em i just got this idea of dream recruiting blue after honey's death\kidnapping or smth dream never promised anything but also never denied that he can bring papyrus back so blue stayed with all this hope that dream can help him(also him getting addicted on dream's positive aura didn't really helped in this situation) and dream keeping blue around because he never lets himself feel negative emotions.. and like being this everlasting food(source of positivity) for dream..
