writing a script for my university drama society atm and im really enjoying how stupid it is. like there are serious moments and relationships and commentary on capitalism (i couldn’t escape it) but mostly it’s just very feel good and absurd humour.

i just came across a novo nordisk post on instagram, and novo nordisk isn’t a great company and i could make 100 criticisms of their unethical business practices, but currently what they’re being criticised for is supporting lgbt+ people. and like, there are a couple criticisms of them just sticking rainbow flags up when they could be doing so much to support people across the world who are dying and need access to the medications they make, but most of them are just blatant condemnations of their support of the lgbt+ community. idk it just feels like a regression is happening in real time.

Last night, my brother texted me a Snapchat video of a small brown tabby meowing and looking rough, curled up against the side of a brick building outside, with the caption "almost ran over this guy"

He very nearly hit this little girl, because she was outside and ran right into the street. He spent 45 minutes coaxing her to him, and sustained quite a large scrape down his entire lower leg in the final dive to grab her. But he did, and after checking a few local groups for anyone posting about losing a kitten, he took her home to our dad's house.

Someone owned her previously, as her claws had been clipped past the quick. My dad asked me to look at them because one "looked injured" but it wasn't a wild injury. Whoever had her previously had clipped her dewclaw nearly to the skin, and the rest had visible quick scabbing over. She's bony, especially at the hip, and while she was a bit dirty, she didn't appear to have fleas yet, and her eyes look clear/clean. My guess is she's been out for a couple of days.

But, she's in, now. We got her a nice soft hide, some kitten weaning formula + soft food + kitten kibble, dewormer, ear cleaning wash, and she got a flea bath just in case (and because she was stinky). She used the litter box for me, and spent most of today sleeping and playing and purring. My brother got her a harness to match his dog, so he can start to leash train her to go for walks with them.

She gets along great with the dog, and she'll be going to the vet this week to get tested for feline leukemia etc before she's allowed to meet the other cat, Craig. If she gets along with Craig, too, then she can stay. Otherwise, he will try to find her a good indoor home in southeast Michigan (you can PM me if you're interested in being a backup home! Today's date is 2 June 2024).

I'm happy she's safe and fed and will have a family to protect her, now.
