Wakefield Art Walk

My work was picked to go on display, as part of the Wakefield Art Walk. I haven’t had the chance to see any of the shop window exhibitions in person. It runs from now, until the 2nd of May. The Lighthouse

To pass the time, when not grafting on the Masters course, I’ve been making a series of portraits. When I finished my undergraduate course in 2008, drawing or painting portraits was my fallback. It’s stayed that way since. Whilst I’m stuck for ideas for a project, I’ll make a portrait.

Lemony Snicket.

I didn’t grow up with the Series of Unfortunate Events novels, by Lemony Snicket. They must be in every library, everywhere. And half the bookshelves of half the world.

I first grew to love these stories, through the television series. The visuals, the songs and the contrasting ensemble of larger than life characters are so straightforwardly appealing.

Graphite forever. There is something that keeps me returning to working only in graphite pencil. These drawings are never at the forefront of any work I do. They're usually not the first thing I would mention. This pencil portrait is from a group exhibition a short while ago, in Saltaire.
