So I finally checked on my insurance’s website for different claims under my name. Overall, I’ll be paying less than $3,000 dollars for my top surgery. I put down $1500 for my top surgery for my surgeon (Dr. Mosser), and I only ended up owing him $917.60. So I’ll be getting a refund from him at some point once insurance pays him. Then I owe the anesthesiologist $688.78 and the hospital $20.00. I’ll say again that I got lucky that my family hit our family deductible before I got the surgery. That GREATLY decreased my costs. I still paid about $1600 for a place to stay in SF, and my mom got the rental car and tickets with her credit card points. She also paid for the food. In the end, this whole surgery and the travel costs put me out about $3,300. Much better than $10k plus travel!

what some people think “you don’t need dysphoria to be trans” means: anyone can choose to be trans and trans people can just choose to be cis.

what “you don’t need dysphoria to be trans” actually means: trans experiences are extremely varied and trans people define dysphoria in multiple valid ways. there are multiple valid ways to be trans other than the “true transsexual” narrative popularized by cis people. distress about your birth assigned gender or sex characteristics is one way to be trans. discovering that you suddenly feel more authentic when living as a new gender, after no discernable distress that you’d call dysphoria, is another. if your gender is different from the one you were assigned at birth, you can call yourself trans.

if cis women can bulk up and wear baggy pants and crop their hair short and go without makeup or shaving their pits/legs/anywhere else, co-opt traditionally ‘masculine’ behaviors, and still be viewed as women–even praised for how very feminist they are in doing so–then so can trans women. that’s it. end of.

and if cis men who love fashion and florals and pink, and wear dresses and makeup and love to bake, can be comfortable in their masculinity and praised as revolutionary for doing so, then–you guessed it–so can trans men. that’s it. end of.

not one single person on earth has any right to dictate how anyone else pilots their respective flesh suits. not one single person on earth has any right to claim someone is ‘faking’ their gender or performing a gender incorrectly when gender is arbitrary as hell as-is.

such a weird feeling, tbh. i can be flat and still breathe. i’m still not healed, and i feel very vulnerable because of that. but i also feel amazing, too. a lot of my chest is still numb, but i’m finally kinda used to that. here’s to the rest of my life binder-free! 😁🎉🎈 ft. my new 4 month old kitten. haven’t named her yet, but I am thinking either Frankie or Dakota. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I had my 2 week post-op virtual check-up, and Dr, Mosser said everything is looking great and healing well so far.

I’ve been taking pictures most days since getting my dressings off on day 6 (7/25/18). I didn’t take pictures on day 7, but this is a timeline of days 6 and 8-13.

I'm not transphobic but there's no way the transgendered peter parker headcanon would work in the way of physical appearance, there's no way a trans guy could every achieve the muscles that are required of Spider-Man or any superhero. I'm not transphobic, but you trans guys will always have feminine builds and it isn't realistic for you to say that transgenders could look like buff superheroes or even just strong men. Sorry.

okay putting aside the fact that you are blatantly transphobic despite how much you say “i’m not transphobic” and also putting aside the fact that while peter parker does develop muscle definition he is still known for being very small and lean even after being bitten by the spider, let’s just take a look at some trans guys who will never be able to have the physique of superheroes or of strong men in general:
