There is a viral video that exists of Jay Jay in an airplane hanger, and more relaxed clothes, probably form his time in college, of him belting and dancing to Starlight Express' Megamix. He pulled in some others and they were just having fun and being a bit precarious when they came into contact with anything that had wheels that they could ride.

Three things were learned, he isn't a terrible singer, he isn't a terrible dancer, and he has questionable taste in musicals. It resurfaced with Starlight Express got a revival in London. And even that wasn't enough to stop the rumors that he had questionable taste in musical theater.

If it were not for Jay Jay's obsession with planes on his social media, and getting a bit viral for videos of himself in the cockpit when he joined the Blue Angels, he would not have social media, nor really understand how to use it. It just isn't really his style, like people who do know him are just shocked the he did it, because it does not match his personality at all.

He gave a nod, "Of course, if they asked me to fly Bert," he motioned towards Fat Albert the large plane that carried all the equipment and the rest of the crew that traveled with the Blue Angels, "I would, but I don't think they would let a sea man fly it, marines are protective over him." The Blue Angels were a mix of navy and marines, one marine flew as part of the show crew, and two marines lovingly were the pilots of the crowd favorite Fat Albert.

He fell in step slightly behind her, because while this seemed to be a conversation of equals, more or less, decorum shouted at him and was ingrained in his bones. He wasn't about to disrespect the Commander in Chief, the president, in front of some of his superiors, and the president herself. As she spoke he wondered just what Boss had agreed to. Not something he could really fathom, was for sure.

He nearly tripped over himself when she stated her request ( Something told him the nosy nellies of the officers and personnel who were still watching were laughing at him, and he would never hear the end of it ). Of course Boss would agree to that. The fact that she came for him, was more of a shock than anything. He was Navy, not Airforce as custom, and he knew she herself was a marine, and he knew at least three top tier marine pilots. But she wanted him.

"Is it safe to say, that is the last thing I expected you to ask me," he said with a bit of a laugh. "That's like a dream, flying the most important plane for one of the most important people in the world." He let out a small huff of a laugh. He looked down and then back to her, "My file, is just all planes, while I'm sure it makes me a good candidate, was it really that interesting?" He had served yes, and things happened as they do when you are active duty, but his resume was mostly filled with planes and plane adjacent things, with a bit of meteorology thrown in for fun.

She would never begrudge anyone for their interests. In fact, she finds it amusing, in a sense. She had interests of her own ( she had knitted a sweater for her orange cat, cupcake, after all ). So, she would never begrudge him for his own interest in flights. Although she had been a Marine, she had interests of her own (not as intense as Jay Jay had for his flight interest but an interest nonetheless).

"Any plane you're asked to?" Grey hues flicker towards his superior officer, raising her eyebrow. In that moment, they both share a similar thought and he gives her a subtle nod. Not that she NEEDED his permission. It was still nice to get. She was still getting used to the idea of being President, even now months after the attack and months after she'd been sworn in at 1 AM.

"Walk with me, Lieutenant Commander." She gestures for him to follow after her as she moves towards the less crowded area of the landing zone.

"I want to get your opinion. And your answer. Your superior officer has already approved it, but I want to know if it's what YOU want." She would never take someone from a job they liked, at least not if she didn't have to.

"I want you to be my pilot." She shoves her gloved hands into the pockets of her jeans. "As you know, my pilot is retiring. Your file interested me."

Jay Jay drives an older truck. He takes really good care of it, in that if you don't see the miles on it, or know what the latest trucks actually look like you wouldn't realize his truck is years old. He keeps it like knew. It is actually something he takes great pride in.

The car before his truck was a little Mazda 626, that was his dads. He had that one through college. It served him well, and he also took really good care of it. It still had some life in it, when he sold it to his high school to use as a car for Shop Class.

During his first year as a Blue Angel, Jay Jay made a request that at the time seemed like an amazing idea, but logistically would be nearly impossible. But it stayed in the minds of the higherups.

So the following year when he brought it up, they had said it had already been planned. while the six main pilots would be there in their uniforms, their flight suits, the other members of the very extensive team would also be present, but those representing the Blue Angels and thus the Navy and the Marines would be the six pilots.

During their time in DC for the airshow there, they would be stopping before the show to pay tribute, and respect to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. For many this was a wonderful press moment, the pictures would be iconic as they stood saluting as the guard changed. But for those there it would be more personal. It was something they would then do every year, at least while Jay Jay was a pilot for them, he hopes the tradition would carry on.

tl;dr Jay Jay requests that the pilots pay tribute to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, it was denied his first year, and then granted his second year, and is continued as a tradition while he i with the blue angels..
