To honor Elinor Bond Martin, M.D. (M'79, R'83), an ob/gyn who took a non-traditional path to medical school, Martin's family has created an endowed scholarship for the School of Medicine.
Martin's patients remember her as a passionate caregiver who treated them as fully-formed people, not just a set of numbers or medical statistics.
This scholarship will support the education of aspiring doctors in the Jesuit tradition for generations to come. Watch this video to learn more about Martin's remarkable life and the lives she touched.

"Have you any money to bet?" has been a well-known line of the Georgetown Fight Song for generations, but in 1928, one Hoya took his bent for betting to another level. SFS third-year F. Stanley Nishwitz proposed a bet that if Georgetown beat West Virginia in a football match, his childhood sweetheart Marjorie Morris would agree to marry him. Lucky for Nishwitz, Georgetown shut down WVU 12-0, which meant wedding bells for these two lovebirds. Read the full story on Ghosts of DC.
