So... Let's talk about Europe. I went to Copenhagen today. It's been about 8 years since I was last there, but I lived there for a while back in the good old days when I was young. So today I walked past a pub I used to hang out in quite a lot back then and it turns out it's right across the street from the synagogue. I never noticed that before because back in the day it was just a rather non-descript building. The reason I noticed it's a synagogue today is that there were some really heavily armed military looking guys standing guard outside and heavily armed men is, thankfully, not something I see very often. Naturally I had to take an extra look what the building was and why they were there. So this is where we've come to now. Machine guns in our public spaces to protect ordinary people who just want to pray. That is how real and powerful antisemitism, nazism and fascism has become in Europe, in a really rather short time. My wonderful colleague gifted me this angel's trumpet (Brugmansia) and it's growing so well 😊 Though popular for its beauty and scent, this is a really witchy plant. Closely related to the Datura, it is highly toxic. Historically it has been used medicinally because of its content of among other things scopolamine and atropine, however, because of its toxicity, I STRONGLY ADVICE AGAINST ingesting any part of the plant or its fruits. This is a plant that kills. Wear gloves when handling it and wash your hands carefully afterwards. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Best wellie-hack ever! I always hated wellies, because they're impossible to wear without having your socks slipping down and ending up in an uncomfortable huge lump under your foot. Or so I thought. After 37 years I've finally found a solution to this problem. Yes, I'm that slow. Just in case there's someone else out there who is as slow as I am, here's what to do: Wear socks that are a bit longer than the hight of the boots, then fold the socks over the edge of the boots, and they will stay in place (only tried this with my boots and socks so no guarantee it will work for everyone). Finally I can walk the dogs in the rain without having to choose between cold and wet feet or stopping and pulling the socks up every third steps. 😁
