One of my favorite things about Pride and Prejudice is the Bennet family’s complete cluelessness about Darcy and Elizabeth. Like, if this were a tv show about the Bennets, Darcy and Elizabeth are like, the D storyline. The whole family is trying to get Jane and Bingley together, the regiment is stationed in Meryton, Mr. Collins is taking the house, Lydia and Wickham are obviously the climax, these people have a lot going on. And then, once the regiment has left and Jane and Lydia and Mr. Collins are married and everything seems resolved: plot twist! They’ve got random nobility at the door in the middle of the night telling the know-it-all sister who has been home on and off through the year not to marry the rando rich guy they all hate simply because they’re family and loyal to each other damnit and he called the know-it-all sister ugly once. 

And then, of course, they all find out Lizzy and Darcy are actually very in love and literally all of the good things that have happened to them this year are a direct consequence of Darcy loving Lizzy lolol.

At the end of volume 6, I couldn’t imagine Kiyoka quitting the military because his entire character seems to revolve around that. But when I finally started reading volume 7, I realized,”yeah, that makes sense.”

But when he was pulled away for an emergency mission on the day of their wedding, Kiyoka was really going through an intense internal struggle:

He was genuinely being torn apart by his sense of duty and his love for Miyo.

It just makes me wonder if this is foreshadowing a future conflict within Miyo’s and Kiyoka’s marriage: Kiyoka’s sense of obligation to be a military commander as a man since he’s the best gift-uswe of his generation and his love for Miyo as her husband being at war with each other all while Miyo too timid to cling on her husband to prevent Kiyoka the man to win out (reminiscing to when Fuyu asked Miyo if she loved Kiyoka the man or Kiyoka the husband and she answered both). So far with the Usui arc, the story has been Miyo-centric so I wonder if we’re heading into Kiyoka-centric arc soon, especially since the next volume explores Kiyoka’s time in the military and the Earth Spider. My Happy Marriage is also about Kiyoka’s happy marriage as well so it would be exciting to see his character development as well.

But Akumi Agitogi is also releasing other light novels as well so idk if that means she’s ending My Happy Marriage soon or she’s taking on the challenge of multi-tasking and writing two stories at the same time.

I guess we’ll just see.

Polin's little Honeymoon Period during their engagement makes me so emotional every time because, yes, the Lady Whistledown thing is hanging over them so Penelope can't fully bask in it, but COLIN? Colin is all in, floating on cloud 9, deliriously happy.

It's so obvious that this is everything Colin has ever wanted coming true. He so clearly has wanted love, and marriage, and a home of his own. Traveling, while a personal goal of his, something he had a passion for, was never his Be All End All purpose and he was aware of that from season one. I mean, he was willing to put his travel plans on hold indefinitely to marry Marina.

Colin Bridgerton has always wanted love, and a family of his own. Other male leads have fought against love and marriage (not a bad thing, just a thing) but Colin embraces them eagerly. His mask falls entirely after the carriage scene and he is so genuinely earnest with Penelope when expressing his feelings. Kissing her hand, doing things just to make her laugh, even the way he speaks to her is so gentle and tender. And he's so /happy/. Even when he's worried that Penelope doesn't return his feelings, even when he knows there is something off, he literally cannot help but be over the moon every time he's around her, is so in love with her that anyone with eyes could see it.
