BTS - Butter
Tumblr media
Concept: This is their second all English song, and it seems like their sticking to a theme of retro as it was with their first English song. This time it seems to be more around the 1920s. But then there’s a shift to a film production and more modern. I like the music video but it’s hard to follow the concept.
Lyrics: This is going to sound cliché but the lyrics really roll off the tongue. One could say that they’re smooth like butter. They’re very fun lyrics and definitely give off summer vibes. My favorite part is definitely Suga and RM’s rap.
The Dance: I like most of the dance. It’s very nice and smooth and definitely pleasant to watch. This is definitely a dance that I think would be fun to learn and it’s one I wouldn’t mind watching over and over again.
The Look: I am here for these outfits, for the hair, for the eyebrow piercing on Jungkook. The one thing I will say though is at one point, Jimin had his hair slicked back and was wearing sunglasses and it reminded me of Mino from Winner. Which isn’t a bad thing.
Vibe: It’s a summer song, yet the music video doesn’t give me summer vibes. Both are good but I wouldn’t say they go well together. They give off a different vibe. With the song I would expect something brighter and a little less mug shots.
In Comparison: It sounds a lot like their more recent releases. Both this and dynamite have a similar sound in my opinion and it kind of ruins it for me. I liked Dynamite and this feels like it was holding on to the success of Dynamite.
Overall: 4.2/5 It’s a good song, but it is too much like Dynamite for me. I would have liked to see something a bit more different. But I still like it.
Note: This is just my opinion. Everyone else can have their own opinion this is just what I think. Also i’m still playing around with formatting of this so if you have any ideas please let me know.

NCT Dream- Hot Sauce
Tumblr media
Concept: Hot sauce and a taqueria. I’m honestly not surprised. This is NCT Dream, their debut song was about chewing gum.  The music video is performed as if it’s an ad for the hot sauce. It is very similar to the ads for 90′s food commercials. Like the sour candy commercials. I feel like if this was an ad in the 90′s it would fit right in. From the comical eye bulging, to the giant hot sauce bottle, it has everything you need for a commercial in the 90′s.
Lyrics: The lyrics are very confident and straight-forward. But I don’t feel like there’s much to it, with the exception of the bridge and pre-chorus. With this song I don’t think the lyrics are as important as their voices are. I think the lyrics only work because of their voices. I don’t think this is a song just anyone could sing. Like I said the lyrics only work if it’s them singing it.
The Dance: It’s weird, but it works. I feel like it only works because it’s them. A lot of the dance moves are very controlled and it shows just how skilled they are in dancing.
The Look: I am here for these outfits. It gives off a slight summer vibe, but it isn’t sandals and shorts in your face summer. And Renjun’s hair will forever be one of my favorites. And Jaemin at the 2 minute mark... it’s a must see.
Vibe: I feel like we don’t get enough Chenle and to hear his voice pretty early on in the song is like a breath of fresh air. And then after that it’s like you’re being put into a trance. Hot Sauce is weird but it overall works. It’s almost as if they were in a meeting coming up with the concept and someone suggested this and another replied with, “that’s crazy. So crazy it might just work.” and then proceeded to stare into a camera. But it did work.
In Comparison: I feel like you would know this was NCT Dream even if you didn’t listen to them. They have such a distinct sound but because of how they play with the beat it makes each song unique. You can see how they’ve grown up from their debut to now. From Chewing Gum to Hot Sauce, they really went from sweet to spicy.
Overall: 4.5/5 The only reason it’s not getting a 5/5 is because of the lyrics. And if there was just more of the bridge it would have been phenomenal. It’s still an amazing song and I recommend listening to it if you haven’t already.
Note: This is my opinion. You could have a completely different opinion and that’s fine. This is just what I think. Also, I’m trying to figure out how I want to format this so if you have any suggestions please let me know.
