Context: The party stumbles across a recently ruined city. They help out their new dragon born warlock pal and are ambushed by a nightmare and 5 hell hounds. The party all do average rolls. Human fighter lvl 3: natural 20. Dm (me): Nice! One round later. Human fighter: natural 20. Dm: Nice dude wtf! Continues to roll crits until the encounter ends totalling up to 6 including a death save of a nat 20. Dm: I....that's not possible...
