i was just watching a mitski interview where she was asked about touring in europe a while back. basically, on the day of her show in london, she got to the venue she was performing at and this guy was sat outside crying. so mitski approached him to see if he was okay and he told her that the venue was unwilling to put on this show he was writing. mitski not only helped him finish and publish the play, but told him to never give up on his dreams. hamlet debuted at the globe theatre, the same space where mitski had performed nearly a year prior. that man was william shakespeare.

Protecting Black girls is cool until itโ€™s a Black girl you donโ€™t like. Itโ€™s cool until sheโ€™s unattractive. Itโ€™s cool until sheโ€™s dark skinned or plus sized. Protecting Black girls is cool until sheโ€™s trans. Protecting Black girls is cool when their hair is curly and their eyes are light. Thatโ€™s a missing poster worth reblogging, right? Okay, cool.

Pepper knows sheโ€™ll never remarry.
She doesnโ€™t think she could, even if she tried. And she doesnโ€™t. Try, that is. Because of all the things sheโ€™s trying to do these days (keep Stark Industries running, running damage control as Rescue, be a good parent, make sure Morgan doesnโ€™t grow up traumatised, stop everyone from looking at her with so much pity), finding a new Tony is definitely not on her list.
The therapist Rhodey recommends her says thatโ€™s not what dating is. Itโ€™s rebuilding. The lady has experience. She mustโ€™ve gotten a lot of work after the snap. But Pepper knows what rebuilding is. Itโ€™s rebar and concrete and straining to push up walls with her thrusters in high and then itโ€™s landing, itโ€™s hearing a small crunch and looking down because somehow, inexplicably thereโ€™s a plastic iron man mask crushed under her boot and when she picks it up, and hands it back to the doe-eyed kid, sheโ€™s thankful the helmet hides her tears. Thatโ€™s what rebuilding is, she snaps and the therapist - her name is something like Linda or Margaret and it doesnโ€™t matter - the therapist just nods and Pepper doesnโ€™t go back for a second appointment.
She knows that itโ€™s not the point. That she didnโ€™t win that argument, if it even was one. She knows that itโ€™s because she can still feel his skin pressed up to her lips. Because he looked at her as he died. Because when he breathed for the last time, it was so that he could say her name.
Itโ€™s because of a lot of things, but in the middle of the night when Pepper wakes up to an empty space where Tony used to sleep, she knows that he was the only man sheโ€™d ever wanted to kiss.
Theyโ€™d gotten married by the lake. The wedding was big, but not as big as it couldโ€™ve been - theyโ€™d been ready for the vows as soon as Tony could stand without passing out. And there was a line of empty chairs at the front, kept empty with a harsh whisper and a knowing look because everyone knew what it meant.
Tony had fiddled with his tie all morning.
โ€˜You know I still think-โ€˜ heโ€™d started and sheโ€™d interrupted, amused, in love, annoyed at how heโ€™d somehow messed up the Windsor knot.
โ€˜I am not getting married to you in a metal suit.โ€™
And then heโ€™d gotten pouty and snarky and she knew he was nervous because she was as well. By the time they got to the altar, the tie was more like a decorative twist of cloth. But at that point she didnโ€™t care about the tie anymore because heโ€™d stared at her like she was the most precious thing heโ€™d ever seen in his life and heโ€™d laughed in this incredulous breath of love, speechless for the first time in his life, and heโ€™d kissed her.
Later they would tease each other over crying. Pepper would always insist Tony was the first one to break, and she knows sheโ€™ll maintain that opinion until the day she dies.
At the after party, heโ€™d spilled wine all over her wedding dress and theyโ€™d made out in a dark corner like they were teenagers. Thereโ€™d been confetti in his hair, little scraps of rainbow paper that fluttered down around them when she dragged him closer, groaned into his mouth. He was still so fragile - Pepper remembers smoothing her hands over the shoulders of his dress shirt and catching on the bumps. But even then he was her anchor, he was a smug grin to cover up the bags under her eyes, a sharp quip made vulnerable - โ€˜not having second thoughts are you?โ€™ - and then it was her kissing him again, knowing that there was more to do, more to say but in that moment all they needed was each other.
One day, that need wonโ€™t haunt every second of her life. One day, sheโ€™ll stop lying to herself and really rebuild. But tonight, Pepper remembers the feeling of Tonyโ€™s arms around her, she remembers the feeling of his lips pressed to her shoulder in a โ€˜goodnightโ€™. Tonight, she thinks about the only husband sheโ€™ll ever have, and she grieves.

please do not force an lgbt label onto anne frank. she died before she had the chance to explore her sexuality and if you need to think of her as lgbt to have empathy for her you need to reconsider how you think of holocaust victims. please do not vilify her father, a man who lost his entire family in the holocaust, for censoring the parts in anneโ€™s diary where she expresses attraction for women. it was 1947. jewish girls were already seen as hypersexual. he was protecting her legacy as best he could, and you have no right to call him a villain for wanting what was period-typical best for his late daughter.
