annahydenycā:
She followed him through to the living room area, a spring in her step as usual. There hazel orbs fall on the items set up in preparation for the withdrawal of her blood. The urge to start being nosy and pick things up was strong, but she restrained and let him prepare what he needed to. She removes her jacket promptly and folds it up before placing it down on the arm of a chair before plopping herself down in it.
āI knew.ā she said in an almost sing-song voice. He had a point ; why didnāt the oārileyās who are notorious hunters think about that first. In hind sight it would have been a good idea to have the wolves banned, or make them leave much, much earlier in the day. But Anna had been prepared, not that she knew they were going to be locked in, but she was prepared for this full moon as she often ran into wolves. āLast month I nearly had my ass bit by a wolf, so I had a few herbs in my bad should I need them for on the way home and well, I needed them.ā She rolls up her sleeve whilst speaking and rests it on the other arm of the chair ready. āSo, why do you take blood like this? Why not just bite me?ā she asks outright.
-
Ā Ā Ā ------ā I CAN SAFELYĀ say iāve never had the pleasure of getting into a scuffle with a werewolf. ā whether or not he was sarcastic or serious was up for debate, and his expression wouldnāt be a tell. concentration was set on sterilizing the draw site before wrapping a tourniquet around her arm. he watched as everything below slowly shifted to a darker shade of pink, pressed his finger into the junction of her elbow to raise the necessary vein more to the surface. heād done this so many timesĀ ---even taken a proper class to learn about different drawing techniques, the different gauges for the syringes for their various uses, and practice on dummy arms. jesse hummed in response to her explanation - he couldnāt fault her for being prepared - and continued his work. once the butterfly needle had been inserted and the tubing connected to the bag he released the tourniquet and gestured for her to sit back and relax.
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā a couple of reasons ... one, collection lets me have a reserve stock. itās easier to pull from this, ā and he gestured to the bag as it filled,Ā ā than to go out and find someone to feed from every time ... or have someone come by. two, biting is intimate. iād rather not share that form of intimacy every time i need to sustain myself. ā his freezer had other bags from other connections stocked in it. they were marked with the date they had been collected and the blood type at the very minimal of effort, but usually with the donorās name as well. he tried his best to vet his donors, evenĀ ---to ensure they werenāt taking anything that would harm him for ingesting.Ā ā did you get bitten in the ass again? ā genuine curiosity, a rarity in his tone, present as he sat back and relaxed for the moment he could before heād have to stop the collection process.

ofxmirayā:
HE HAD A POINT, why waste their time on something that was bound to pick itself up again. However, it would have made for a nice show. Some form of entertainment on some end. If there was a species she despised more than the humans it was werewolves. Considering she usedĀ to be human, but all that died with her. She had no remorse.Ā āThere is also the thought that they will ruin themselves, only a matter of time.ā she states quietly as they walk through the crowded streets. A dislike for closed spaces, and peopleĀ in general, she ignored the bystanders and continued following his lead.Ā ānot surprised, the training and time spent in such a field, not even put to good use.ā the world was a disappointment. Did she see herself above the living? no, but they were worthless.
She hadnāt met his sibling, not that she would think heād introduce the two, that just wasnāt even a thought. However, she held importance, anyone that was of value to Jesse, would suffice for her to consider them, valuable.Ā She didnāt question the things he did, or said. Miray simply let it be.Ā āYou do what you must to get the answers you need. by ANY means.Ā ā she replies, she smirked at his next set of words. The area in which she resides was much more upkeep, considering, it was a luxury part of Manhattan, the building in which she works, not so much.Ā āI donāt think Iāve visited your place in a while.ā she states looking over at him.
-
Ā Ā Ā ------ā I DONāT THINKĀ anyone has answers. ā his tone was slightly wistful, mostly disappointed, quickly covered by his body language. a register of nothing. he wasnāt one to sink feelings or emotions into thoughts but the consistent dry resolution ( or lack thereof ) where leilana was concerned had him fully believing that nobody knew anything.Ā ā the council is completely fucking useless. you think theyād value one of thier members enough to intervene in some fashion when they turned up missing, but instead theyāre calling all manner of individuals in for questioning. i can only imagine it means they know nothing more than you or i on the matter. IMAGINEĀ ---something as supposedly powerful as a council knowing nothing. what a dated and glorified concept. ā
Ā Ā Ā he was more than happy for the shift in topic. jesse nodded and peered at miray from the corner of his eye, nearly elbowing someone out of the way in oncoming sidewalk traffic.Ā ā not much of a change. i think i gutted the den and made an office instead since you last visited. more collecting of gothic decor. as much as can be fit into the motif while owning a home in this godforsaken city. ā

imogenorileyā:
she huffs and looks up, taking in a deep breath. how she wished she could break the stupid council rules and give him what he deserves. but, she refrains. the last thing they needed with the absolute mess on their hands, was imogen losing her temper.Ā āletās save that for another time, jesse. iām sure their will be plenty.ā shifting on the balls of her feet some, her face stone cold.Ā
āyou have some balls. iāll tell you that.ā which she could appreciate even more so if he didnāt drink blood to stay alive. she walks a little closer to him, mere inches from his face, not breaking eye contact. her hand going into her pocket and taking out her phone, glancing down to call her brother, putting the phone to her ear.Ā āhey, i have question for you. you know where your bloodsucker girlfriend is?āĀ
imogen listens to him yell, profanities spill from his lips over the phone. she swallows hard, noting that he was ā¦ not okay at all.Ā āokayā¦ just, iāll text you alright. i just wanted to ask.ā hanging up, she sighs loudly.Ā āhe doesnāt know where she is, he just found out sheās missing. ā maybe you two can team up, how about that? it would be so cute.ā
-
Ā Ā Ā ------HE WAS ALLĀ about pushing boundaries, poking his little fingers into the cracks of whoever it was unfortunate enough to speak to him, to feel out their buttons and press them repeatedly. with someone like imogen it was easy: she had a lot of cracks to feel around in, a lot of buttons to press over and over. it was moments like these that jesse wished he had the ability to read minds, to get a feel of the frustration that might have roiled over her, the one that flickered momentary emotions over her face only to disappear into a mask he so easily recognized - the cold neutrality. heād relish in it too much. a fantasy best shelved for never.
Ā Ā Ā his own amusement remained painted across his expression, albeit in small ways, with the slight flicker of his lips upward and the unfamiliar shine in his otherwise dead gaze. eyes followed as she drew near, head canting slightly to accommodate the sudden close proximity ( a challenge unto itself ) and jesse could smellĀ the blood rushing through her veins with how little room sheād kept between them. he knew this game. imogen conceded enough to give him what he wanted but sheād done it on her own terms. what had been verbalized as her version of momentary truce was really an extension unto their back-and-forth, he admired that about her. ( heād never admit it. ) he had balls? she did, too.
Ā Ā Ā there was no satisfaction in the result of the phone call. every lead heās imagined turned up a dead-end, stopping any poking into leilanaās whereabouts right in their tracks. as cold as he was jesse could measure the reaction to the question as genuine. with the soft tone of the call ending he was sure to keep his ownĀ poker face in place, not willing to give a woman like imogen any measure or tell of displeasure for her to run that mile with. he kept close in her proximity, voice a calm near-whisper.Ā ā thank you. was that so hard, sweetheart? ā

ofxmirayā:
SHE HAD BEEN busy with this thing called life, if that is what this was. the daily routine of going through the motions, and all for what? to fit in? into the world that was nothing but a disappointment. a disappointment along with the rest of these humans that lived their everyday lives oblivious to the world that theyāre in. Had their eyes actually opened, theyād see, it was evil and twisted darkness. run, run for your lives. the thoughts simply floats in her mind, none taking precedence in acting on what she was thinking. The temptation of blood, the beating muscle that pumps within their chests, the very essence of survival, the onlyĀ supply that could sate her needs.Ā All thoughts silenced as her attention was turned to Jesse.
āitās only fair to continue to infect it more, or have it become extinct.ā her voice monotone, but she did mean her words. This was his typical check in, visit her every now and then, and they would move forward. An acknowledgementĀ that could be said without words, in a simple gaze.Ā Her feet moving the minute he began to move, ten years and she could still never miss a beat to his drum. Walking along side him without even trying.Ā āWell then, pour the gas, Iāll light the match.ā she states looking at him.Ā āit seems as the days go on, the more tempting it is to ruin their picture perfect ideal world.ā but for now it was on hold. they had pressing matters, like these runes and Leilana Beaufort missing. She was not one to show much emotion but family was important, she long forgot hers.Ā āany word on your sibling?ā
-
Ā Ā Ā ------ā FAR TOO MUCHĀ effort for something meaningless. itās a passing fancy at best, entertaining the notion. but not worth the time, the expense in energy it would take. city like this ... even if the world ended thereād be the cockroaches still clinging to the vestiges of it. kingdoms rise, fall, rise again. such is life. ā shoulders rose and dropped in the slightest of single shrugs ... as if the thought didnāt matter so much as to warrant any more. he moved through the throng of people on the sidewalk ---busy, always, as if they werenāt there and continued their conversation.Ā ā no new word. and the unfortunate creatures working on the investigation seem less-inclined to help than they should. iāll start digging my nose in earnest soon. ā
Ā Ā Ā it wasnāt like leilana to drop off of the face of the earth. that was a jesse thingĀ ---disappearing when he didnāt want to be bothered. if, for nothing else, he wanted to be at the tavern to see where she was now, when she went missing. IF ONLY HE COULD ROLL BACK TIME. lips pressed into a thin line and jesse shook his head,Ā ā iām sure sheāll turn up, sooner or later. but until then i have to start shaking the right trees. iām just very muchĀ not looking forward to the first one i have to rattle. ā THE BOYFRIEND. or whatever the fuck he was. waste of space. either way,Ā ā but first, home. thinking and pondering about that situation can wait until tomorrow, or at least wait until weāre somewhere more private and less filthy. ā

Ā Ā Ā ------ā SO, THE BADGE, the FBI get up is? just for show? you ask if thereās any leads, anything that can be done, and immediately deny the suggestion and pawn it off to a civilian? no wonder nothing ever came of your rosamieās death, if you were on the case. ā lips pursed into a think line, attention shifting immediately to other interests in the room. just a lot of evidence of angry werewolvesĀ ---not the sorts of things that interested jesse. the whole bar was tacky ... sticky even, the way his shoes made noise when he moved as if they were suctioned to the floor. @jessebeaufortā
Location || Outside Cosmopolitan Magazine.
Miray had been leaving her workplace for the night, moving on about her day like normal. She had heard about the events at OāRileyās tavern but didnāt care too much for the werewolves or whatever. Just hearing it, made her skin crawl, it angered her even. She was now heading home, that was until someone had asked her for direction.Ā āEver heard of google maps? you should try it.ā she states moving around the person, eyes then settling on a familiar figure. Looking at him, she simply gave a head nod. nothing else.
-
Ā Ā Ā ------THERE WAS ANĀ argument to be made that jesse beaufortās priorities were askew, but that was always the case. some people changed when they came into their full potential ... he was simply born with all of his faults as they were and chose to embrace them from day one. there was no more searching he could do for leilana presently, with her case in the weak and incapable hands of the fbi ( they were more concerned with film copyright infringement, after all ). later heād stick his nose where it didnāt belong, but all leads so far were dead. there was nothing more that could be found, dug up ---as if she just disappeared. attention shifted to another concern, one in the form of a child.
Ā Ā Ā the business with runes, deaths, his sisterās disappearance ... it was all more than enough to set the finer hairs at the back of his neck upright. connecting with miray was simply to ensure her safety and nothing more, all done in hisĀ fashion.Ā ā this city is a disease. i donāt understand why the council clings to it. ā words drawled with the usual bored tone, eyes following the person dismissed by his fledgling. jesse neared, and fell in beside her, moving in the direction he had just come from and wordlessly assuming sheād follow.Ā ā itād be easier to burn the whole damn place to the ground. ā

š« PISTOL
Ā Ā Ā š« PISTOL - do they trust people easily? how easily will they turn their back to someone? have they been backstabbed before? will they betray someone if given an ultimatum?
Ā Ā Ā not at all. there are very few people he actually trusts, and even then itās a limited experience. he has little to no interest in the plights of others, so itās pretty likely heāll turn his back on someone ... it depends on the situation, who they are, if it can somehow benefit him. since jesse considers small slights being backstabbedĀ ( situational ) he has been betrayed before ... but he doesnāt remember why and would be the first to admit it meant nothing to him ... he was just being an asshole. and it depends on what the ultimatum is, who heād be betraying, what the motivation is. heās an incredibly selfishĀ person, so if it doesnāt somehow benefit him in the long run heās not going to do it.

Ā Ā Ā ------ā NO, I WASĀ more interested in drinking whiskey that tastes like it came from the bottom of one of the hunterās shoes. ā sarcasm oozed from each of his words, the unamused glimmer in jesseās eye more of a giveaway than the tone of voice. HE WAS NOT A CLOSE-KNIT MAN, nor was he disgustingly worriedĀ ---both were reserved for the likes of his missing sister, and perhaps other siblings he kept less in-touch with. JESSE WAS NOT A MAN WHOāD DREDGE UP SYMPATHY OR EMPATHY FOR ANYONE ELSE. his worry did lead him now, but it lashed more like a tiger backed into a corner of a cage than tears and begging. heād rather die.Ā ā if i had leads, i wouldnāt be digging around in this shithole. ā

She had been on her shift, almost counting down the hours until she could go home. her mind needed to be put at ease, and right now, work was a distraction. she may have only been working part time now a days, she still was able to catch things, especially if a certain doctorĀ was being shady. seeing as someone looked like they needed assistance. annahydenycā:
Was there something creepy about giving your blood to a vampire in a way that felt like donating to a hospital? Yes. Did Anna care? Nope. The fact was the witch had a pretty sweet apartment in Brooklyn but rent wasnāt cheap and since she didnāt have an actually job per say, sheād take what she could get. A few shady deals here and there would be fine, and this was just one of those things. A regular Monday for the witch.
She smiles sweetly as the door is opened for her and she moves through the threshold with a spring in her step. āMy pleasure.ā she speaks with an upbeat tone. Ā Her hands clasped behind her back in attempt to stop herself from touching something possibly valuable and getting herself distracted ā which was easily done. āOh, you mean the bar fight between one guy claiming to be the best irish dancer in new york and the other guy claiming to be the best irish dancer in the world? Pfft. That was nothing. The real fun began when we found out we were all locked in and I had to go all bad ass witch on a few puppies.ā she explains in typical Anna style.
-
Ā Ā Ā ------THERE WAS ANĀ obvious clash in personality between the two ... but jesse didnāt need her bubbly persona, he just needed her blood. the rest of it was just chit-chat, idle as it was, to pass the time between her knocking and when sheād leave. he was good at it, even if he clenched his jaw through the whole thing. he moved through the foyer, leading toward the crisp living room with the objects necessary laid out, and gestured for her to have a seat. it had taken only a few short months to perfect this, all those years ago. harvesting the blood in the most sterile way possible, almost clinical in his approach as if he wasnāt at all interested in consuming it later. ( there was a specific kettle on his stove that he reheated the blood in. he had to wash it between each use, but it served well. )
Ā Ā Ā jesse himself sat on the coffee table ---sturdy, a thick glass, and rest the rubber tourniquet on his knee. hands busied themselves with getting ready to pierce her flesh with the appropriate needle, even with the alcohol pad laid atop the tourniquet.Ā ā obviously i was referencing the second. people wonāt stop talking under their breath about it. very predictable. ā he half-shrugged a shoulder,Ā ā remove your jacket, please. and roll up your sleeve. ---as to how nobody realized it was a full moon before the holiday seems sloppy in and of itself. ā

Ā Ā fighting a smirk, just because she knew this interaction was going to be the highlight of her day. āwhatās that i hear?ā gesturing with a hand to her ear. āoh yeah, the sound of me not giving a fuck ā jesse beaufort.ā her hands going to cross over her chest, putting the gun in her back pocket in the process, eyeing him up and down.
Ā Ā she didnāt like the way he said her last name, like it was some kind of foul word, thickened with disgust. then again, it kinda made her want to gloat, it just meant that her family had a deep enough affect on the supernatural community. no matter if it was good or bad, imogen didnāt care how people viewed her or her family.
Ā Ā āhow is that my problem exactly?ā asking, nose scrunching. wondering if torin knew of his blood sucker girlfriend vanishing. unfortunately, it wasnāt her that caused this. āwatch how you talk about him.ā commenting in a stern voice. ābut, going back to your obvious main concern; sorry sheās not answering her phone. are we done here?ā
-
Ā Ā Ā ------ā THEN TAKE YOURĀ shot, oāriley. weāll see how it goes. ā his expression flickered - just for a moment ( blink and youāll miss itĀ ) to genuine amusement at their interaction. so few people stood up to his horrible disposition with the rightĀ kind of attitude ... the reare moments it happened he reveled in it. in any other instance he would engage her further and see how far that snark went, but not with leilanaās status as MISSINGĀ looming over his head. HIS CURSE WAS CARING TOO MUCH, despite all evidence pointing to the opposite. while he did have love for each member of his family, there was more for leilana ... not that heād let her know it. not that heād let anyone know it.
