Kurt's singing voice & Glee songs+singers reviews
208 posts
Hi, I'm known in the Chris Colfer and Glee fandom as Glorfindel. I'm a vocal coach and a fan of Chris Colfer, and this combination lead to me reviewing his Kurt songs on Glee, and also some other reviews of songs and singers of that show. I already posted a bunch of reviews on Glee Forum and the Chris Colfer Fan Forum. If you want to ask me something (about music and singing): click the little square button in the top left that pops up. You can also click that button to go directly to the reviews I already posted on this tumblr: just search for the tags "glorfindel-m reviews", "ksv", "masterpost", or simply the name of the song you want.

Hi, I love it when Chris articulates voice in the songs that he loves the most, when he did Single ladies, he does the dance routine as he sings it, was it a challenge to sing and dance at the same time? Or was it easy? I wonder what notes that he sang on a song like that. Anonymous fan
Do you mean during the live shows in 2011? Because Kurt didn’t sing ‘Single Ladies’ himself on the show (and even if he had Chris would have pre-recorded it and would have been lipsynching during filming).
As for the live shows: it’s true you can clearly see Chris saying the words to the song while he’s dancing. I’m not sure if he actually was singing along though, he was probably just moving his mouth with no sound coming out, as it was Beyoncé’s version and her vocals you can hear.
Singing and dancing simultaneously is very challenging, yes. You only have so much breath you can inhale and use at once, and now it’s getting divided between 2 activities that both require a lot of oxygen. It certainly takes a lot of stamina and training to not get out of breath when you’re dancing and singing at the same time (one of the many reasons I admire excellent live performers like Beyoncé and Pink so much). But as Chris was probably not really singing along with ‘Single Ladies’ at the live show, only mouthing the words, he didn’t really need any extra breath for that, so all that oxygen and energy could go to his (extremely sexy!) dancing.
If Chris had sung along to ‘Single Ladies’ (as I’m sure he sang that song at least a 100 times in his shower and/or car, lol) the high notes in it would have been no problem for him.   ;)
(Sorry for the late reply: I was on a little holiday [Disneyland Paris!] and only had very limited wifi access there at my hotel, using my smartphone.)

Been reading your review of songs for the ND members on Glee Forum. I noticed that you didn't update Naya's after the episode Asian F. Have you done/or will do any from the rest of season 3 and season 4 for her? Also you forgot to review Kevin's about Tongue Tied from the Nationals episode. He sung that with Naya, Lea, and Cory. Could you give one now? It took me a while to realize it was actually them since I never paid attention to the song when I first saw the episode.
I haven’t posted on Glee Forum for a long time anymore. The plan at first was to make reviews of all the singers of Glee, and I started doing that during season 3. But after I left Glee Forum (somewhere during season 4) due to fandom stuff, and Glee’s quality declined so rapidly at the same time, I kinda gave up on that.
I did Naya/Santana’s review somewhere at the beginning of that season, so it’s true I never updated it after episode 3 of that season. I updated Kevin/Artie’s review to include all songs of season 3 (I never included the songs for seasons 4,5, and 6), but I indeed forgot ‘Tongue Tied’ (probably because it wasn’t visibly sung in the episode, but only background). ‘Tongue Tied’ is a nice song, and it has 3 of my favorite singers on it, but there’s nothing remarkable more to say about it that I can think of from the top of my head now, sorry.
To be honest, because of several reasons I don’t intend to update or expand those individual singers’ reviews any time soon. First of all it’s a lot of work and as I’ve already so much on my plate reviewing all the Kurt songs (which are my 1st priority) it will be a long time before I get to any of the others (but I will always try to answer questions about all Glee cast members here on this blog).
Other reasons are that I’m not that enthusiastic about Glee in general anymore, especially the later seasons (though I do love most of the Glee cast, Kevin and Naya included), so it’s hard to find the energy and inspiration to write (besides about Kurt/Chris). Plus since I’ll probably won’t post on Glee Forum anymore I would need to transfer those long review posts over to tumblr first before I can update them, which is a pain in the a**.
So, to make a long story short: maybe I’ll get to it someday, and then I will probably update and/or write the reviews of all the original cast members up untill season 3 (as I promised a long time ago). But for now I’m using my (sadly very) limited writing time on the Kurt songs, both the songs I haven’t written a review for yet, and also trying to transfer the reviews I already did write on the Kurt’s Singing Voice thread at Glee Forum to tumblr (as the Kurt threads on Glee Forum aren’t accessible for non-members).

whitesheepcbd said: Do you happen to know, offhand, the highest and lowest pitches Chris Colfer sang during his years on Glee?  Just curious.
Yes, I do. (But only of Chris, so don’t ask me this for any of the other Glee actors please!)
Chris’ lowest note on Glee was in ‘(Give Up The) Funk’, in 1x21 (Funk), which was an A2.
As that note in ‘Funk’ was more spoken than sung: his lowest sung note after that was a B2 in ‘Home’ (6x02, Homecoming).
His highest note on Glee was in ‘Not The Boy Next Door’ (3x18, Choke), when he hit a G5 at the end. (’Defying Gravity’ had a F#5)
Not on Glee, but there’s an old video of Chris and a few other Glee cast members at a disco, and in it he sings a Bb5 (Bflat).
So that’s a range of 3 octaves.  ;)

I've been wondering for a while.. this finale huge note in "To Love You More." Does Lea sing it one breath or is there some kinda of studio trick?
My guess is that it’s just one long note, which Lea can pull off because she definitely has got the needed breathing/vocal techniques. Theoretically there could be a studio trick involved (never rule it out as a lot can be tweeked in a recording studio that *we* can’t detect) but I honestly don’t think so, as it wouldn’t really be necessary with an excellent singer like Lea.

Do I imagine it or does Chris goes even higher in new Defying Gravity? Or ar least his tone is even lighter now.
The key for the season 5 ‘Defying Gravity’ is the same as the season 1 version, so overall the song isn’t set higher. But at the end Chris does sing a high note that wasn’t in the season 1 version.
In the season 1 version he doesn’t sing the high F at the end (the note he ‘blows’ in the episode ‘Wheels’) but he sings a C# instead. In the season 5 version he does sing that high F.
There are also some other little improvisations he sings in the season 5 version that have very high notes that he didn’t sing in season 1, so that also adds to the impression that he’s singing higher in the season 5 version. But funny thing is that Chris still has the highest note in the season 1 version, because he sings a F# on the last “And you won’t bring me down”, whereas he ‘only’ sings a F on that word in the season 5 version.
I agree that on some parts in the season 5 version Chris sounds a bit ‘lighter’, although otoh on other lines he sounds ‘deeper’/’fuller’ than before. This is mostly due to the vocal training he got during his years on Glee and the physical growing he did during that time as well. I’m working on a side-by-side comparison of the 2 versions of ‘Defying Gravity’, so I’ll talk about all of this more in that review.  ;)

Unbiazed opinion, for West Side Story if you were casting who whould you cast with thouse auditions? Kurt with "I'm The Greatest Star" against Blaine with "Something Coming" for the role of Tony and Rachel with "Somewhere" against Mercedez with "Spotlight" for the role of Maria?
Uh-oh, you’re opening a can of worms here, lol. I’m still mad about that whole WSS fiasco and the blatant racism, body shaming and effemiphobia of the 3 directors, who all should have known better. Ugh!
Kurt showed with ‘I’m The Greatest Star’ that he has the light tenor voice needed for Tony, that he can move athleticly and quickly  on his feet like Tony, that he can handle a sword/knife like Tony, and that he’s got the acting chops needed for sensitive and troubled Tony. Blaine showed with ‘Something Coming’ that his voice doesn’t have the range nor right tone for Tony, that he’s too brazen and outgoing for Tony (Tony was quiet, shy but kind: more of a dreamer), and he didn’t show any light dancesteps or acting ability during his audition (oh, but that’s right: Blaine wasn’t even auditioning for Tony, LMAO). So Kurt it would be, obviously.
Both Rachel and Mercedes sang songs inappropiate for a Maria audition at first. Rachel did choose a WSS song, but she sang a Barbra-fied pop version of ‘Somewhere’, a song that should have been sweet and reflective, not belted out into the rafters with OTT expressions. Tbh: I would have dismissed her sent her away because of that song choice alone, as it basically shows disrespect/ignorance to the original material. Mercedes’ ‘Spotlight’ was not suited either, as it’s more R&B while WSS is classic musical, but at least she didn’t audition with a song from the show she auditioned for (which is already a big no, as ‘Broadway Babies’ Rachel and Blaine should have known). Their 2nd audition song ‘Out Here On My Own’ was not much like the WSS songs either, but at least it showed me the lighter tone in Mercedes’ voice and her ability to be subtle (while Rachel belted too much), so that made me choose Mercedes for Maria.
So yeah….. WSS on Glee was a total clusterfuck imo.

After we get songs from final episodes could you comment how through the course of glee voices and singing teqnique of the cast chainged? I mean, only main cast that played kids. Who improved and who declined? If it's too much that it would be interesting to hear about development of cast members that were the most unexpirienced at the start of glee: Chris, Dianna, Cory, Heather. If you could comment on that that would be very interesting.
This is a lot to ask for, lol, but I’ll try.
The ones you named were indeed the ones of the Glee ‘kids’ with the least technical singing experience when Glee started.
Chris learned a lot over the years, picking up a lot of singing techniques (as vocal coaches were hesitant to work with him when he was young) and fitting them into his own interpretation of how he wanted his voice to be and to sound like, lol. As Chris was the youngest when Glee started you can also notice very clearly how his voice matured and ripened during 6 seasons of Glee. Therefore his voice changed the most of the Glee cast imo.
Dianna didn’t so much learn better singing techniques while she was on Glee (although she did improve them) but imo she became a lot more confident about singing in general. And you can hear that, as her voice sounded stronger in later songs and she also dared to experiment more with coloring, interpreting etc.
Cory’s singing voice was a diamond in the rough when Glee began, and over they years he polished it, so slowly that diamond got more shine to it. I was so proud of him when he sang ‘I’ve Gotta Be Me’ in 2x18, because I could check off every little technical thing he had learned till then. The most important thing Cory learned was to use his breath control, so he sounded ‘fuller/darker’ in the low notes and ‘rounder/less reaching’ in the high notes. Still I have to say that my personal most favorite Finn songs are some of his first: ‘Can’t Fight This Feeling’ and ‘I’ll Stand By You’, when he still was the diamond in the rough.
Heather is a dancer, not a singer, I think everyone agrees with me there. Having said that: I think Heather became a better singer during Glee, especially in the last 2 seasons. Dancers have the disadvantage (when it comes to singing) that they breath differently than singers. Singers relax the abdomen muscles to let as much air into their lower parts of the lungs, so they can control that air with those abdomen muscles and simultaneously free/relax the upper body so it can vibrate more with the tones produced. But dancers learn to keep their abdomen muscles as tight as they can, to keep their balance and elegance, so they breath in higher than singers, more in the middle part of their lungs: around their waist and just above (singers use the tummy muscles under the waistline). To un-learn that is very hard, as tightening the muscles is such an automatic reaction for them (muscle-memory again), but for singing they need to relax and even push out their abdomen muscles. I think Heather learned that in the last seasons and therefore her singing got better. And I’ll be honest here: growing a baby inside for 9 months helps a lot to get those muscles looser too, lol, so Heather singing at her best in season 6 was no surprise to me.
And now we come to the ‘fun’ part: the ones who’s voices I think got worse over the years. I’m sorry, I know this will sound “Oh, it’s her again, she’s biased as hell blahblahblah”, but I have to say it’s Darren and Lea. Both sang so much on Glee (under stressful circumstances: having to learn a song in the morning and record it in a one hour studio session in the afternoon: that’s unhealthy and unprofessional) and often had to sing songs absolutely not suited to their voices. The sad result is that Darren’s voice got hoarser, breathier and even more limited in range over time, and vocal rest can only partly heal that by now (I really wonder how he’ll do as Hedwig, as I doubt his voice will last for those 3 months). And Lea lost some of the purity and clarity in her voice, there’s a little rasp there sometimes now. She also worked a few nasty Rachel habits in her voice, so I hope that when she returns to a singing role (tv, movie or Broadway) she’ll take singing lessons to get her voice back on track and spit-spot again.
The simple fact is that it’s these 2 and not other members of the cast who’s voices suffered because both just sang so often in comparison, Lea already from the start and Darren since season 2. Amber and Naya sang a lot too, especially in season 3, but Amber didn’t get that much in seasons 1, 2, 4 and 5, and Naya only started getting more songs in season 3 and then got left out of episodes a lot in seasons 4 and 5. If even a wonderful talented and experienced singer like Matt had to take vocal lessons (for a year!) before returning to Broadway fulltime because he realized how Glee had messed up his voice, when Mr. Shue hardly even sang anymore in the later seasons, then maybe we, the fans of the Glee cast members who didn’t sing much at all (to our sadness and frustration), should be grateful that at least our faves’ voices weren’t damaged by the gruelling Glee schedule (combined with Glee producers not knowing shit about singing voices and how to use them properly).

AAAAAAaarrrgh!
Tumblr messed up again! A few months back I had changed the settings of this tumblr so that I would get an email whenever someone asked a question (so I wouldn’t miss it, as I don’t log into this tumblr often) and it worked just fine. For a while at least..... :/
But now I've logged in to check something out for myself and there are several asks in my inbox from the past few weeks that I never got an email about!
So sorry, guys. I’ll try to answer most of them now, before dinner.
Also, I’m working on 2 different reviews right now: ‘Memory’ from 5x19, and a side-by-side analysis of Kurt’s ‘Defying Gravity’ solos season 1 and season 5. Don’t expect them this week though, but hopefully soon.  ;)

Is there a link for the interview? Where he demonstrates the beginning of Give Up the Funk?
It’s in a radio interview, someone put it right at the beginning of this youtube video of Chris talking about his voice: link.

What do you think about Lea's live duet of "For Good" with Kristin Chenoweth?
Kristin is excellent as always, but Lea isn’t always singing on key (it’s very audible when they sing the harmonies at the end). It’s like Lea can’t hear herself sing (which is a possibility I guess of the audio guy screwed up). It’s either that or she’s extremely nervous or sick. I’ve never heard her going off tone so much.
Link to youtube.

What is your opinion on Adam's voice? Not the one who is Lambert but the one who is British and sand "Baby Got Back."
You mean Adam Crawford aka Oliver Kieran Jones? I like it. Of course we didn’t get much of his singing on the show, so I don’t have much to go on. But from what I heard in his one song on Glee his singing is relaxed, he has a warm tone to his voice, and there’s also a little vibrato which is always a plus.
(As a Kurtsie I wish we had gotten a Kadam duet on the show.)

Thank you for all the really helpful posts you've done. I've really enjoyed reading them and now finally at the very end of Glee I have a question too. How low does Chris go in Daydream Believer? I've had Daydream Believer on repeat all afternoon and I adore it for the performance, how well the lyrics fit, and for the symbolism of first and last songs Teenage Dream to Daydream Believer.
‘Daydream Believer’ is a nice song indeed, it somehow got stuck in my head all day today.
Chris sings very low in it, even lower than he did in season 4′s ‘You Are The Sunshine of My Life’ (he sang a Dsharp3 in that song).
His lowest note in ‘Daydream Believer’ is a C3 (the C below the Middle C), which is impressive considering the high notes at the other end of his range.
It isn’t his lowest note on Glee though. That would be the A2 he hit in season 1 in ‘(Give Up the) Funk’. I remember Chris saying in an interview that noone would believe he actually sang that part himself (right at the beginning of the song), so he demonstrated it live in the interview.  :D

Are there any types of food or drinks that you should avoid in order to keep vocal chords healthy and in best condition? Basically what I'm asking is - is there like some sort of a diet that singers should follow or is it fine just to eat-drink anything? Cause I heard that you should avoid acidic food like tomatos. And, for example, Lea said on Ellen that she avoids dairy on a day that she's supposed to sing.
Dairy is indeed something you can better avoid on an important singing day, as it will make your mouth and throat produce a lot of phlegm, and that can be getting in the way during singing. It can even form a small film of slime on the vocal chords and you wouldn’t want that.
Other beverages to avoid, or at least to be modest/careful with, would be aerated drinks like coke or any lemonade with bubbles, for obvious reasons. And of course alcoholic drinks, as the vocal chords are muscles and muscles tend to relax/weaken after drinking alcohol. Also: alcohol lessens your capability of reaction and your memory, so not a good idea when you have to perform.
I don’t know about tomatoes, never heard of that, but certain gas inducing foods like beans and onions can get in the way in your stomach when you have to control your breathing. And acid/sour foods like vinegar and lemons can irritate the tissue around your vocal chords, like the folds and your throat.
If you have a cold don’t use too much of those coughdrops or coughsyrups, as they usually contain (pepper)mint and/or menthol, and those ingredients can ‘paralyze’/numb your vocal chords for a while. Natural alternatives for when you have a sore throat: honey, hot water, tea (with honey, kamomile or thyme), licorice, applesauce (hot or cold).

The songs of episode 6x13 of Glee: Dreams Come True (spoilers)
These are the last songs of the final episode of Glee. I wish I could say that Glee goes out on a high note, but most of the 6x13 get no more than a “meh” from me, and the sad thing is that this is not how I wanted it to end: I was rooting for Glee to get it right one last time, to give the cast I love so much a proper farewell.
Teach Your Children – Will :
Will singing while he plays the ukelele is a clear throwback (or cheap repeat?) to season 1’s ‘Over The Rainbow’, and imo it pales in comparison to that song. Oh it’s nicely sung by Matt alright, and in that regard it’s a proper way to say goodbye to him and his character, but it doesn’t have the same impact anymore (repeats rarely do), as the honesty and seemingly spontaneous simplicity of the first time is now contrived specificly to evoke those same emotions. Even the lyrics of ‘Teach Your Children’ ring  false, as Will has most of the time been an awful teacher to some of these kids, although Glee likes to tell us otherwise. Plus where ‘Over the Rainbow’ had Puck’s very nice 2nd voice they didn’t even bother to include the original harmonies of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young in ‘Teach Your Children’. Sam is playing the guitar on’Teach the Children’ (like Puck in ‘Over the Rainbow’) so he could have very easily sung along (or else some of the other ‘kids’ present in the choir room). Without those harmonies the song becomes quite boring. Sometimes an echo of the past is just that: a repetition or reflection, a mere imitation, a shadow of the original.
Someday We’ll Be Together – Mercedes :
They sped the song up on Glee which takes away a little of it’s original layback feel, but I don’t mind that as it also prevents ‘Someday We’ll Be Together’ from being too boring with all its repetition. Best song of the episode, but tbh that’s a not so high bar. Amber is excellent as always, and she shows she certainly has got a voice for Motown songs. I hope to hear more from her in the future (starring on Empire maybe?).
Daydream Believer – Kurt+Blaine :
A final Klaine duet. I like ‘Daydream Believer’, it’s light, it’s fun, it’s in a comfortable vocal range for both of them, and except for the 1st chorus it’s quite even (someone had to point out to me that Chris was also singing on that first chorus, that’s how much they buried him under Darren’s voice, not that this is uncommon but this time they took it to the extremes). But it’s also shallow, meaningless fluff, which is fine for those who love that (and something tells me most of the remaining Klainers don’t want to go further than “shallow” when it comes to their OTP, not the way Klaine was written in the last seasons) but I’d trade all 3 of season 6’s Klaine duets for another ‘Rose’s Turn’, ‘Being Alive’, or even a ‘Somewhere Only We Know’. It really angers me that both Chris and Darren didn’t have a solo this season, especially Chris (as one of the original 5), and nothing demonstrates more how much their individual characters got lost in Klaine than them ending the series with a superficial song by the Monkees, a Hollywood fabricated fake band made for young girls to buy their records and flail over.
The Winner Takes It All – Sue+Will :
Jane Lynch has improved her voice a lot these past 2 years, but she’s in no way a match to Agnetha Fältskog from ABBA. Her voice is too mature (avoiding to say “old” here) and ‘heavy’ in comparison, and the slightly lower key doesn’t help with that either (although it helps a bit in the high notes, but still... ouch). It’s also not a good sign that I already almost fell asleep during the intro; it seems like even the studio pianist has grown tired of Glee. And I understand they needed to add harmonies to make ‘The Winner Takes It All’ a sort of semi-duet, but they made all the wrong choices here imo, starting with turning  the original (sung by Annifrid) echoeing harmonies into synthesized irritating background noise, while creating new harmonies that don’t fit the singers’ voices nor the way these 2 could actually sound well together. Although he’s an excellent singer, ‘The Winner Takes It All’ also doesn’t suit Matt’s voice. What especially jars is when they turn the dynamic around and let Will sing the lead voice for a few lines somewhere in the middle (with Sue singing 2nd voice), but before you’re even used to this new weird dynamic they flip it back again. The ending is better, when Jane and Matt start alternating the lead vocals and have some stronger harmonies together (Jane lead, Matt 2nd voice) inbetween. It’s not a bad song, and Jane and Matt sure try to make the best of it, but it just doesn’t come together, and maybe its biggest offense is that it’s completely ignoring ABBA’s unique sound (but not in a “fresh, new” way).
This Time – Rachel :
Darren wrote a very pretty original song, especially the lyrics are quite beautiful, so kudos to him. And that’s why it’s a pity this song is so overproduced it’s sometimes hard to even hear those lovely lyrics. Even the melody gets drowned in multiple tempo changes, overdramatic dynamic build-ups and -drops, and orchestrations with heavy violins and too loud drums. It’s too much, too bombastic, too pretentious, everything a simple (in a good way) and honest song doesn’t…, shouldn’t need. Also sometimes, especially when she starts belting, I have trouble distinguishing the words Lea is singing, partly because the instruments are drowning her out, and again: that’s a pity as the lyrics are so nice. And although Lea clearly goes for it all the way, and she’s no doubt an impressive singer, I miss sincerity in her voice in ‘This Time’. The end result unfortunately is just a generic, forgettable pop song. The first half of the song is very nice though, before all the stops are pulled out. Sometimes less is more, and this is imo the case for ‘This Time’. Darren stans, take notice to what this known “hater” is saying next: I sincerely hope someday we’ll get a Darren version of ‘This Time’, because I think he’ll do a better job and be more true to the material than Glee did.
I Lived – Glee cast :
‘I Lived’ is not the song I wanted Glee to close its curtains with, but I guess “current pop song” won over “epic pop/rock oldie” in the writers room, even though a lot of the golden oldies Glee covered were imo a significant part of the show’s initial success. But no matter what I think of the original: I also don’t like the Glee version of ‘I Lived’. I usually enjoy it when many characters getting little solo lines in a group song, and since this is the very last song on Glee it would only be fair to let everyone be heard. And it’s not that I don’t appreciate that Will and most of the originals (except for Tina, smh) and semi-originals Blam get something to do, but the way they did it is a real mess imo. Come on, this is the last song on Glee, so you’d expect some appreciative nods and last bows for the most meaningful and visible characters of the entire series, the ones who shaped the show. And yes, I’m talking about honoring the originals and also acknowledging the characters that joined in the next seasons. It can be done, if only by giving each season’s characters a chorus together (like the season 4 ‘noobs’). But not even many of the season 1 originals can be heard (even though they were there), like Puck, Brittany, Santana, Mike and Quinn, and of course poor Tina who was part of the original 5. None of them get a voice in Glee’s finale, nor any of the characters that were added in later seasons bar precious Blam and a random Roderick. And to add insult to injury we get original ND characters Mercedes and Kurt only harmonizing in the background, when Blaine and Sam are literally pushed to the foreground at their expense (which says a lot about the writers’ mindset). On top of all this ultimate RIB’s middle finger shitfest of solo distribution: how sad is it that there are only 2 girls recognizable singing on the last ever song of Glee, with Chris being the 3rd “honorary” girl I guess. The only girl who gets decent solo focus is Lea, while the WOC is singing backup vocals. Glee ends exactly how Ryan probably wanted it: as a bland white sausagefest with his “star” Rachel Berry in the spotlight.
*********************************************************************************
I really have nothing more to add to this. Glee doesn’t end with a bang, it doesn’t even end with a whimper, it just…..ends. And these last songs in this finale episode reflect very well why the show declined so rapidly: rehashes, trying to catch lightning in a bottle a second time (which never works), boredom, shallowness, callousness, pomposity, favoritism, disrespect, and fucked up priorities.
[Personal] I loved Glee and will always be grateful for the fun and lovely music it brought me over the seasons, but I’m glad it’s over now. There will be no more expectations for new episodes, and therefore also no more disappointments. I hope all dreams do come true for the cast of Glee: they deserve it after all their hard work on the show.
I still have many Kurt songs to review, and some other Glee-related projects I want to finish as well, so to say it in Cher’s words: you haven’t seen the last of me yet.  ;)

Have you seen/heard the musical Grand Hotel? If they ever did a revival of it I would love to see Chris Colfer in the role of Baron Felix Von Gaigern. I just imagine Chris would be able to do an amazing version of Love Can't Happen. Plus the role of the Baron could involve all kinds of cool athletic stuff as he can be portrayed or is a cat burglar
Sorry, I haven’t heard of or seen that musical, but I found this 1991 version of it on youtube, so I’ll make sure to watch it soon.
I also found the song ‘Love Can’t Happen’ on youtube, and it’s a beautiful song, a song that indeed seems to be in Chris’ wheelhouse.
As I don’t know the musical (yet) I can’t comment on if Chris would be right for the role of the Baron, but it sure looks interesting, and he would definitely love to play a ninja-like cat burglar, lol.  ;)
