Happy official Gotcha-Day Charlie! We've had this rascal for two years today, which we've also deemed his birthday. Nobody ever believes me when we say he was at the shelter for a year. My goal is to get him out more places and share his story - this is the kind of companion you're missing out on when you read they've been there a while. They may take work, but I promise it's worth it. 馃惥馃惗馃挄

Just harboring this shy black lab under my desk. She doesn't understand the concept of a leash, but adores belly rubs and gives kisses. #adoptme (at Delaware Humane Association)

This is the longest I've stayed in one place that wasn't "home." Home is now my parents and here is now home. I never imagined myself staying put this long, and I frequently threaten to seek adventure. He means the world to me, but so does the world.

Took this lady to the vet since she hasn't seen one in quite some time. I wanted to get her vaccinations up to date since I work with sick dogs frequently. During her check up, they told me she has more than cat allergies, but a fungal skin disease causing more discomfort, so they gave me ointment and medicated shampoo for that. Then, I agreed to a heartworm test since it'd been years since she's had any flea/tick preventions. As luck would have it, the test showed she's been exposed to Lyme Disease. Since the test to see if she currently has the disease would cost more than simply treating her, she'll be getting the meds for sure. The reason I'm explaining all of this is because although your pet may seem happy and healthy, there could be things you would never think of going on. PLEASE keep your animals up to date with their vaccinations and check-ups. This one visit may have saved a few years of her life.

I don't know why when I tell people that my bf's dog is allergic to my cat, they ask if I could get rid of the cat as if it's no big deal. Why do people think letting go of a pet is so easy? Being the first pet I've ever had, I could never imagine life without her. So, the endless battle continues. We have tried special shampoos, dander reducing serum, daily cleaning/vacuuming, allergy meds, keeping them separated at night, adding oils to the food, etc. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!!
