And yeah I gotta agree with you there overall season 3 was a good season but it was very fast paced and tried to pack a lot in

Also maybe it was just me but certain characters (mainly Lisa tbh) felt a lot more unlikeable in this season ? Like i much preferred her in season 1 and 2

yeah, totally. i think a lot of the characterization in this season was just watered down. a lot of what lisa did felt kind of random and left-field, because we got to see a lot less of her POV - there was just no empathy. but also kira. her character was built up so much over the course of s2, just for everything to be dropped until her only role was to hate on moritz :(

yes! i do still watch and love htsdof - sadly life has been a bit too busy for me the last few months, so no new content :(

anyway, i binged s3 the day it came out, so my memory of it isn't the best. i'll probably have to rewatch it another time to get all my thoughts together.

but i can give you a quick summary!

the good:

- just like the seasons before, s3 had a lot of iconic and funny moments - mostly starring the OG mydrugs team imo, e.g. the mushroom scene and headspace-dan (also nice nod to therapy-dan from s1, we love to see a twunk cope)

- they did a really good job at building up the suspense. out of all seasons it felt the most like a thriller

- herr zimmermann <33333 the devastation?? the desperation ???? the heartbreak???? what a performance *chef's kiss*

- love that they let dan and lenny be actual friends (just wish that we had more of an actual dynamic) - dan making an onlyfans account to finance lenny's treatment is both heartwarming and hilarious at the same time

- florentin will?? in my htsdof??? it's more likely than you think!

the bad:

- honestly i think s3 is the worst season out of all (it's still good tho). it just kind of felt all over the place, trying to pull all the strings, so they can have the ending they wanted

- as a consequence, a lot of things were dropped and/or neglected: dan's relationship with his father, lisa's parents divorcing, gerda and fritzi being girlfriends??? this show takes its course over the time span of a few months, these things don't just resolve themselves

- consequence number 2: a lot of weird storylines and plot-twists. that police-chief-trying-to-prove-himself-to-his-asshole-boss-storyline was thrown in way too quickly in the beginning and confused the hell out of me

- consequence number 3: where is this character development going??? absolutely nowhere.

- what i liked so much about s2 (which is also my favourite season) is the nuance and thought put into it. i loved that there was a coherent red string and theme (moritz getting caught in his own web of lies) that is reflected by his inner monologue, actions and dialogue. it always felt like one scene was picking up another one and this thoughtfulness is just missing for me this season.

- this continues into the cinematography, which is iconic, but also is trying way too hard this season imo. i think they caught on to people liking them referencing popular movies and tv shows and then just overdid it with the cameos. at the same time the unique and expressive framing we got from the first two seasons is gone

i am not saying s3 is bad. it had a lot of great moments and i enjoyed the thrill of it, but personally it is my least favorite season for the reasons given above.

Ok so, you've stated that you ship Dan and Mortiz but can i ask why? Not hate But in the series Mortiz is constantly stating how much he hates Dan So i was just curious why they seem to be so popular?

short answer: man, it’s just one big fanfiction trope. it’s that good ol’ enemies to friends to lovers AU. it just fits, y’know?

moritz is convinced he hates dan and it’s just really funny to me. because it’s obvious he doesn’t actually hate dan. he hates the idea of him. he hates what dan represents. for moritz, dan is the stereotypical dumb jock, who, for some reason, is immensely popular with everybody, but not because he actually deserves it. of course, nobody could actually like dan for who he is - they only like him because of the service he provides: drugs.

it’s pretty clear that moritz actually has no idea who dan actually is. that wouldn’t be such a problem if moritz weren’t moritz. but because moritz is moritz, well, he doesn’t really want to find out who dan actually is.

moritz is content with hating the image he projects onto dan, because, for him, dan isn’t an actual person, an individual. furthermore, for moritz dan is nothing other than an object. more specifically, the object that’s on the receiving end of his hate.

and moritz needs this object, since it’s the only way he can justify his social status. moritz clearly sees himself as the underdog: an underappreciated genius, that is repressed by a society that prefers talentless, mindless puppets, such as dan. 

in the eyes of moritz, dan deserves nothing, because moritz also has nothing. why does dan get everything, when moritz is objectively just better than him? in this reasoning, where moritz sees himself as the victim of an unjustified and senseless phenomenon, he finds fulfillment. he was wronged.

by admitting that dan actually is a nice person with actual talents, that is deserving of love and attention, the same way moritz is, moritz would be giving up his previous world view. 

but not only that: by having to admit that dan is not the root of his suffering and therefore not deserving of his hate, moritz would have to find the root of the problem in himself and actually try to improve.

of course, i don’t want to say that bullying and exclusion are always the victims fault. but in this case it is clear that at least some part of the problem lies with moritz himself, who sees himself as a superior being and looks down upon those who have no problem fitting in with mainstream society (his stereotypical teen classmates e.g.), and therefore excluding himself.

anyway, conclusion: moritz is a “nice guy” and falling in love with dan would force him to confront his own world view and become a better person.

(also, repressed gay pining being perceived as jealousy)

Going along with your headcanon that Dan's scared of the dark; What if Lenny and Mortiz (or someone) tries to play a prank on him where he gets put in some sort of dark place (cause neither people knew about his fear) and he just freaks out

that would be absolutely tragic and a great source of some delicious angst, that’ve been craving (somebody write it, quick)

but i could totally imagine moritz getting annoyed at dan for doing something again and just ordering him to get something out of one of those dingy storage rooms/closets and then locking him in there in one of his many moments of casual, thoughtless cruelty

I've just had a thought So with season 3 being worked on I've seen a bunch of people saying Dans gonna die because he wasn't in the interviews And while there are multiple different reasons this could be (i hope he doesn't die, he's my favorite :( ) it seems the dying theory is most popular But like if he does end up dying it better not be so Mortiz can go out with Lisa - not that i expect the show to do that but, you never know i guess :')

stefan titze would never let my boy die, how dare anyone suggest that.

but dying just so moritz could satisfy his horny schoolboy crush on lisa and ruin their relationship for probably the 1000th time at this point, would be on a whole other level of... something.

One thing i did notice when i was watching htsdof was that in the majority of scenes Dan is seen touching someone (like a hand on Lenny's shoulder) and honesty i think it's adorable

lenny’s and dan’s friendship honestly was one of my favorite aspects of this season! i love how they always tried to support one another/defend the other, when moritz got angry at one of them. it really felt like there was a friendship between them and that they actually like each other. i mean, otherwise dan never would have agreed to go on that date with kira, right?

About queercoded scenes, how much did the scene where Dan asks Moritz to help him study feel like they decide to have a date? Moritz plays it too cheekily, pretending not to understand what Dan wants to ask, watching him from behind and then the voice note! An unpopular opinion: I like Kira: she does questionable choices and I am scared for her bc we don't see her in the future parts but she's cool and I loved the date scene!

this whole scene made me squeal like a 13 y/o fangirl again, i am telling you! they really got me, esp when moritz made it seem like he’s just abandoning dan. idk if i remember it correctly, but wasn’t there a shot of dan watching him leave or sth? that was so sad!

i have so much sympathy for dan, it’s crazy. this boy just wants some real friends and the thing he gets is moritz. at least lenny actually likes him...

similar to this scene is the one where moritz asks buba’s family to improve dan’s mark in his exam. it was hilarious and also showed that moritz felt guilty and regretful

as for kira: i like her too! i especially love her outfits! honestly, i found her more enjoyable than fritzi and gerda this season. them drifting off into drugs is important and realistic, i guess, but it really annoyed me how they just tried to get lisa to do drugs with them and wouldn’t really try to listen

i have a huge soft spot for him and i feel like my choice of job kind of expresses that. there are many reasons for my choice, but the main one is his relationship with his father and that whole therapy thing he had going on in s1. esp in s2 we saw that he is actually very caring and always tries to include people and acknowledge their efforts; i really like his relationship with lenny. that’s the reason why i think he’d do great as a social worker: he wants people to grow up feeling loved and supported.

people online discover how he is actually hilarious and he kinda blows up pretty fast. he starts his own twitch and yt channel, where you can regularly witness him mobbing moritz live and on air. sometimes you see dan in the background, but bc dan is an actual grandpa he has no idea what’s going on. lenny uses it to his advantage and makes a series out of dan discovering the internet and being adorably clueless, people love it.

she wants to discover the world and educate people about it. she wants to disprove the prejudices of the public and create an open space for discussion. her reportages have a very subjective and personal feel to them, reminiscent of the way she talks about drugs and growing up in s1 and s2

moritz, this is a hard one for me:

of course, CEO is the most obvious choice. sure, he get’s off on the admiration and attention, but at the same time it’s hard for me to imagine him being an actual good CEO. he likes being in power and feeling better than everyone else, he doesn’t seem like the charming leader type everyone wants to follow blindly so ...
