We believe the things we tell ourselves
During this time in my life things seem crazy. I am working on my inner dialog. We do honestly believe the things we tell ourselves. So I must give myself some real credit. The struggles I’ve experienced up until now, I have been able to figure things out. I find myself in positions where my back may feel pressed against the wall. Sometimes I have to come out swinging, in order to make things happen in my favor. At the end of the day, the way we speak to ourselves matters and has a direct effect on our actions. Motivation isn’t always my go to, but I have the ability to be optimistic when I really need it. My main challenge right now seems to be finding the inner strength to keep pushing forward. Being able to keep myself grounded has its up’s and down’s. At one point I can feel like I have a real handle on things, and then in the same moment I can feel helpless and out of control. No matter how I am feeling, in my mind it all feels real. So since I am the only one who can control my thought and thinking pattern, it is time to use my powers for good. This time around I have to not let my anxiety or negativity cloud my better judgement. Basically not letting the bad outweigh the good, in my mind. The power of thought is so real, but I only recognize it when things are going so far left in a bad way. Readjusting my thought pattern and unlearning some of my negative patterns has been such a challenge. No one else will do it but me, I am the only voice in my head. (thank God) So my ability to redirect myself is all in my hands. I did not make it all the way to 32 years old by being consistently one way. I’ve always had to regroup and try things again in a new or different way. So thats what my plan is, I have to switch things up. I am not going to grow by staying in my comfort zone of thoughts. Nor am I going to get a different result from doing the same things over and over again. I believe that this next chapter of my life will be as amazing as I make it. Things wont be sunshine and unicorns all of the time, but I need to tell myself that things wont stay bad for long. As long as I keep telling my self good things will happen, they will actually happen. The power of thought is real, I am just working on using it to my advantage. Hopefully I’m not alone.

$22 Round Trip Flight? Worth The Risk?

Some people will think I am nuts but oh well. Let me break down some of my inner thoughts. This time around the sun I already knew I wanted to make some new choices and shake up my normal day to day. Firstly and mainly I am aware of what is currently going on in the world. Does it seem crazy to want to travel during this time? Possibly. My main motivation behind the want is that it has always been a passion and apart of my plan. I went to school to find my niche in media, which I did. Travel was always going to be apart of this plan. Now I've learn how to blend the two and make a career out of it full-time. Why would I let anything get in my way? At this point I've been furloughed, so when my job decides to open back up I will be right back on the working hamster wheel. This is the longest I haven't worked since I started working at 19. This forced break has opened my eyes to a lot of my patterns and personal habits. I know how to go through the motions of the everyday 9-5, go to work, come home sleep, wake up and do it again.
During this lockdown I have protected myself like how I normally would, by taking my immune boosting vitamins, washing my hands, being aware and touching as little as I can while in public. So far I have felt great. I know people can carry the virus and not show any symptoms, which is scary. I try not to become overly paranoid but still informed. My family lives in a different state, and some live out of the country. So all I can do is can do is pray and check-in often. It is just me and my boyfriend, who thankfully still has one of his jobs. With all of that being said I have made one of the most spontaneous decisions of my life.
While bored and ready to plan my next adventure, I came across some flights. At first I was thinking to myself, with all of this free-time I wish I could get on a plane and just go. With no kids, no current job that I have to be at, why not just pack up and go somewhere? I feel like I could do it, this is what my dream is after all. Why not test the waters and see how things go? What else do I have to do during this time? This deal is too goo to pass up. Sorry, not sorry. I am not worried about getting sick, if I do then it would have been worth it.
Next time you hear from me I will be in Denver,Colorado! Living my best hotel life ordering take out and delivery! Enjoying my trip to a new place, even during this world pandemic.

Everyone is talking about this year and how crazy things have started off. We are all in the same boat when it comes to the feeling of being trapped and experiencing some level of boredom. Time is something that all of us breathing experiences in different way but we all experience it. The main difference is in how we view and use our time. While in school I always felt like I was balancing so much and I never had as much time as I would have liked. Working on time management was very eye opening and interesting even difficult at times. I noticed that I was use to managing my time for work but not for my outside life or free-time. This forced break has shown and proven to me that time is an idea or concept. When I say that I mean that people put timelines or time limits on how soon or quickly we think something should happen. Like, being married and having kids by 30, or graduating college by 23. Having your dream job by 35. Seriously, who told us to as a generation that we need to reach personal milestones in such a strict timeline? Personally I have had moments where I feel like I am so behind in life and that turning 30 means I am “out of time”. Time is always going to be moving forward, and age isn't a good way to judge if you've been successful so far. How we gage what we have done during certain time periods can make us feel accomplished or failed. Remember time flies when you are having fun, but does it really? Or are we just spending that time not focused on the actual time itself but instead are we immersing ourselves in the moment and absorbing up the needed energy? Focus and perception go hand in hand in my opinion. What you perceive as important normally gets most, if not all of your focus. Well at least for me it happens like that, when I attempt to prioritize. I have moments where I am reminding myself that I still have time to accomplish things and enjoy living my life. My life happens in my time-line, no one else's.

Well we are almost through the first quarter of 2020. I have had so many amazing things happen. This year my approach and plan is different. I finished 2019 with some heat. I can’t say that’s how I started. The older I grow I must acknowledge my new interpretation of life in general. This year I turn 30, and I don’t take this lightly. I honestly feel like I am running out of time. I was foolish enough to think how society wanted me to. But I am learning that my journey isn’t ALL about the end goals. The most memorable things happen while on the journey. My life has never been something that I could predict. All of us are forced to go along for the ride. At this point I am truly excited about this part of my journey. My new chapter begins the same year as our new decade. I honestly think that has deep personal meaning. The past decade I lived and survived. Now going into this new decade, I have a whole 10 years to switch up everything and start shaking things up. Everything is about to turn up. And luckily you will have a front seat to it all. Being a media professional I have so much I want to document and show. My life is only going to be lived by me, so why not make it as dope as I can? Who else is going to do it for me? And since I get to be the one who makes it happen, I don’t plan on letting myself down. I am so motivated, inspired and excited about this new decade. Life isn’t only beginning for me. I’ve been surviving and making moves happen when no one else could see how I could do it. So honestly I know how to survive and hustle. Now it’s time to use it to my advantage and make my life amazing. Why not? Stick around it’s only going to get better.

Passionate about travel
These are so many things that interest me. I only have a few things I would consider myself passionate about. If I had to choose one passion, it would be traveling. I have always wanted to see the rest of the world, since I was a child. As early as I can remember, my mother always told me about her home country of Trinidad and Tobago. I think it was those conversations that made me interested in seeing what the other parts of the world are like. My entire mothers’ side of my family is from there. I grew up having the best of both worlds. I was able to get the Caribbean cultural experience, as well as the American cultural experience in my everyday life. Knowing that my family is from a different part of the world always made me curious, I wanted to experience what the world has to offer me. Traveling is important, not only for the educational aspect but just being able to go and come as you please is such a freeing feeling. Not everyone has the ability or want to travel to immerse themselves in other cultures. My goal is to visit as many places as I can before I start my family.

My Media School Experience (So Far)
I was recently asked what have I learned so far since been in media school. I could really write a whole book on the things I have learned in this short time. Just being enrolled in this media program has given me an eye opening revelation. Instead of giving a list of things I have learned so far, I would rather tell you what I will take away from this experience. So far things have been happening very fast, which is good. It has been a while since I have been in school, so forcing myself to be around a bunch of people I don’t know is very interesting. I willingly accepted the challenge, I am normally the type to keep to myself for a while. Then when I am ready to socialize I step out of my comfort zone. Since I have been in school I have had to force myself to open up more than I would have normally done. Which shows me that people truly do need to network and build connections with others to truly grow as an individual. Everyone is here at school because of a common interest, which is media. Not everyone will end up best friends but having a strong network of people in your circle will help you in the long run. So at the end of this journey I hope to see some of my classmates come out on the other side of this.

“Burnout” classified as a medical condition
If you are employed then you understand what it feels like to be tired, stressed or even mentally drained. These symptoms are now being associated with a new classification called Burnout. This is exhaustion due to chronic stress found in the workplace. According to The World Health Organization Burnout is being found more commonly amongst those who work in high stress professions. There are some people that experience these symptoms twice as often as the average American worker. Recently Burnout was categorized by The World Health Organization, as a “syndrome”. So for the first time the condition is considered legitimate. The idea of Burnout seems like a recently new issue but there have been studies done on it over the past four decades. A lot of the research links it to anxiety and mood disorders. There is on study that suggests some severe cases of burnout actually are from depression. Burnout is becoming more common as well as a bigger issue. Hopefully now that is it categorized and being recognized as a mental health issue, things will change when it comes to how stress is dealt with in the work place. In a perfect world this should help prompt employers to find new ways to help relieve some of the work related stress that effects people daily.
