Career in marine mammal rehabilitation
Is anyone here in this career?? Marine mammal rehabilitation or wildlife rehabilitation? I’ve finally decided what I want to do after thinking about it for a very very long time (basically my whole life). It’s been hard trying to figure it out but I believe it’s finally come to me. If anyone is in this career, can you send me a message with some tips, or what are the pros/cons about the job. Maybe how you started or what sparked your interest in doing what you do? What degree you earned or what classes you took and how you got your foot in the door? I’ve always been interesting in doing something with marine life but I’ve never really pursued it. I’m ready to start this journey and I would like any help/advice I can get! Thank you!

Has anyone ever tried this? Did it work? Did you have any skin issues? Did you like it? I've only used it once so far and will use it again tonight. This is the last thing I'm trying before resorting to a dermatologist for my acne

To be vegan or not
Why is it so hard to decide? Lately I've kinda been slacking on the vegan stuff, just because when I've been going out to eat I've been eating shrimp and a couple other things. This weekend I decided to go out, I didn't cave, I chose to do this. I went all out and I had steak and chicken and shrimp and dairy and tuna fish this weekend. I decided that the way I'll start eating now is kinda like what I've been doing. eat totally vegan at home and then eat kinda whatever I want when I go out. I do feel a difference in my body after this weekend. A slight difference that I can't even describe. And I don't know if it's because I ate all the meats this weekend or if it's because I didn't eat healthy at all this weekend.. it's either from both or moreso that everything wasn't too healthy besides the broccoli I had lol. I only went vegan to help fix my acne.. and that didn't even help.. so it's not like I'm attached to anything while eating vegan other than I tend to eat healthier.. so it's such a hard decision.. I guess I'll have to keep testing things out but regardless I'm only eating salads this week because I gained 4 pounds 😂

Has anyone ever taken this before? You take a shot of it everyday and it is packed full of vitamins and stuff. Supposed to make you feel amazing. This morning I took my first shot and it's supposed to last about a month. We'll see!

Been a while
Need to get back into it. I was down to 135 lbs and I'm back up to 140. Not life changing or earth shattering but it's not the way I want to go. I just want to get down to 130!!! Seems to be so hard!!! I've been doing well with the vegan eating. I need to work on not eating so many of the processed meals though and start getting more greens and whole foods in. Like before, I stillll need to get back into yoga again. I don't know why it's so hard for me to get back in it. Or stay consistent with it. I guess because I'm in a different place emotionally now than back when I was doing yoga almost everyday. But emotionally, I'd rather be where I am now. I'm happier. Just a lazy motherfucker lol.

Jackfruit!
Does anyone know where one can buy jackfruit in South Florida? Mainly just looking for canned jackfruit.. I've tried Publix, Trader Joe's, Fresh Market and nothing yet... so I have like Walmart, target, and Whole Foods left to look... or maybe online?

Food processors!
I really want a high speed food processor, like what the fancy vegans have that can make non-grainy feeling cashew "cheese" sauces. Because I've tried to make a couple sauces/dips now and I feel like they're not as satisfying because they have a weird texture or probably not even mixed enough. So does anyone have a high speed food processor recommendations? The best, the cheapest, what not to get, where to look, best brand, etc.?! I may ask for one for my birthday because those things are expensive lmao

Kinda loving the diet mindset I'm on right now. And by diet I mean just the way I'm eating. So I started trying vegan foods so I could eventually maybe fully transition, but i haven't been forcing myself. It's a process and I accept that. I'm still not even sure if I do wanna go fully vegan. I am honestly doing it right now to try and clear my skin up, to see if it will help. And I am proud of myself because no I haven't been fully vegan at all during the past couple months but I've definitely cut down on animal products a lot. And I'm not hating it. And I've found I like way more healthy foods than I thought! Before this, I would never touch beans. It's great. Except these past couple weeks. I've been hanging out with a lot of friends lately and we all know how that can be so when I'm with them I either just don't eat orrrr I just don't stress and eat whatever the fuck I want. Loving it lol. I want to remember the good times I have with people, not stress that I totally blew the vegan ways and have had chicken and cheese like 5 times in the past 2 weeks lol. When I'm by myself though I eat like 98.5% vegan. So I was still eating more vegan than not. What I really really reallyyyyy need to start doing though is yoga- which I already do but I need to kick my ass and do it every day. I wanna get toned! Nothing extreme but just to help with the lil extra pudge lol. That's it.

I. Just made. AMAZING tofu salad (think chicken salad). Oh my god. I'm so happy with it. This is my first successful tofu meal! (Although the other tofu meals I've attempted involved cooking it, so this is a completely different route) So for dinner tonight! Left over mashed potatoes and corn, left over pizza, and this freakin amazing tofu salad. Recipe for tofu salad: Some stuff doesn't have specific measurements because I just eyeballed it. I did go off a recipe but a ton of this stuff I added in on my own, and I'm so happy I did!! 1 block extra firm tofu crumbled in hands, 1 stalk celery, 1 avocado, onion, dried cranberries, fresh dill and parsley, turmeric, red grapes, tomato, strawberries, red pepper, bread and butter pickles and some of the juice, sunflower kernels, pumpkin seeds, 6 tbsp vegan mayo, 1 tbsp Dijon mustard, 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 2 tbsp pure maple syrup, 1 tsp olive oil, pepper, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder

Dudddeeeee. Vegan pizza. Not rocket science but I did get this recipe from the minimalist baker with a tweak or two of my own. So good.

So freakin good man, Gardein teriyaki "chicken" sizzled up on the stove top with coconut oil. Couscous with some salt, coconut oil, and vegan butter. And some good ol roasted veggies: 450° F. - 25 mins - flipped half wayish through. Olive oil, Mushrooms, yellow squash, zucchini, onion, red yellow and green peppers, Brussels sprouts, cherry tomatoes, garlic and onion salt, Cajun seasoning, dried oregano and rosemary, and I think some paprika? Oh my god. Yes. You know it's good when you document exactly what you did lol. Gardein has really truly blessed me lmao, idk what I would do without them. Also for the record... I like couscous and rice 100x better than quinoa.

Last night me and some family ate at Bahama Breeze while discussing my cousins wedding shower plans. While I was at work I looked up the menu to see what food they had there. Online I found they do have a vegan dish and a couple vegetarian dishes. So unfortunately the one I went to did not have the vegan dish, and that sucks because it looked good online! I went with a vegetarian dish though, jackfruit tacos! I even kept healthy with the side and chose a tomato salad (sorry French fries, I still love you). But so good! Never had either before, definitely went outside my comfort zone. I was excited about jackfruit because I've been wanting to try that.. and being in Florida I'm not even sure where you buy jackfruit? Maybe farmer markets? Anyway. So although it was just vegetarian (maybe it was the BBQ sauce or aioli on it that didn't make it vegan, idk) that was my first restaurant outing since I've started this experiment!

Tried vegan Mac and cheese. Bought vegan cheese for the first time. Mac and cheese was meh and the vegan cheddar cheese was very meh.. probably won't make or buy again lol. I had to try though! I'll see soon how those couple other cheeses taste... I couldn't finish my bowl of Mac and cheese though so I had a Gardein vegan bbq pork pocket instead. So much better. Maybe I should just leave these vegan remakes to the professionals

Wake up and open your curtains. Your windows too.
Drink some tea or coffee, whatever pleases you. Notice every sip.
Have some fresh fruit and finish breakfast feeling full.
Stand outside and feel the air. Cool or warm, it will make you feel real.
Get some exercise. Yoga to soothe, running to breathe, lifting for strength.
Take care of your body. Have a nice shower and pamper as much as you want afterward.
If you’re going to work, remember you have the chance to make anyone’s day or to ruin it. Act accordingly.
Weed out the bad language. It’s only creating tension in your body and mind. Kind words are infinitely more appreciated.
Take some time each day to improve your mind. Keep reading that great book. Listen to an incredible piece of music. Practice an instrument or a skill. The progress is its own reward.
Pictures will help you remember how wonderful life is. But spend less time on your phone and more time seeing the world face to face.
Go to sleep knowing that you have done well. Tomorrow is there with room to become even better.
-Notes to myself on how to become a better person this summer.

So I donate plasma twice a week. I woke up this morning at the devils hour of 5am to meet my appointment at 7am like usual... I wasn't even able to donate this morning because my blood pressure was low and my protein was just one point too low. I'm not even fully vegan yet and I'm already having nutrition issues! I mean I haven't eaten meat in about a week and a half or so but still Lol. Looks like if/when I fully commit to veganism, I'm gonna have to invest in some of those vegan multivitamin pills as back up!
