submissions for the site are now open. but there are a few things i must go over beforehand!

submission rules and format

to submit a quest, you'll need a transcript. what is a transcript?

the format should be as follows,

please make sure you fill out everything accurately, without spelling mistakes. i'm aware that in some quests, particularly in hzd, there are inaccuracies in the subtitles vs in the voice - in these instances, record both versions, but format like this.

thank you, and if there are questions, please don't hesitate to ask me. i'm new to this concept, and there's probably a lot of bases i haven't covered.

an update, 03/04/22

my apologies for the radio silence!

i've been thinking of ways to manage intake of information. my first consideration was via email, but that raises some security concerns regarding the transmission of files... so my second was a google form.

unfortunately there are some restrictions there, but, to my knowledge, it shouldn't affect anything i'd need it for! when it's set up, i'll be posting about it, so don't worry.

as for how i will be organising this information - a combination of plain text keeping and a software named obsidian for mapping the site's navigation. obsidian is so very useful for this purpose because of its nesting links to each file, and it can display these as a graphical web!

so far, only the website's base theme has been created. however, this makes it infinitely easier for me to add each page as we go. my goal for the first iteration is to at least create 3 pages of basic information - one for each of the main tribes of hzd, the nora, carja and oseram. this will encompass their current territory, their states, notable rulers, governing system, and other tidbits. branching off from these will be dedicated sections for each part of their society and culture - for example, food, belief systems, naming conventions, etc.

but those branches will be saved until after!

Hey, I got your tag about a HZD database so I just wanna let you know Horizon Wiki does a very thorough job of putting everything in the game into a wiki (data points, weapons, machines, characters, even plants, etc...) so I'm not sure what you'd like to do with this database, but I'd recommend checking the wikis out first to see what hasn't been done already

i've checked out the wiki myself yes, and i started this mainly because i felt unsatisfied with how much of the lore is documented.

what i aim to do with hidden ember is to compile every single piece of lore i can, explore the existing cultures in horizon, and attempt to link the past and future of the timeline together. i realise this sounds very nebulous and quite honestly i'm not sure how to describe it in a better way. i want to give an amateur anthropologist's view on the world, so to speak!

because the world of horizon means so much to me and fascinates me as a person invested in the worldbuilding and speculative bio/evo communities, i want to highlight the world first and foremost. the wiki is a great help to me however! i'll be using it extensively to fill in gaps (where they've sourced things of course).

and ultimately, it really is a labour of love fansite. it's like a digital tribute, besides everything else i wish to achieve with it. <3

Hi, I saw your post, will there be a discord server or such? I plan on completing hfw and hzd 100% so I could get a lot of the datapoints with a bit of luck ^^

at the moment, i'm still deciding upon the structure i wish the website to take and how to request submissions - but there may be a discord server, yes!!

hidden ember is a dedicated horizon database of all lore found within the games and comics. in the future, it may expand to feature other things, though the focus is mainly on providing creatives with a place to go for all their needs, and for theorists to browse to their hearts' content!

however, i cannot do this alone, and i've never tackled a project like this before! so, i'd like to gauge interest. what kinds of things would you like to see? have any specific questions about the upcoming project? just want to follow and track my progress? go for it.

in the coming weeks, i'll set up ways for everyone to contribute to the lore gathering process! thank you all!
