Oh my gosh, I totally get what you mean. I mean! First there's Thanksgiving break, which with Thanksgiving being so late this year, it'll be only a short amount of time between that and Christmas/Winter break. Did you have a fun Halloween? Get many trick or treaters?
Now that Halloween's over, the countdown to Christmas break is on. I already know that the days are going to fly by. It doesn't even seem like it should be November yet. Where are the days even going though?

Hadley was sitting at one of the tables with a plate full of snacks, making sure that she was staying energized for the night. Her Molly doll sat in the chair to the left of her, she was contemplating taking off the clown nose to make eating easier when Matt had come over and she'd only just registered the jacket on one of the other chairs. "Oh sorry, was this table spoken for already? There wasn't anyone sitting here and I didn't notice someone's stuff there until now." She was fully prepared to jump up and move to another spot if need be. At his question though she nodded enthusiastically. "Oh for sure, I was already out there for that song from Wednesday where she does the dance. Just getting some nutrients to keep me going, right now. Definitely don't have that never-ending energy anymore like I did back in high school for those dances," she added with a chuckle.

It doesnāt matter Mattās well into his 30s (š«) heāll forever act a giant kid when it comes to Halloween. He gets it not everyoneās jam, as some prefer Mariah Careyās anthem over the Monster Mash. Buuuuuuuut Mattās gonna live it up tonight and decided to make good use of the dance floor. The lead pipe was in one hand as he bopped and grooved to a tune, uncaring he looked a fool while doing so. At the end of the song he went to the chair which he slung his purple suit jacket on. āIf they play some Tina Turner later, you can bet my ass will be back on that floor.ā He laughed. āThink Iāll catch you out there at some point?ā

Thank you! Though, thanks to a whole other conversation, I think I've found the perfect costume and so long as I can find an old childhood item, I should be able to pull it off! Going to let it be a surprise I think, though. Oh, I think Anxiety would actually be a great option for you, you likely wouldn't even have to wear a wig since your hair color is about right for the costume! Either way, I'm sure the group costume you all choose will be awesome! Are you all going to that party at the fire hall?
Excellent choices, I approve, and we all know my approval is... utterly useless, honestly. See, I like to think I'd vibe with Joy, but if we're going with aesthetic I'm probably more Disgust -- and folding in the second one, I'm preeeeeeeeeeeetty sure I'd end up channeling Anxiety with absolutely zero chill. I might end up doing a themed costume with my brothers though -- maybe -- but three Schuesters is (arguably) less chaotic than nine or ten, ha.

Oh that's awesome! I'll probably go to the principal early on to get things set up so we can have everything approved closer to the spring time! Thank you! And then, once all that is said and done, I can reach out to you to plan the timing - do you have set days and hours?
That's alright. I know that people get busy and can't do everything they want to do. Yes ma'am. I sure am open to hosting field trips. So far, so good with the animals. We haven't had any incidents. I know petting zoos have a few animals that can't do kids, but so far, nothing has happened.

Totally not weird at all! So, speaking of Max - have you figured out if he's a costume-wearing dog and will be getting dressed up for the upcoming holiday? I know they've dressed the animals up for their promotional pics at the shelter so he's probably been in one before he was adopted, but not all of them are always thrilled being in costume.
I don't think I realized how much I would like hearing that, a few months ago -- that I'm actually a good dog dad, I mean. It feels like an accomplishment, is that weird? Treats make everything better, as they well should.

I got it, thank you! Sorry I missed you when I was in. And it was a work day, so I was at the school and then my dads had me over for dinner and we had some cake. Got a few gifts for my new house. It was super lowkey, but fun!
post continued from here
Oh, thank you so much! I appreciate it!
Anytime, Hadley. I left a little birthday card for you at the register if you come by and I'm away.
Did you get up to any fun on your special day?

Hadley: oh for sure! haha Hadley: seriously, though! honestly it makes me super thankful that even if a streaming service doesn't have a show, you can usually find it on youtube. not always in the best quality but good enough for them to be able to watch it! Hadley: ...mayyyybe šš I just gotta see if I can find my molly doll that should be either in one of my storage totes or possibly still at my dads' house. Hadley: okay but like you were a super cute clawdeen so that's totally valid. even got me through that haunted walk through I was being a big chicken over lol
Dove: yesss, definitely spill the tea when it happens. i live for those little nuggets of unintentional gossip š Dove: omg, exactly! iām already mentally preparing a list of the shows iāll force my future kids to appreciate. ms. frizzle is mandatory. steve from blueās clues? iconic. big comfy couch? classic. i refuse to raise children who donāt know about those š Dove: also, can we just pause for a secāare you saying your halloween costume is gonna be loonette?? because if so, that is GENIUS. Dove: i should probably start thinking about my own costume. we're weeks away and i haven't given it a thought š at this rate, i'll end up repeating clawdeen lmao

I could ask my dad who they usually get to help with the sets for the theater! Otherwise, I'm totally useless. I mean, I'm not useless as a whole, just in this particular area. But yeah, I can check with them and get back to you for sure!
does anybody have any experience building sets? the tippy toes dance academy christmas recital is coming up and we need a few sets built! i can do the painting, but i just don't know what i'm doing when it comes to tools!

Hadley: so far none this year, but we're only a month in so I'll spill the tea if I get any lol Hadley: right?? I like to think that when I ever have my own kids I can put on the good shows and they'll love them. they can still totally watch whatever is popular at the time, too! but they've gotta know ms. frizzle and blue's clues with steve and big comfy couch and... omg I think I just figured out what my halloween costume is gonna be! Hadley: pshhh we're getting older but at least we can stay young at heart, right?
dove: omg yes, the family secrets they spill without even blinking š any good ones recently? dove: ugh, thatās so sad though! how do they not get into the classics?? i feel like we were raised on the good stuff. dove: i tried showing my kids bill nye last year, and you wouldāve thought i put on a history documentary by how bored they were. i felt personally attacked š© dove: weāre getting old, hadley.

It's not for everyone and that's okay, too! The fact that you're putting Max first already tells me that you're the best dog dad, so that's what's most important! And oh trust me, I totally know the judgy looks. I get them from all of my crew whenever I get home after putting in volunteer work at the shelter. But then I give them all some treats and it's all good again.
Okay, yeah, I'd be a terrible foster pet dad then, I thought that might be the case. I'm finally settling into a routine with Max, but if it gets much more complicated with meet and greets and having to keep both animals separated, my work schedule is probably going to become a lot more of an issue than it has been. Max already gives me the judgy look when I get home later than usual, ha.

Ooh, yeah that's basically me with Jennifer Garner, she's one of my all time faves. And on occasion Zooey Deschanel. And thank you! I had a blast, Vanellope was super fun to dress up as. Honestly, I think I'd go as Joy, because I feel I could pull her off the best. Though, with including the second one, I think Envy would be a lot of fun to dress up as, too! But, I'm still trying to think of something more solid, because I don't know that I could get a whole group of like, 9 people (10 if we include Nostalgia) for a group costume. It's just a matter of SO many options.
I mostly watch when the vibes speak to me, but Kathryn Hahn is pretty much always a vibe, so it was probably inevitable. Add in Aubrey Plaza and Patti LuPone and I'm pretty much sat. I bet you were a FANTASTIC Vanellope though, omg -- I can totally picture it, that's awesome. As a therapist I fully endorse the emotions from Inside Out, especially as a group costume -- which one would you claim?

I've only watched a few of the Marvel things, but it's not something I keep up with regularly, so I don't know much about the show. Otherwise, I'd totally hop on board with that idea, because currently I've got no clue who or what I'm going to dress up as this year. Last year I did Vanellope from Wreck It Ralph, which was so fun. I've considered one of the emotions from Inside Out, but then I feel like I'd need a group to make up the other emotions.
Okay, so I already have two separate Halloween costume ideas half formed in my head, but I spent the first chunk of my staycation binge watching anything and everything the almighty algorithm put in front of me (plus a few of the recs I got a few weeks back, I said I would), and like.
If there were MAYBE a handful of ladies around town who wanted to coordinate as Agatha Harknessā coven from Agatha All Alongā¦.
I could PROBABLY be convinced to be your Wanda Maximoff.
Just sayinā.
(Yes, The Ballad of the Witchesā Road IS stuck in my head, why do you ask? I blame Patti F*ckinā LuPone.)

You might have to clarify more info with Owen, because I've been doing it for so long I don't usually need much other than to just walk in and say I can take a foster. But you might need to fill out a fostering application to start. But then, basically, because you have Max you may still have to do meet and greets, especially if you're gonna foster another dog. And yes, there are foster fails, which isn't a bad thing! But they can talk to you more about it at the shelter as well and you might just have to keep the foster and Max separated for most of the time so they don't get bonded.
How does the whole fostering thing work, exactly? I've heard several other people talk about fostering pets and really enjoying it, I just don't quite trust myself not to get attached, if I'm being honest -- or for Max to get attached, at that.
#dash#dash: nick#nick duval#so I googled to make sure I was answering accurately but then kinda just went rogue from what I've seen on tiktok of people fostering#so might only be 5/10 accuracy idk lol

Hadley: right?? and the way they just blurt out stuff about their parents or family members that they really shouldn't be talking about. š Hadley: yesss i mean i've done tv hour on fridays where i put on cartoons or something kid-friendly just as something fun to start the weekend but most of the time when i put on something from our childhood a lot of the kids just aren't into it :/
dove: omg, the brutal honesty of kids that age is next level š like, they don't even know they're being savage, it's wild
dove: and ms. frizzle outfits?? you're a legend for that. their loss if they donāt appreciate the magic school bus vibes!
dove: honestly, the fact that they donāt have that in their lives anymore is a tragedy in itself.

Oh, fun! I know my two pups would definitely be lost if they didn't have each other. You'll have to keep me updated on your fur-family journey. And if you ever need a friend to hang out with at the shelter, just let me know, I'm always up for some volunteer time when available. I've been meaning to check on the fostering situation, too, since I haven't taken any in for a few months and I have even more room to offer now with my own place.
Max gets so excited around other dogs that I'll definitely have to consider another pet at some point I think, and probably test out how he might fair with a cat when we get there. I hadn't thought of cats needing socialization, that's a really good point -- I can certainly use the relaxation, but if they're getting something out of it too, well then, that's even better.
