A book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it, or explore an explosive idea without fear it will go off in your face. It is one of the few havens remaining where a man's mind can get both provocation and privacy. ~Edward P. Morgan

Growing up Dad took the Devil Dogs out of the box because if the box wasn’t thrown away you might accidentally summon a demon. Also once he said we couldn’t watch any Looney Toons featuring the Tasmanian Devil but he didn’t stick to that one.

A woman, I forget who, once asked a male friend why men felt threatened by women. He replied that they were afraid that women might laugh at them. When she asked a group of women why women felt threatened by men, they said, ‘We’re afraid they might kill us.’ He might fascinate you. I despise him with every fiber of my being.

Loved the spiritual journey of this movie. That shot of her when she first comes in to the space station and she curls up in a fetal position. It’s so warm and womblike. The. All the trials and her journey of self discovery followed by a kind of birth at the end, after plunging into the water and climbing out onto the wet sand. It’s a beautiful movie.
Houston in the blind, this is Mission Specialist Ryan Stone reporting from the Shenzhou. I’m about to undock from Tiangong, and I have a bad feeling about this mission.

Noah’s ark would be a cuter nursery-appropriate story if Noah gathered children and babies. I mean, skunks? Really? It is adorable seeing the cute cartoon animals climbing up the little path to the door of the ark. Wouldn’t it be nicer to see little 5-year old boys holding their little 3-year old sisters hands (and pulling their little newborn sister in a wagon), waiting in line with the other children for Noah to show them where to go in the ginormous boat? Cartoonists the globe over would die to draw the mostly naked toddler tripping over the paws of a huge sleepy lion and getting a huge swath of warm pink lion tongue slicking their hair to their little heads. Granted you still have the shocking devastation of the known world but oh well. You can’t have everything.

In literature (and film) a vampire isn’t always a literal blood sucker. If you have Character X who gets stronger as Character Z gets weaker (especially at their expense)—you have a vampire. Apt Pupil by Stephen King is a perfect example.

Enter the chilling world of Stephen King’s Castle Rock with the minute-long first look that premiered at New York Comic Con. The Hulu original anthology series will premiere in 2018.
Castle Rock is based in the fictional Maine town of the same name in which several Stephen King works are set, intertwining its characters, themes, and mythologies. I have no idea how they’re going to pull it off, but the teaser certainly looks promising.
From executive producer J.J. Abrams, the psychological horror series is created by Sam Shaw (Manhattan) and Dusty Thomason. André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Sissy Spacek, Billy Skarsgård, Jane Levy, Scott Glenn, and Terry O'Quinn star.
A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories such as Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption are either set there or contain references to Castle Rock. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.
