Left was a year ago and right is today. I am so much healthier and happier than I was. Self love and care feels so good.

It was a year ago that I resolved I was going to stop drinking. I got this tattoo, thinking that having it would remind me that I was not gonna drink. That was 365 days ago. I have only been sober 21. Changing behavior doesn't happen overnight. Don't give up.

A message for you from 24 Hours a Day
AA Thought for the Day
The prodigal son “took his journey into a far country and wasted his substance with riotous living.” That’s what we alcoholics do. We waste our substance with riotous living. “When he came to himself, he said: ‘I will arise and go to my father.’ ” That’s what you do in AA. You come to yourself. Your alcoholic self is not your real self. Your sane, sober, respectable self is your real self. That’s why we alcoholics are so happy in AA. Have I come to myself?
Meditation for the Day
Simplicity is the keynote of a good life. Choose the simple things always. Life can become complicated if you let it be so. You can be swamped by difficulties if you let them take up too much of your time. Every difficulty can be either solved or ignored and something better substituted for it. Love the humble things of life. Revere the simple things. Your standard must never be the world’s standard of wealth and power.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may love the simple things of life. I pray that I may keep my life uncomplicated and free.
Quoted from the app 24 Hours a Day.

I stood today in front of the coolers at the convenience store. All the different beers, ciders, selterz and malts calling my name. The wine was whispering from the corner.
I took several deep breaths and thought about getting the spins, or even worse, blacking out. I thought about all the mornings with pounding headaches, the horrible naseau and uncontrollable puking.
With that, I grabbed my Strawberry Banana Body Armor drink and coffee creamer and got the heck outta there.
Going to sleep sober, waking up no hangover.

I promise that recovery might not feel like a revolution at the beginning and that things might feel like they aren't getting better as fast as they should, but you should keep going even if things are not how you expected, because those small little changes you are making will amount to significant change. And when your results start to come, allow yourself to see it, to reflect upon it, to be proud of yourself and to remember how vital the smallest of changes were to you. Remember that those small things are what create a bigger, much more complex picture. Recovery is about progression over perfection, there is no ideal way to heal. You are already healing, but you must allow yourself to see it. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging your progress! Validate your recovery.

It doesn't matter how big your dreams are or if your life seems small and simple compared to other people's lives. It doesn't matter what society thinks you should be. What is truly a remarkable thing to do at times like these is for you to manage to live the life that you want to when there is so much to do, so much happening that is out of your control and so much pressure to fit a perfect mold of what a successful person is. The remarkable thing about your life should be that it makes you happy and healthy in the ways you hoped it would. Don't let others define for you what is a life worth living, make up your own life and your own happiness, even if others don't think this is the conventional way to be successful. Success shouldn't be a measure of productivity and wealth, but a way of reflecting on your life and seeing that against all odds, you have been happy.

sometimes I see pictures from when I was younger and it makes me wonder why I spent so much time hating myself. sweet little baby me. I was still growing. I was still learning. I was still getting used to my own skin. I didn’t deserve that
