friends and family i have a new hyperfocus! dp x dc / dc x dp (danny phantom x dc, mostly batfam)

i am a bit mad i am late to the party !!!!!! (seems this started around summer of last year?)

its kind of interesting how years ago there was a lot of danny phantom and teen titans (cartoon) crossover, and then quite a bit of dp x yj (cartoon) when the first two seasons aired

but this current crossover surge is quite different, there's a lot of lore meshing? it's fun.

it depends on the source matierals but normally i'm more of a fan of the "character is suddenly plopped into another dimension" type of crossover, and that does work easily for any dp crossover really bc the ghost zone/infinite realms makes it pretty easy to make the excuse for that happening.

HOWEVER !

with the "these things simply exist in the same universe" type of crossovers i find it harder to get into? like somehow my brain can accept the most handwavey or convoluted dimension travel schemes and i just go with it, but if things are supposed to exist in the same universe the world building has to really be clear or else i have trouble with it (for example, mixing dc and marvel feels way too "crowded" for me unless its just plucking 1 character or something). it actually works well for dpxdc though! dp primarily takes place in one small town and is very contained, so working that into the dc universe is actually easy to make sense of and i've come to prefer this type of crossover for dpxdc, though dimension travel shenanigans are still fun.

currently, i'm working my way through the very specific but more populated than expected "danny and damian are twins" tag and its fun. it's an interesting sort of full circle given how common the "danny and dick grayson are twins/brothers (usually separated at birth)" trope was for teen titans/young justice crossovers.
