very slow going on my own personal project but I decided to break it down into a bunch of little stories and start on some rough pages. I haven't done a lot of comic work but it's nice to get started

and just a tiny snippet of my wip as it still mostly writing atm.

Maisy Fairweather struggled to mask her disappointment. Her younger sister stood in the entryway to their childhood home, sporting a brand new bright blue dress with pearl collar pins, with her red hair twisted into a tight knot at the top of her head. She should have been happy for her, but her mind was dizzy with what this all meant for her now that her little sister would be leaving to join the academy. 

Maisy was the eldest of the four sisters and the only one that didn’t have a magical bone in her body. She’d watched with a pained sadness that had grown into bitter jealousy as each had packed their bags and left her to tend to their ailing mother. They’d all promised to return as soon as they were finished with school, but that day seemed to be drifting further and further away. Instead all that arrived of them was a growing pile of letters, trinkets and reminders that they were going on adventures while she was still here.

She swallowed her bitterness long enough to smile and carry the luggage bag behind her busy sister who was tossing a shawl over her shoulders and double checking her makeup in the mudroom mirror. “Did you get everything?” Maisy said, her voice cracking a little. She didn’t want to admit that it hurt. 

Her sister Angelica who was taller, and she honestly thought prettier took a deep breath after pursing her glossed lips together. “I hope so.” She said, looking nervous, but excited all the same. She spun, showing off the dress before seeing the look on her sister’s face. “...” Try as she might Maisy couldn’t hide her sadness, though Angelica read it differently. She swept across the room and caught Maizy in a hug. Her sister didn’t resist, though it was getting harder to hold back the flood forming behind her eyes. 

“Please don’t cry.” Angelica choked, giving her a good squeeze. “If you start crying, I’ll start crying and then it’ll just be a mess.” She said, already wiping away a tear. “It’s not goodbye forever.” She said, holding her sister at arm’s length. “Just a few years.” Maisy who also wiped away a tear from her cheek nodded. She’d heard this before and part of her was still bitter, but more than that she felt completely alone. She’d practically raised them, and now they were all leaving the nest. Her sister seemed to sense her dread and pulled her in for another long hug. Maisy couldn’t hold back the flood gates after that.

“Just be safe.” She sniffled. She felt ill all of a sudden, as if all of her misery was eating at her from the inside. “Be safe and have fun.” She pulled back and squeezed her sister’s hand tightly before handing over the suitcase. Her sister pet her hair and kissed her cheek. A final farewell before she left her there.

Still a lot of editing to do and I'm doing a bunch of rewriting to make things work better, but getting there slowly.

Maisy Fairweather is the eldest daughter of the arch Magus and the only one of her sister's without a magical bone in her body. After her youngest sister leaves she's left to discover her father's secrets, and look after her fey touched mother on her own.

I've done a lot of bouncing back and forth with her design, but felt like sharing ^^

some other recent work that I'm not sure if I posted here or not. I intend on this comic being kinda vibe heavy, and I really wanted to work on using colors to create moods.

also a little tester for a different shading style that I may or may not play with more.
