Build #1 - Peckham
This is the first in a weekly series named Build. I’m going to use these weekly posts as an opportunity to reflect and build my thinking of what I’m doing and what’s going on around me.
I moved to Peckham just over a week ago (14th May 2017) and by the end of my first week I decided that this is a special place that shouldn’t be overlooked. These definitely a collective belief that it’s basically Hackney but on the other side of river.. And to that I say yes, there are some shops and streets even that feel like a parallel universe of Victoria Park ‘village’ e.g. Bellenden Road. But those shops feel like the exception... Peckham is different, it has an energy about it, maybe its the size? maybe its the less than brilliant transport links. But there’s something about it that just makes me happy to walk back from the station.. With is fairly quiet, narrow and at some points one way road Rye Lane makes reminds me of Bishops Stortford only the people walking around in sports gear here are not chavs, they’re hipsters...
