Mark: What are you in the mood for?
Helly: World domination.
Mark: That's a bit ambitious.
Helly: You are my world.
Mark: Aww...
Helly:
Mark:

Mark: OH.

I am expecting her to become an Innie Rights defender she’s too cool to stay on Cobel’s side.
Join the anti-Lumon rebellion with Irving and Reghabi. They’re doing more shit to take it down.
Cobel is just a mad scientist with her own agenda. Get out.

Yeah, I think he’s tied to the memory of Gemma.
Sure, you can separate sex from love, but he dated / hooked up with Alexa, and part of him fell “madly” in love with Helly.
He’s got his foot out the door already, without even knowing it.
And since Outies are technically your “ego”, and this is a show about ego death (“this is a card about a guy fighting himself”), it seems as if it’s mostly his ego keeping him tied to Gemma.
Strip that away, he’s in love with someone else.
this isn’t even me being biased toward the main ship, but hear me out: reintegration between innie and outtie mark isn’t just about memories syncing up, it’s about emotional alignment too. true reintegration between innie and outtie mark won’t happen until outtie mark confronts his real feelings for helly/helena. when i look at outtie mark, all i see is a man carrying guilt over gemma. personally (and i do mean personally, based on everything we’ve seen him do or not do), i don’t think he’s in love with her anymore. his subconscious has literally moved on, and outtie mark is just in denial at this point. he doesn’t want to face that hard truth. i do think he still loves gemma, for what they had, for what that relationship meant, but i think he’s no longer in love with her. and once he comes to terms with that, once he accepts that he is in love with someone else, their desires will realign. that’s when his reintegration will truly kick in and be completed.

So in other words —
“Gemma stuff was just the set-up to get Mark severed in the first place, but it’s not where we’re actually going with the story.”
Which fits what Dan has said since the beginning:
“This is a story about Mark Scout moving on and becoming whole.”
He said it in S1 press and S2 press.
kinda fucked up how innie mark told ms casey that what happens to them matters because they're people not just parts of people and yet now he only sees himself as an extension of his outie, he sets out to find his outie's wife and says if they find her he will leave the severance floor with her and let his outie figure it out from there - he has no designs or expectations past doing this for his outie so he can be happy again. he's not worried about what happens to him after that. he knows his outie chose to become severed because he lost his wife, so if they're reunited why would he have any reason to ever return to lumon? innie mark is fully willing to die for his outie, and now he has, because he's reintergrated. we don't know how much of the innie consciousness and personality is retained after reintegration but outie mark was not thinking of his innie in that moment, if he would survive this or even be okay with it. he only wanted to able to see gemma again. innie mark learns that his whole existence is merely a manifestation of his outie's grief and once that dissipates, so too does he.

I just saw someone on here call Mark S an “it”
“It’s a part of her husband and it decided to stay.”
With like 6K likes
Someone needs to save the MarkGemma community from Pro-Lumon thinking that neither Dan Erickson or Ben Stiller would agree with
What the fuck?

I need a spinoff about Lumon's underpaid graphics design team. Full stop animation in one week. 24 hours to make a mural on canvas of a dozen characters to compel Mark S. to complete his job. Quick just do some blackface oil paintings for one of our managers. Absolutely ridiculous.

The fact that we got an article after the finale saying “the only person on the cast who knows the ending is Adam Scott”
And then Britt dropping this. She knows too. 😂 They told her. Someone told her. Lol.
Tumblr media
“they’re still inside a labyrinth they don’t know how to get out of, but they’re together” there britt goes, giving another beautiful rundown of the final shot we got of mark and helly (x)
