So, since the Lizard completely destroyed his body, and the moment he connected with the finger, he recreated his body mostly from anti-magic, using the finger as a portal,(his insides were green when they pierced his heart) , in which case he could transform his body however he wanted.

Well, presumably his new form, parts of dead unicorns to symbolize his victory over the old magic, a vessel with anti-magic directly connected to a dimension to expend his energy, and a pair of wings for equal combat with butterflies in the air. Whether his robes are practical for an ordinary mortal is probably not, but for him it is part of his body and he can completely change the elements in the image as he sees fit, but sometimes the robes lose their dense aggregate state, flowing down, leaving a dark path behind them.
