okay. after doing a bunch of jason required reading, feeling very motivated to writed chapter 2. should be out either today or tomorrow.

Jason's use of the passive voice in his LD narrations makes me Feel Feelings. Normally, the passive voice is used as a way to suppress the subject / agency. He's not an unreliable narrator in LD, but he's not entirely truthful either, not even to himself.

I realize Lobdell's RHATO is infamous and disliked, but I felt reading Issue #0 was worth it for this page alone.

guess who hasn't made substantial progress since her last post! it's me 😘😘 However, I did get room cleaning accomplished, so I think that's a W nonetheless.

Barbara, accompanied by the furious clicking of keys, told them that their upstart was apparently a Joker groupie. His chosen nom de guerre was "Red Hood" - a deep cut tribute to the Clown Prince of Crime. Tim couldn't exactly tell how this made her feel.

chapter two is halfway done! only halfway because... i took a break to read a bunch of comics & to finish my internship lol

When Batman and Robin reached the docks, they were greeted by calm crashes of waves and distant complaints of gulls. Twilight painted the sea with dazzling strokes of gold, and the stench of brine and sun-warmed metal surrounded them in a tangy embrace. It would've been beautiful, if the memory of the GCPD rooftop wasn't twisting the smell of steel into the iron of newly-spilt blood.

PWCYP, chapter two WIP (7/21)

Batman was apparently on conference call with Nightwing and Oracle.

"Robin's here. Let's get this underway," the Dark Knight thundered. The effect was somewhat ruined by Bruce taking delicate bite of shredded chicken. Tim hid a smile behind a sip of water.

"For those unaware," Oracle's synthesized voice began, "last night's patrol was..."

"-fff-ooo-BAR?" Nightwing's voice warbled; the audio was extremely choppy. Tim privately thought that "fucked up beyond all recognition" was an exaggeration. Patrol had been weirdly quiet, true. And yes, quiet generally did not mean good things for Gotham. But let's not get ahead of ourselves!

Y'all I damn near passed out when I saw this. It's a sign from the comic book Gods. I lied when I said I was done making Frankenstein/Red Hood crossover edits. I will never be done and none of your can stop me!!!!!

Jason wanting Bruce to (let him) kill IS about a clash of philosophies but it’s also fundamentally about grief and how love is shown and perceived and how you cannot truly know what you weren’t there for.

Jason hears Talia say he’s unavenged and he reads a newspaper about Bruce returning the Joker to police custody. Then he does more research and even tries to see Bruce’s reaction to him first hand in Hush.

But he does not actually…see or know the in between. Newspapers don’t tell you everything. A few encounters three years after your death don’t tell you everything. Jason does not know how people actually mourned him. Post-Crisis Jason only saw ONE of the many many times that Bruce tried to kill the Joker because of him. He doesn’t see Dick or Babs crying over him.

Even if he saw it, the way they love him after his death is SO messed up that he might not be able to recognize it as such anyway. (How can you tell that he was my biggest failure and don’t be like Jason and he wasn’t trained/careful/etc enough is still rooted in loving you and yet grieving you so terribly they mistreat you and your memory?)

Red Hood is about moral codes but it’s also about people changing when you’re not looking, and reaching out over and over and pushing everyone’s buttons to see if they’ll still love you and they don’t but they do and having them reach out to you and you refuse to accept it because none of you can reconcile your messed up ways of caring too much about something that is broken and different than you wish it was.

To be more precise, Bruce had purchased the car - small, green, temperamental, and used - with the intention of giving it to Jason for his sixteenth birthday. Jason, however, must have found it in the back of the garage several months before, eventually noticed the dorky custom plates which read "JTSPQOD" (JT's Pequod, a choice Tim was sure must have inspired a wry comment from Alfred), and then quickly made himself at home not unlike a crab moving into a new shell.

Officially, New Jersey law prohibited anyone under the age of seventeen from driving without the supervision of a licensed adult. Officially, Jason should not have started driving at all until he received his permit at sixteen. Unofficially, this was Gotham, and, unofficially, this was Jason.

I fell down a YouTube rabbit hole and watched some videos about people who pretended to be Anastasia and it got me thinking.... Idk if this has been written before, but!

Batfam AU where Jason legally comes back from the dead but literally the whole world thinks he is a con artist pretending to be Bruce Wayne's dead son for money. Lots of reporters have tried to disprove his claim but no evidence will convince Bruce and the media thinks Bruce is too deep in his mourning/ too stupid to realize the truth. I mean come on, his eyes are green, a completely different color from the real Jason!

Jason is having the time of his life. This is the greatest prank of all time. He absolutely leans into it because it is a good cover but also because it is hilarious.
