#TBT MY EDITORIAL ARCHIVE- ITALIAN VOGUE 2000 BY ELAINE CONSTANTINE
Back in January 2000 I took my first ever trip to South Africa with the legendary photographer Elaine Constantine.
Elaine's photography often put young people in situations you would expect to find them in whilst showing off exaggerated expressions, body language and colour.  As a crew we were all mates and we were there for a week, shooting twice for Italian Vogue and also an advertising campaign.  We had a great time exploring Cape Town, and we got to shoot on the beautiful beach there and more into the desert. This particular shoot starred a new singing/music sensation Jo Reynolds ( the blonde girl) and British models of the moment Louise, Molly and Will. One of the days from this shoot, Jo went out into the sea and got bitten by a jelly fish......... I remember it being a bit of a nightmare as she was stung quite badly, but Jo being the trooper she was, picked herself up, and got back to shooting again, thus helping to create these memorable, energetic, colourful images.
It was a trip I won't forget for a long time.

#TBT MY ADVERTISING ARCHIVE - VIVIENNE WESTWOOD S/S '03
Joana Preiss is an actress, model,  artist, filmmaker and musician.
She has appeared in numerous films by Christophe Honore, Olivier Assayas,  Nobuhiro Suwa and Pia Marais. plus she has collaborated with visual and sound works by American photographer Nan Goldin  who was the first to photograph her as an unknown.
She has been compared to and considered as a modern day Patti Smith. In 2002 photographer Corinne Day booked Joana for the S/S '03 Vivienne Westwood campaign together with British male model of the moment Dominic Brider for Vivienne Westwood MAN and an unknown blonde model for the Vivienne Westwood Anglomania  . Together they all appeared in these fresh Spring Summer campaigns. Corinne had photographed Joana and Dominic on numerous occasions already. Here's some of those images from the campaign that I worked on with my friend,  stylist Karl Plewka.

SUPERMODEL 31 ( PART 5)  - CARMEN KASS
Carmen's first Vogue cover - French Vogue
WE'RE BACK WITH THIS MONTHS SUPERMODEL 31  AND TODAY I'M FEATURING MODEL NO 5 ( IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER) ESTONIAN BORN CARMEN KASS.
WHAT IS SUPERMODEL 31? IT IS A LIST FEATURING ONLY 31 SUPERMODELS WHO HAVE APPEARED ON ALL OF THE TOP 4 VOGUE COVERS,  U.S, FRENCH, BRITISH AND ITALIAN VOGUE.
Carmen was born in Tallin, 14 September 1978 ( now age 37) and grew up in Mäo village, near Paide, the capital of Jarva County, Estonia. She speaks fluent Estonian, Russian and English.
At 14-years old, Carmen was discovered in a supermarket by a model scout from Milan. Her first dip into modelling wasn't successful, and she left Milan pretty soon after.
When she was 18 she decided to try her luck in Paris and suddenly bagged her first Vogue cover with French Vogue in Nov 1997 shot by Michael Thomson.
She'd began to appear in other Vogues too
By 1999, she had walked the catwalk for top designers such as Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Dolce and Gabbana, Versace, Fendi, Ralph Lauren, Givenchy, and was the muse of Michael Kors and the face of his brand for 10 consecutive years. She also starred in the now iconic campaigns for Christian Dior perfume 'J'adore' and Narciso Rodriguez 'For Her L'Absolu Fragrance'' of which she has been the spokesperson of Narciso for 15 consecutive years to date.
In 2000 VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards awarded her the "Vogue Model of the Year"
In 2007, she became the model and spokesperson for Max Factor.
Carmen is a keen and experienced Chess player was elected president of the Estonian National Chess League for 8 consecutive years. She ran a campaign for Tallinn to host the 2008 Chess Olympics,  2008 but Dreden, Germany was chosen.
In 2004 she also turned her hand to politics by joining Estonia's ruling Res Republic Party. She ran for the European Parliament for Estonia after the country joined the European Union in May 2004. She won 2315 votes from the Estonian electorate, but was not elected to the European Parliament
Ive worked with Carmen on quite a few occasions and she's really good fun and a great model too, very professional.
I went on one memorable trip with her with Photographer Corinne Day when we went to Jamaica for French Vogue and we shot a picture in a real Marijuana field. Corinne really wanted to do this picture and the producer said it would be very dangerous for us to go there but she organised it with some local guys and after a long walk through a forest we landed in this huge marijuana field and took photographs. I imagine its the first and the last time a Vogue crew have managed to get into this kind of field in Jamaica.  Amazingly dangerous and exciting and a trip I will never forget.
“Jamaique Safari”. Carmen Kass by Corinne Day for Vogue Paris, June/July 2001 Hair by Me
AND SO TO CARMENS ALL IMPORTANT VOGUE COVERS AND EDITORIAL.

#TBT - FROM MY EDITORIAL ARCHIVE ITALIAN VOGUE WITH LAUREN HUTTON & GEORGINA COOPER
Its April 1999 and US Vogue was published.
I worked on a shoot in that issue that felt very special at the time. The legendary Lauren Hutton was cast in the shoot with British Model of the moment the gorgeous and vicious, gap toothed ( like Lauren) Georgina Cooper.
Georgina sprung to prominence when Corinne Day shot her. Another British photographer emerged around this time , Elaine Constantine,  who shot Georgina also and put her on the cover of The face magazine. Elaine used to assist Nick Knight and when she left to go it alone she created a unique style of photography that was totally recognisable as hers. It was nothing like Nick's which was slick and re-touched. Elaine, who grew up in Manchester, kind of went back to her raw roots and began to photograph girls on the streets,  out and about, full of energy and life, having a great time and enjoying life to the full.
I began to work with Elaine in the late 90's and I loved her energy on set. She would get everyone dancing, singing, jumping around and we even did group aerobics some mornings.
So we all flew to NY to shoot this family consisting of Lauren Hutton as the all American grandmother, Georgina Cooper as the daughter and a group of kids as the grand children.
These legendary shots were born out of that shoot, and everybody thought it was uncanny how similar Lauren and Georgina looked.
I hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed creating them.

THIS MONTH'S Q&A:  MAKE UP ARTIST HIROMI UEDA
Hiromi Ueda, came to the UK from Japan in her gap year at University from Japan.
The beautiful Hiromi, who has the delicate sensibility of most Japanese women,  loved England so much, she decided to stay. She married an Italian, studied jewellery design but ended up doing make up and riding around London on the back of her husbands motorbike. She has done it all rather well,  might I add. I've worked with Hiromi on numerous occasions and her make-up is both delicate and bold depending on what's required, as well as contemporary and with an edge. Hiromi works with photographers David Sims, Benjamin Huseby Alexander, Boo George, Alasdair McLellan, Solve Sundsbo and Paul Wetherell to name a few, citing Burberry, Maison Margiela,   Puma, Giorgio Armani and McQ as some of her top clients. Below is Hiromi's Q&A with me. I hope you enjoy finding out about her background and how she got to where she got in her career, as well as some fun questions she answered.
Thank You Hiromi.

MOODS COMEDY MONDAY - I'M DARKER THAN YOU - GOTH JUICE
Another Mighty Boosh moment, I was listening to Radio 6 yesterday and Noel Fielding was presenting for a couple of hours. Reminded me how funny he is. Anyhow in this clip, Vince convinces Howard to cancel his plans to hang out with some goth girls, but Howard needs to go dark. Hilarious clip from second series of The Mighty Boosh.

#TBT FROM MY ADVERTISING ARCHIVE- ARMANI EXCHANGE S/S 2010
BACK AT THE END OF 2009 I WAS BOOKED TO GO ON A TRIP WITH THE ARMANI EXCHANGE PEOPLE FOR THEIR SPRING SUMMER 2010 CAMPAIGN.
So off we all flew to the famous Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with the Armani Exchange regulars at the time, Irina Shayk and Clint Mauro, with some new additions to the model crew, Brazilian Marlon Teixeira, Czech model Tomas Skoloudik and Brazilian female model Tamiris Souza Freitas.
The images that were produced became some of AX's most sexiest images ever, with Marlon and Clint becoming the main stars together ( Marlin went on to become one of the biggest new male models ever) and at the time Irina had started to date football sensation Christiano Ronaldo so her rise to fame had begun too.
AX also produced from this shoot, some of the first Major Fashion Label, same gender couples underwear images for their Valentines Day campaign.
All the images are featured below including the special Valentines Images.
Enjoy the pics..... we had a great time creating them, especially as we had our wrap dinner at Hooters no less.
Also as a bonus, i've added a link to the official behind the scenes video from the shoot.

AND THE MOODIE GOES TO....... "MOST STYLISH FRENCH FILM EVER"
We're back with "And the Moodie Goes To"........
.........my own personal awards that I give to what I consider the best hair moments ever, whether they be in music, film, theatre, fashion or any other media.
Today The Moodie Goes to ..............
Breathless, the 1960's French Film starring Jean Seaberg and Jean-Paul Belmondo. I've given it the award of "Most Stylish French Film Ever".
Jean sported what I consider one of the best short haircuts ever, on a par with Mia Farrow's pixie crop in Rosemary's Baby, and Jean Paul was just the coolest guy ever with his unkempt haircut that was groomed here and there in the film.
This film has been referenced many a time in fashion, including the haircuts.
Below you can see the trailer for this film known as À bout de souffle; "out of breath" in French.
Breathless
is a 1960 French film written and directed by Jean-Luc Goddard about a criminal played by Jean-Paul Belmondo and his American girlfriend Jean Seaberg . It was Godard's first feature-length work and represented Belmondo's breakthrough as an actor.
Breathless
was one of the earliest, most influential examples of French New Wave, known as
nouvelle vague
cinema. Breathless brought international acclaim to this new style of French filmmaking. At the time, the film attracted much attention for its bold visual style. A fully restored version of the film was released in the U.S. for its 50th anniversary in May 2010. When originally released in France, the film attracted a staggering total of 2,082,760 cinemagoers.

FROM MY EDITORIAL ARCHIVE: AMBER VALETTA FOR HARPERS BAZAAR USA OCT 1996
Back in 1996, I was booked to work for the first time with legendary photographer Patrick Demarchelier for Harpers Bazaar USA. The team was pretty legendary when I think about it, there was 90's Supermodel Amber Valetta, Stylist extraordinaire Sara Jane Hoare and genius make up artist Lisa Eldridge. This shoot titled "Free Spirit" was created in the beautiful Scottish Highlands where we stayed on the amazing Cawdor Estate. The estate is owned by Isabella Cawdor, 36, wife of Colin, the seventh Earl of Cawdor and twenty-fifth Thane of Cawdor, near Inverness. We were all very privileged to be able to stay at Drynachan Lodge on the estate and be fed off the fat of the land. I saw parts of Scotland I'd never seen before including beaches and highlands. Lisa Eldridge ( the make-up artist) and I even spent an afternoon singing on the highlands and re-writing an old punk song in the style of Julie Andrews in The Sound Of Music ( for fun of course) whilst we waited for Amber to arrive from the US. Anyway I hope you enjoy this editorial. It's one of my favourites in terms of beautiful surroundings.

MY NEW EDITORIAL - JAPANESE VOGUE OCT 2015, STARRING LILY DONALDSON
In May of this year I flew to Stockholm in Sweden for a shoot. The shoot was for Japanese Vogue and the whole team stayed just outside of Stockholm on the edge of the sea. The model was the British beauty Lily Donaldson who is back modelling after taking a short sabbatical. Lily looks better than ever and on the day of the shoot we took a boat into the Swedish Archipelago and began shooting this amazing story on very remote islands. When we were there I knew it was going to be a special shoot because the landscape was out of this world, but now the shoot has just been published it's just reminded me how amazingly beautiful it was where we were, and the story is even more special than i ever imagined. I hope you enjoy looking at these images as much as we all enjoyed making them........

Happy Monday Everyone!!
Many of you know I'm a huge Catherine Tate fan.
Well these characters were another set of people Catherine created for "The Catherine Tate Show" that was so popular. It's a ridiculously posh mother with her ridiculously posh kids and friends.
I shall say no more and let you watch........ Gooseberry and Cinnamon Yoghurt anyone?
