White Star Line’s(then Cunard-White Star, then just Cunard) Britannic of 1929 in color. She along with her sister Georgic(1931) were the last two ships delivered to the White Star Line before its merger with Cunard(and the rapid dissolution of most of White Star’s former fleet). Britannic originally served the Liverpool - New York route for White Star. Following the merger with Cunard, Britannic was transferred to the London - New York route, the largest liner to ever serve that route. After her war service as a troop transport she was refitted and returned to her original Liverpool - New York route in 1948, with cruising of the Mediterranean in the winter off-months becoming increasingly important as years went on. The Britannic was originally a popular ship for White Star and remained a popular ship for Cunard(as well as a highly economical ship to operate) and remained in service until November, 1960 before being laid up and going to the breakers. She remained in her original White Star livery right up to her retirement even after Cunard liquidated all White Star assets in 1949.
The one b&w photo shows an aerial of the Britannic compared to the Queen Mary and the Mauretania(of 1938)
