Listen I don't care if it's been said before! I will never get over the fact that his favorite food is chocolate cake! It is probably the best part of the entire series. For context Xaden Riorson is 6'5, has a a sleeve tattoo, is the leader of a rebellion, essentially the king of a nation, one of the most powerful dragon riders of his generation, his entire personalty is that he's a strong sexy manly man with secrets and trauma, he fucked the daughter of the woman who carved 107 scars into his back, he lifted a grown man in the air with one arm because he hurt his girlfriend, he can literally wield darkness! And his favorite food is chocolate cake! ... I love it. Rebecca Yarros is fucking genius.

Xaden Riorson’s actions in Fourth Wing and Iron Flame both make more sense and become infinitely funnier when you remember that the man is 22-23 years old.

This man is AT BEST a first year grad student trying to finish compulsory military service in an active war zone while running the family business (ruling a legit kingdom) and taking on extracurriculars (leading a rebellion) as side hustles. On top of that there’s a literal plague of evil descending, institutional racism is against him, and his Situationship (calling Violet that cuz a lot happens there over two books and I’m trying to cover all the relationship levels) never seems to settle out for more than a month at a time.

Like, of course the decision making is not always on point. The man doesn’t even have a fully developed pre-frontal cortex yet and he hasn’t slept the recommended amount in 6 years.

But because deep down Xaden knows if he wasn’t cheating and using his second signet on the mat Garrick would hand him his ass every single time.

It’s my personal headcanon that Rhys has a kink for seeing Feyre in a crown

And any time she leaves the house she’s usually wearing some sort of circlet, even if it’s a simple silver one for casual situations (not because she wants to, necessarily, but because the look Rhys gets in his eye when he sees her in it makes her tummy feel funny :/)

And at night when it’s just them in their room he pulls out a few for her to choose between—dripping with gems or diamonds and he tells her she can take everything else off but that :)
