hey! so, i know i haven’t been here much in the first place & never really got many threads going because i didn’t do the starters i was supposed to, but i’m gonna put buffy on a little hiatus until i can do a quick rewatch of btvs. i’ll probably reboot her in like a month or so when i’m done with my freshman year of college and have the time to give her like i used to. if anyone still wants to write or talk or anything, i’m still over on @hervisions pretty much daily and you’re always welcome to ask for my d/iscord info! until then, it was super nice to talk and write with the people i got a chance to, and i hope to write with you again in the future, as well as everyone i didn’t get a chance to write with!

What is your advice for someone who wants to RP on tumblr but literally has no idea how to make icons or anything of that fancy stuff. It is quite intimidating...

     hello!!  first i want to preface this by emphasizing that i’m not the best at advice or anything so please don’t feel like you need to take my word for this. but.  honestly i started roleplaying when i was 11 (probably too young, i know. it was a Different Time), and that was on myspace when graphics or themes or icons were never really a HUGE thing, so in the past couple of years on tumblr it’s been like a whirlwind. the aesthetic trends change so quickly and i don’t always keep up on them, or particularly want to. on the flip side, there’s a lot of trends i follow that i don’t even like just to make fitting in a little easier.

     if there’s one piece of advice i can give you on roleplaying here, it’s this:  you do you. focus on your writing and characterization, if that’s what you’re here to do. i’m not saying that icons or themes or fancy stuff is bad and you shouldn’t focus on it if it’s something you like, but so often people get caught up in that and how the writing looks on the page than the actual content of the writing. i’m super guilty of this, and it destroys my muse almost every time -- which is how i’ve ended up remaking my buffy summers blog a million times the past five years.

    just write! if you want to roleplay, you should roleplay. you shouldn’t have to feel like you need fancy stuff to write, and i can certainly promise you that there’s a million other people on here that could care less about the fancy stuff. personally, i don’t care what my partner uses or doesn’t use; i just enjoy writing with people who love the characters they write for as much as i do mine. if you DO want to get into the fancy stuff though, there’s lots of free resources available out there!! rpc blogs, hollow art, etc... there’s a lot of available icons for use out there if you don’t want to/can’t make them, and a lot of themes out there if you don’t want to code your own. just write and have fun, if that’s what you wanna do!!

    i really hope this helps a little.  i wish you the best of luck & i hope you decide to start roleplaying here!  there’s ups and downs, but overall, there’s a lot of fun to be had & lots of nice people to meet here.  :)

      weakness isn’t in her vocabulary.  it’s been wiped clean, the memory replaced by words like  strength and skill  /  hard and stone. her strength is reflected in the stares she receives, in the beating of the hearts of those she’s saved.  she rallies against it, but she feels it  –  she knows the weakness remains.  that’s reflected in the absence, of the empty chairs at the dinner table.  the graves at restfield.  the ones she failed to save.

      she wants to be strong.  she can fake it, at least  —-  most of the time.  but now, sitting across from the girl that had once been but a ghost to her, she breaks.  when the tears come, they don’t stop.  she can’t stop them.  not anymore.  not after years & years of fighting for this.  the shambles of a life filled of “what if’s” and “almost.”

      tara’s words were the finale she’d been searching for.  a sob escapes as she leans forward, arms banding around the other’s middle, mascara stained cheeks hidden behind a curtain of honey blonde hair.  ❝   i’m sorry,  ❞   she repeats,  over and over until she’s sure the words are heard,  though she’s unaware of the intended audience.  doesn’t quite know what she’s apologizing for,  but the mantra repeats until her breath becomes even and the tears cease.
