Good News from Hala and Abdul Aziz
Remember Hala, my mutual whose son, Abdul Aziz, has hirschsprung's disease? We were raising money to pay for lifesaving surgery, and initially, we believed that it would cost 20,000 euro.
Last week, Hala @hala-15 found another doctor, who was willing to perform the surgery for only 5,000 dollars (4,760 euros)!! Hala had raised enough to make a down payment, and Abdul Aziz had his surgery to close his colostomy and remove the affected portion of his colon. Abdul Aziz stayed in the hospital for five days, and he is currently at home with Hala, recovering.
Tumblr media
While Hala was able to cover the surgery, she had to borrow about $2,500 from friends in Egypt, which she still has to pay back. While this is not an impossible sum of money, it is still a very large amount for a recent refugee in the global south. for this reason, she is still accepting donations via paypal, but this time, there is no urgent time limit.
Both of us want to say a big thank you to everyone who donated. You were able to help save the life of a beloved young child, and let Abdul Aziz grow up. All of you did an amazing thing, and we should all take this moment to celebrate in solidarity with Hala.

as much as big family holidays can exhaust us, it is such a privilege to be able to gather with friends or relatives, and eat a special meal. around the world, big feasts with loved ones are a special time to celebrate and to share with others. for my friend @hala-15, however, this has been a very difficult time. Her son Abdul Aziz has hirschsprung's disease, an illness in which the nerves in the large intestine do not form properly, leading to potentially deadly blockages and the inability to pass waste.
Abdul Aziz is only 8 months old, but he has already had 20 surgeries, at the same time as his family has been displaced from Gaza to Egypt. Currently, Abdul Aziz has a colostomy, but Hala is saving up money to get the necessary surgeries for Abdul Aziz to pass waste without the risk of infection that a colostomy carries. The urgency of this treatment was hammered in this week when Abdul Aziz started to BLEED FROM HIS COLOSTOMY SITE. even those of us who do not have ostomies can imagine how terrifying and painful that is, especially for a very young child.
Hala told me yesterday that she is very afraid that she will be able to get Abdul Aziz his surgeries in time. as a displaced person in Egypt, she has to pay 20,000 euro out of pocket for the surgeries. Her fundraiser has been verified by @90-ghost and shared by @fairuzfan. Let's all show Hala and Abdul Aziz our support!
As Hala's gofundme was deleted as part of a mass deletion of palestinian fundraisers, she is raising money on PayPal. Please donate if you can, and if you cannot, please spread, and ask yourself why so many wealthy americans were able to celebrate and give thanks this week, while families like Hala's must beg for scraps online.

URGENT: Medical Emergency, Baby of refugee family needs surgery for obstruction
Tumblr media
This campaign was shared by the vetter @/90-ghost here.
This baby's family has escaped Gaza, but needs surgery.
The gofundme was shut down in a mass purge of Palestinian gofundmes, but you can donate to the to the newly made paypal here
Abdul Aziz, who was born in Gaza, has a condition called Hirschsprung's disease, which affects the nerves related to muscles controlling the passing of waste. He had to get a colostomy at 20 days old. The family is now in Egypt, and have been trying to raise money for surgery that would give a more permanent solution,... but five days ago post-surgery complications developed with bleeding at the site of surgery.
The surgery for a more permanent improvement will cost her 20,000 euro, and will make it so that Abdul Aziz no longer needs to gets colostomy. So far, she has raised almost 2,000 dollars. However, part of that just had to go to the emergency surgery five days ago from the bleeding. And the gofundme being shut down has also impaired fundraising.
Please donate to the paypal! I know it may not be as much a serotonin rush without a progress bar, but it is still important.

On the vernal equinox, March 21, 2024, my beloved baby was born and I named him Abdul Aziz. He was a beloved, innocent baby like any baby, but suddenly, a week after Abdul Aziz was born, he developed severe swelling in his abdomen. I visited several doctors specializing in pediatrics and neonatology to no avail
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I performed several examinations and CT scans on the child to find out the cause, to no avail. Abdul Aziz's abdomen swelled significantly, which necessitated his immediate transfer to the hospital. There, in the presence of a pediatric surgeon, after a precise diagnosis, it was discovered that there was an intestinal obstruction preventing the baby from defecating.
Immediately, temporary conservative treatments were performed on the baby to remove the swelling, to no avail, until the doctor decided to perform a delicate surgical operation in which Abdul Aziz underwent general anesthesia when he was only 20 days old. The surgical operation aimed to create a lateral protrusion in the child's abdomen. Four samples were taken from the child's colon twice, under general anesthesia, to be examined in the laboratory. It was confirmed that part of Abdul Aziz's rectum had Hirschsprung's disease, and it was decided to perform a complex surgical operation a month from now to remove the affected part. I am speaking to you with great sadness and pain about my son's condition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At this age, he has undergone dozens of tests, blood samples, CT scans, and a large group of medications..
Your standing by me and supporting me is enough to improve the child's condition and perform the operation successfully.
What will we do with the money..
I will pay the money to cover the costs of the surgery as well as the costs of the hospital and the doctor and to buy the child's medications..

URGENT: Medical Emergency
My friend Hala's (@hala-15) son Abdul Aziz recently had a medical emergency and is in desperate need. offunds
Abdul Aziz, who was born in Gaza, has a condition called Hirschsprung's disease, in which the nerves in the abdomen do not form properly. people with Hirschsprung's disease are unable to pass waste without surgical treatment. In Abdul Aziz's case, he had a colostomy placed when he was only 20 days old.
Yesterday, Abdul Aziz's colostomy site started to bleed. Hala took him to the doctor and they were able to stop the bleeding, and this means that Hala and Abdul Aziz are in need of funds for his medical care.
Hala has been raising funds for months to get surgery for Abdul Aziz in Egypt, where they are currently living. The surgery will cost her 20,000 euro, and will make it so that Abdul Aziz no longer needs a colostomy. So far, she has raised almost 2,000 dollars. However, part of that just had to go to yesterday's emergency.
Hala's gofundme was deleted in a mass deletion of palestinian gofundmes, so she is currently raising money on paypal. Her camapign has been verified by @90-ghost and shared by @fairuzfan

If you have any kind of GI disorder, you are not alone. You share a lot of your struggle with my friend Hala's (@hala-15 )son, Abdul Aziz. Abdul Aziz is only seven months old, but he has already had several surgeries, and has a surgical opening in his abdomen.
Abdul Aziz has hirschsprung's disease, a congenital condition in which the nerves in the colon don't form properly, leading to an inability to pass waste. In rich countries, hirschsprung's disease is very manageable, with surgeries to either place a colostomy and remove parts of the colon. But in Egypt, where Abdul Aziz is living with his displaced palestinian family, surgeries cost 20,000 euro out of pocket.
Because of Abdul Aziz's condition, the seven month old child's "illness even prevents him from crawling or playing like children his age." why should Abdul Aziz continue to suffer when surgeries to allow him to pass waste would be so easy for a child in a rich country to access? illness and global poverty go hand in hand, part of colonialism is to inflict preventable debility on the colonized population, and nowhere is that more apparent than among the Palestinian people.
so if you can, donate whatever you can to Hala and Abdul Aziz. Their fundriaser has been shared by @90-ghost and @fairuzfan

My friend Hala @hala-15 has a seven month old son named Abdul Aziz who needs a gift from all of us! Hala and Abdul Aziz are originally from Gaza, but recently escaped to Egypt. But their struggle is not over: Abdul Aziz has a condition called hirschsprung's disease, in which the nerves in the colon do not form properly, leading to life-threatening intestinal blockages!
Abdul Aziz has already had multiple surgeries despite his young age, but in order to live a healthy life, he needs two more. The first will remove the affected part of his colon, and allow him to pass waste. The second will be to close his colostomy. in Egypt, these surgeries cost 20,000 dollars. Tragically, Hala's gofundme was taken down and all the money was returned to donors, due to gofundme mass deleting Palestinian fundraisers, so much of the money she raised has been lost.

Today I would like to talk about the sons of two of my friends. one is named Matt, and he is the son of a former college classmate of mine. the other is named Abdul Aziz, and his mother is my friend Hala @hala-15. Matt lives in the united states, and Abdul Aziz is from Gaza, but has recently been displaced to Egypt.
Both boys have a condition called hirschsprung's disease. hirschsprung's disease is something that children are born with and is usually diagnosed when they are still an infant. in hirschsprung's disease, the nerves in the colon do not form properly, leading to a portion of the colon being paralyzed. this means that children with hirschsprung's disease cannot pass waste without medical treatment, usually in the form of surgeries.
in countries like the united states, it is normal for these surgeries to be covered by insurance. matt had all his surgeries as a baby, and he is now a happy, active nine year old boy, who sings in his school choir, and loves building with legos. he has an illness, but he is still able to live a full life. However, in Egypt, Gazan parents have to pay for these surgeries out of pocket, and they are extremely expensive. Hala is trying to raise money to pay the 20,000 euros she needs to get Abdul Aziz his surgeries, so that he can grow up strong and healthy.
when I asked Hala what Abdul Aziz likes to do, so I could share his story in this post, she told me something heartbreaking. Seven-month-old Abdul Aziz does not have anything that he likes to do, because, as Hala said, his "illness even prevents him from crawling or playing like children his age."
so tell me: which child deserves medical care? if both of them deserve to live happy healthy lives, why is Abdul Aziz too sick to crawl or play like a baby should? ask these questions of your governments, of the world bank, of the IMF, and of Israel, who started this genocidal war. and help Hala raise funds for Abdul Aziz to get his surgeries, so that he too can live a full and happy life.

no matter whether you think voting is very important for protecting the right to protest, or a tacit approval of the US government actions and inactions, or anything in between, we can all agree that what is most important right now is to directly help the people of Gaza.
no matter the result of the election today, my friend Hala @hala-15 will be displaced in Egypt with her young son Abdul Aziz. Abdul Aziz was born with a condition called hirschsprung's disease, in which the nerves in the colon do not form properly. Children with hirschsprung's disease are not able to pass waste, and can die from terrible blockages in their intestines.
Abdul Aziz needs surgery to remove the affected part of his colon so that he can poop. voting or not voting will not help him. what will help him is if we can raise money for Hala to pay for his surgeries. Hala had raised almost 500 euro on gofundme, when gofundme did a massive purge of Palestinian fundraiser, and Hala's account was deleted with no warning, and all the money was returned to donors.
If you have already donated, or if you are seeing this for the first time, please send your donations to Hala's paypal account. Hala's blog @hala-15 has pictures in arabic and in english of Abdul Aziz, and of his medical records. her story has been independently verified by @90-ghost. No matter how you feel about voting, Hala still needs help, and every donation, even just one euro, will help her pay for Abdul Aziz's surgeries.

I am very sad that the account was deleted in this unfair way, even though I provided them with all the evidence. I am sad that there is such racism and injustice against us Palestinians by a company like...
I am also sad that this arbitrary action will delay my child's surgery.
Thank you all for standing by us in this painful ordeal we are facing
I regret to inform you that my account on the site GFM has been deleted arbitrarily and without giving any reasons. It seems that racism against the Palestinian people has prompted the site to take these arbitrary measures against hundreds of accounts that are currently being closed without prior notice. I will now share a link via PayPal, and I hope that previous and potential donors will donate again via PayPal. Thank you.

Thank you for your solidarity.. and I hope to find sympathy and generosity from friends all over the world.. If Abdul Aziz were speaking, he would thank you from his heart and I would thank you on his behalf.
today, I want everyone who has any kind of GI troubles to take a moment to think of Hala's adorable young son Abdul-Aziz. shortly after he was born, Abdul-Aziz was diagnosed with hirschsprung's disease. hirschsprung's disease is a congenital disorder in which the nerves in the large intestine do not form properly. This means that the colon cannot move, and Abdul-Aziz cannot pass his waste. This caused an intestinal blockage and severe swelling in his abdomen.
hearing Hala's story, I recognized the son of a family friend, who also has hirschsprung's disease. because he was able to get treatment early, he is a happy third grade boy who loves playing with toy airplanes and legos, and sings in his school choir. i wish the same happiness for Abdul-Aziz.
Abdul-Aziz is not even a year old, but he has had multiple surgeries on his bowels. Hala is raising funds for her son to get two more surgeries, to remove the affected part of his colon so that he does not have any more blockages. Here are some pictures of this precious baby boy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i know that many of us do not have much extra cash, but please, donate what you can to Hala's gofundme for her son. You can find her blog @hala-15, where she has posted photos of Abdul-Aziz's medical records in both english and arabic. Her story has been further verified by @90-ghost
Her gofundme is linked here. IT IS LESS THAN 1% FUNDED. clearly this is not acceptable. please, if you support people with chronic illnesses or suffer from chronic GI illness yourself, spare whatever you can for Abdul Aziz
