Bustling Marketplace

A theme for a busy marketplace where travelers can find -almost- anything they want. Written a while ago during a 21 days of VGM composition challenge. :)

I've been having some deep conversations lately about a lot of things; people, community, relationships, the state of the world, the small corner of it where my partner and I exist, what I want and where I want to be- now, a year from now, some time vaguely in the future... I care about everything too much and overthink things. People are complex. Emotion often stands in the way of logic. Life is complicated. I guess it's all part of the human experience and our shared existence.

Autumn Rain

New music! With this, my living album for 2024 is complete! I released one song per month for the year (plus an extra because of a composing contest I entered).

At the beginning of the year, I decided to make a living album that would contain all of the music I wrote during 2024- my goal was to write and release one song a month and so far, I've done that.

Some of the time I was making good progress, some of the time I was grappling with burnout, but overall, it's worked out and I'm happy with the work I've done.

I think it will be worthwhile to keep about the same schedule for writing and releasing new songs next year. Working on albums for forever in solitude and dropping them all at once is ok for some things, but personally, I don't like holding onto music that long- I want to get it out into the world.

Also, there's a lot less pressure just writing one song at a time. I like the process of concepting an album, but it's a lot!

So anyway, one more song coming out next month and then this project/album will be finished. :)

Crystallis Ultima (Score in C)

I made it into the Newgrounds Underdogs’ Audio Contest (NGUAC) Finals Round… and then won the contest with this piece! I'm so grateful and I hope you enjoy this one.

Also, this is my first time trying a 4K video, so hopefully the score is a bit clearer visually.

Voyage by Starlight

Originally, this started as a simple, minimalist piano piece, but I started hearing more orchestral things with it and thought it would sound good fleshed out, so I expanded it for orchestra- the idea being to take a simple melody and use it multiple ways to create something more interesting. Sort of a minimalist approach to make a not-so-minimalist piece of music. :)

⭐ I was surprised to find out this morning that I won the Newgrounds Underdogs' Audio Contest with my piece 'Crystallis Ultima'! ⭐

For the final round, I had two weeks to write a song, but was out of town for part of it so only had about one week, but it came together in the end.

I'll post a sheet music video next week (still have some edits to do).
