Ok, I don’t know if this will make any sense, but I think I just noticed sth about gold rush: the verse is kind of up beat and her voice sounds pretty calm, reasonable. Because in the verse she is counting down the reasons why she could never be with this person, she‘s being realistic about it, looking at the facts. But then in the chorus it almost seems like a key change and her voice and the entire melody seems so dreamy as she is starting to daydream about the person even though she knows it’s unrealistic. So like the kind of opposite sounding melody of chorus and verse represents the opposite thought process of reacting to the memory she discribes in the intro.

What if ivy is the Sequel to ’tis the damn season and Dorothea? Like Dorothea eventually marries a rich, famous guy in LA, but then at some point he has to work over the holidays so Dorothea stays with her parents and runs into the guy from ’tis the damn season and they start this affair thing again...

Ok but gold rush is literal perfection
The way she just captures daydreaming and the feeling of making up fake scenarios with your crush before going to bed, knowing you‘ll hate yourself the next day bc it can never actually be... I just can‘t

Is it me or does the intro to Coney Island kind of sound like the little things by one direction intro?

Isn’t it just ironic how both Betty and Cardigan discuss how much you know when you‘re young.
Betty: when you are young they assume you know nothing. But I knew you.
James: I‘m only 17, I don’t know anything. But I know I miss you.
Like, at first I thought it was so cute that both of their songs basically said: „I‘m young and I don’t really know a lot, but I know you and how I feel about you and that’s all that matters“
But later I noticed this:
Betty: cuz I knew everything when I was young.
And I just can’t stop thinking about how Betty says she knew everything when she was young - despite all the people assuming the opposite, just because she‘s young- while James just keeps justifieng his mistakes by saying that he‘s young and that he doesn’t know anything.
And i suddenly don’t find it that cute anymore.

The teenage love triangle in folklore: Lyric similarities:
Betty & James:
And when I felt like I was an old cardigan under someone’s bed, you put me on and said I was your favorite - cardigan
Standing in your cardigan - betty
High heels on cobblestone - Cardigan
I was walking home on broken cobblestones - Betty
Dancing in your Levi’s, drunk under a streetlight - cardigan
Kissing in my car again, stopped at a streetlight - betty
To kiss in cars and downtown bars was all we needed - cardigan
Kissing in my car again, stopped at a streetlight - betty
I knew you‘d miss me once the thrill expired - cardigan
But I know I miss you/ You know I miss you - Betty
And you‘d be standing in my front porch light - cardigan
Betty I’m here on your doorstep/ will you kiss me on the porch in front of all your stupid friends- betty
James & the other girl:
And I can see us twisted in bedsheets - august
Slept next to her - betty
So much for summer love - august
If I told you it was just a summer thing - betty
Remember when I pulled up and said „get in the car“ - august
When she pulled up like a figment of my worst intentions. She said „James, get in, let’s drive“ - betty

Fearless: And it’s 2 AM and I’m cursing your name
- The way I loved you, Taylor Swift
Folklore: And if I’m dead to you why are you at the wake? Cursing my name
- my tears ricochet, Taylor Swift

Time, wondrous time, gave me the blues
Tumblr media
And then purple pink skies
Tumblr media
- invisible string, Taylor Swift
I feel like this line might be a reference to the two previous albums before folklore: Reputation, because during the writing process it’s been a hard time for Taylor with all the hate of the media; and then Lover, because in the Album Cover you see Taylor standing in front of purple pink skies.

Has anyone ever noticed just how similar the hunger games and the selection are?
This kinda contains spoilers for both the selection and the hunger games!
Both series’ are set in a future version of the USA
The society is parted into different statuses represented by numbers (the districts/ the castes)
There is a love triangle
The main character comes from the poorer/lower side of the society, has a lot of temper and and a fiery attitude. She knows that there‘s something wrong with the politics in her country, but at the beginning of the story doesn’t really know what to do/ change about it
Her one love interested is the guy from home that she had known for a long time, that is very passionate and protective, a little tempered as well and has some pretty strong political opinions. He is the one taking care of the entire family after the father had passed away
Her other love interested is the caring, loving, smart and funny guy who calms her down and gives her steadiness (and is blonde). He has also been abused by one parent
A main part of the storyline is a reality TV- Show where the main character and the second named love interest get closer together
There is a rebellion starting during the TV-Show that especially the main character, but also both her love interests get involved in. The people find the main character inspiring which helps the revolution a lot
Especially towards the end a lot of people die
The main character ends up getting with the second named love interest
Literally the biggest differences are that the one TV-Show is a royal version of the bachelor, while the other is about 24 kids getting sent into a deadly arena to kill each other until only one is left as well as the fact that the hunger games is a lot more tragic...
So to all the hunger games fans out there: read the selection (please!)
And to all of the selection fans out there: read the hunger games (please!)

Does anyone know the book series inkheart by Cornelia Funke? It’s been quite a while since I read it, so I don’t remember all of the plot, but it’s basically about a girl named Meggie and her Father who both have the ability to bring characters from books to life as well as reading themselves or others inside the story by simply reading a passage of a book out loud. Of course it isn’t that simple and can be pretty dangerous, for example read the main characters Father accidentally his wife inside a story and can’t get her back out of it, but pretty much all cool gifts are dangerous, aren’t they?
However, there’s this one conversation I had with a girl who read the books too a few years ago:
Girl: Would you like to have Meggie‘s gift?
My stupid, boring, non fangirl, younger self: I don’t think so. It’s too dangerous in my opinion.
And I just can’t stop laughing at how wrong I was, considering that today pretty much all my friends and crushes are fictional and I spent my life getting lost in worlds that in most peoples opinions only exist in books and that I know way more about than the world I just so happen to actually live in...

I want Netflix to make a Selection TV-Show instead of a movie...
And anyone who wants to come me with there‘s not enough plot for a TV-show and it would be boring, hear me out:
Because the Selection is written in 1st Person, everything we know is going on throughout the series is something America must have either seen or have someone else tell her, so a lot of potentially interesting plot is only hinted at. But what if we make a show about it and have Kiera Cass be a part of the writing and get all trivia the books didn’t give us.
Spoiler warning:
Think about:
A deateled, full lovestory about Marlee and Carter, as well as Lucy and Aspen
All the drama Celeste causes trying to make the other girls look bad (remember her apology to the other elite girls in the one? How did we never get to see more about that)
In general the fights and friendships between the girls
Aspen in his training for being a guard and his relationship to the others like him being bro’s with Carter for example
A Backstory for all the Elite girls
Both the rebel groups planing their next moves or the backstory to how the rebilion even started in the first place in a flash back kinda style
Americas Familys reaction to her on TV
Clarkson and Amberlys relationship and how he cheats on her
Maxon‘s childhood and his relationship to his father, Mother and Daphne or him worrying about not being a good king one day
Flashbacks to Gregory illèa whenever Mer reads his Diaries
The people obsessing over or judging the selection and having their favorites and least favorite selected
All the dates of Maxon with some of the other girls
There is literally so much plot that remains untold or is only hinted at and a TV-show could give us all of it!

Why can’t you get a divorce with your parabatai? Like it would literally have saved Emma and Julian so much trouble in tda. Or think about Luke and Valentine (even though the bond kinda broke with Luke being a werewolf) they definitely weren’t proud of the decision they made back then. I mean of course it’s an oath until death but don’t marriage and the parabatai Bond both basically say „until death tear us apart“ yet you can just get a divorce to end things with your husband/wife? Most Shadowhunters become Parabatai as a kid or teenager which kinda is a just as huge promise and big responsibility as marriage while people get married as adults and have the right to just say „shoot it didn’t work out. Let’s get a divorce and try again“.

At the first destination of Emma and Julians travel year:
Julian: *opens his suitcase to begin unpacking*
Julian: *pulls out a dress of Emma’s*
Julian: *pulls out Emma’s sunglasses*
Julian: *pulls out a bra*
Julian: *pulls out a box of jewelry*
Julian: *pulls out literally half of Emma’s closet until finally reaching the stuff that belongs to him*
Julian: *doesn’t know if he is upset or amused*
Emma: *busy trying to collect all the stuff that fell out of her suitcas the moment she opened it*
Julian: Emma?
Emma: *looking up, seeing all her close lying next to Julians suitcase*
Emma: *nervously answering* yeah?
Julian: Do you know why about 90% of my suitcase is filled with your stuff?
Emma:
Emma: i can explain
