Here’s another ‘80s Space Crowd Saturday: David B. Mattingly’s cover art to “Desperate Measures,” by Joe Clifford Faust, 1989. I think we can add Bladerunner right alongside A New Hope when it comes to influentially seedy sci-fi bars.

In Draconian ancestor worship, bones are often symbols of good luck and fortune. Most soldiers often don jewelry made from the bones or teeth of animals they have killed for a stronger spiritual connection. They're also used as an intimidation tactic against enemies.

Standard-Issue Draconian Combat Armory
Since I made the uniform and equipment for the vat-grown Graylien gunner, I though it would be a good chance to remake the Draconian uniform and add some weapons as well.

Chromiant petrification is the process in which biological matter transforms into a stone-like material after extended physical contact with an ichor crystal. Prolonged exposure, however, can lead to madness or mutation.
This was originally supposed to be posted on Halloween for spooky reasons, but better now than never.

The equipment of the vat-grown, far taller Graylien field gunners that are used as infantry in the Zetan Kingdoms is one of the many examples of the civilization's high genetic engineering and cybernetic production.

The Zetan Kingdoms
The short-bodied Grayliens lived in the polity of the Zetan Kingdoms. Despite being technologically advanced enough for space travel, they rarely leave their mountain-sized acropolises, let alone their super-large, terrestrial homeworld of Zetas. They've also created the Semi-Liquid Intelligent Mechanical Entity (S.L.I.M.E.), a mass of gray goo that depleted a majority of the planet's natural resources and now resides as a shimmering silver sea in a dry ocean basin of a newly barren planet. In this outbreak, the Zetan Kingdoms hollowed out entire mountain ranges to seek refuge. Before the Long War with the Dracosphere, they were in an era of relative peace.

The Dracosphere's History 3 : Noteworthy Conquests
During its conquests, the Dracosphere has subjugated numerous other "lesser" civilizations and even hundreds of different races into its space-faring empire. Many of which failed to evade the imperialistic encroachment of the Dracosphere, but the ones listed here were the most note-worthy due to both their history and how they evaded invasion for longer than a year.
Thought to have been simple hunter-gatherers on a glacial planet called Zemys, the small-bodied Koldari lived as late Neolithic tribal states near the equator. To adapt to their ice age world, the reptilian Koldari are covered in specialized, fur-like scales. Chieftains are selected from "viceroy eggs" and sent to one of the polar temples, north for females and south for males, with minimal clothing or gear to make their way back alone. While traveling back, both Bergmann's law and the ichor they ingested take place within the chieftain-in-training, causing both extreme growth, fire-breathing and in some cases wings. These feats left the Koldari as a formidable fighting force against the Draconian invasion until their southern temple was destroyed, leading to their defeat and incorporation into the Dracosphere.
Out of all the subjugated races conquered by the Draconians, none were more loyal than the Pa'reetai insectoids of Odonass III. Governed by various caste-based monarchies, the Pa'reetai differ physically depending on their roles, such as the "soldiers" equipped with a stinger-tipped thorax and scythe-like hands or the slimmer-bodied "workers," all of whom have large compound eyes and long wings. When they were invaded by the Dracosphere, the Pa'reetai fought with courage, swiftness, and in swarms of innumerable soldiers. After the incursion, relations between the species grew surprisingly close, with the Pa'reetai often being used as entertainers, cleaners, and even reconnaissance agents for Draconian generals.
In the tropical world of Kank'ul, lived the serpentine Yigan who lived in isolated city-states. The Yigan worshipped a sun god called the "Father of All Serpents." The strongest state on the planet was an alliance of several Yigan city-states under the rule of the Viper King and his caste of warrior-priests. Yigan's specialty consists of jungle and desert warfare, poison-tipped weaponry, and close-quarter combat. Despite fending off Draconian invasions for years, they eventually surrendered. There are numerous reasons for Yigan capitulation, but the most defining ones are lack of resources, revolution against the Viper King, Yigan city-states siding with the Dracosphere, and a devastating alien epidemic introduced by the Draconians.
The Vulpitsune are a race of humanoid foxes that reside on the planet Huli. They managed to evade the Draconian invasion twice thanks to two well-timed solar flares that destroyed their fleets. Most Vulpitsune live in villages settled in mountain valleys and shorelines. After contact had been made, the Draconians hired most Vulpitsune as covert agents and mercenaries due to their expertise in deception, infiltration, and espionage that persisted on their feudal homeworld's warring states.
Since then, these intergalactic conquerors have been unmatched and have held dominion over a substantial portion of the galaxy for quite some time. They were unstoppable. That is, until they met the Grayliens of the Zetan Kingdoms. This meeting, which took place a few millennia ago, would change the way the Dracosphere perceived itself and the fate of the Milky Way.

The Dracosphere's History 2 : Mount Ezhaan
In Draconian folklore, the tribes have unified under the leadership of a being simply known as "the Ezhaan" (the highest Draconian title), a warrior and spiritual teacher, whom a council proclaimed as the ruler of all Draconians.
The Great State of the Ezhaan's Absolute Dynasty emerged and was able to capture large portions of the Draconian homeworld and combine them into a tightly controlled area, enforce martial law throughout the planet, and establish a merit system for the general populace.
In the years leading up to the death of the first Ezhaan, the Great State, then under the rule of the council that appointed him, had entered the Industrial Age, with steam-powered vehicles able to cross the dense jungles and seas that were once impassable.
The Ezhaan's empire would somewhat fracture due to failed rebel states but would soon enter another technological revolution, advancing the Draconian race from the Industrial Age into the Space Age by roughly a century or so.
In honor of the first Ezhaan, many statues were constructed across the worlds under the Dracosphere. Including a colossal sculpture carved out of the face of an isolated mountain range now called "Mount Ezhaan," looking over the flatlands where sky burials are performed on Hylonomos IV.
What's interesting is that every statue of the first Ezhaan seems to always depict him as a salamander in robes wearing a loop of prayer beads around his neck. Which is peculiar because the Draconian race consists entirely of non-avian reptiles (except snakes), not amphibians. So what happened to them?

The Dracosphere's History 1 : The Draconian Race
The Draconians are a diverse race of spacefaring reptilian humanoids that originated on Hylonomos IV, a lush planet characterized by dense jungles, rugged mountain ranges, and vast seas. The wilderness helped influence their warrior culture.
As time progressed, this conflict between the tribes of the Draconian subspecies would eventually grow into a technological arms race to defeat one another. This progress helped most of the tribes on Hylonomos IV achieve iron-based tools and gunpowder weaponry. Much of traditional Draconian culture and literature arose during this period of warring tribes, with philosophical poetry being among their most respected and ancient traditions.
Speaking of traditions, Fossil-Shamans were also an important part of Draconian culture. Those individuals wield psychic powers that were rooted in the shamanistic traditions back in the jungles of their homeworld and channeled through the totems and bones of their ancestors. These traditions were descended from the tribes' discovery of magical crystals (later revealed to be solidified ichor) that had fallen to the planet millennia ago and were embedded into shamanistic tools.
Once they reached their Space Age after centuries of conflict and eventual unification, the Draconians constructed the Basking Barges, large generation ships that resemble a tiered tower with multiple eaves and are able to travel at sub-light speed equipped with photon sails. Because of this slow travel, the Draconian interstellar empire (now the Dracosphere) was only able to cover roughly 30% of the galaxy in a hundred thousand years, making it the largest stellar empire in history at the time.
