Bruce and Dick are THE miscommunication trope for the ages, how absolutely wild it is to have Dick be saying, "Bruce doesn't trust me, he doesn't think I'm good enough, he's disappointed in me, literally all I want is to make him proud," while Bruce is thinking, "Dick is everything I ever wanted to be and more, he's all the best parts of me, he's everything good and right in the whole world, he shouldn't be burdened by me or my mantle," and somehow these two narratives just exist side by side and I'm supposed to be normal about it

i think the key difference between george lucas’s star wars and disney’s star wars is that lucas is a man with an ideology. someone with a point of view, and all that entails. which comes with ideas of revolution, anti-imperialism, challenging the status quo, cultural appropriation and racist stereotypes. complex and contradictory ideas because that’s how artists are: complex and complicated people. disney is not. disney is a corporation. a corporation can’t have ideology, because ideology defeats the purpose of profit. and when the only thing you do is to turn on the movie manufacturing machine before you sit down and plan what ideas are you trying to convey to the audience, then your results are going to be washed out corporate garbage. and because when you’re a giant corporation who only cares about selling to the widest audience possible, you can’t take sides. you can’t decide on an idea. because you want to sell your product to people who are on the entire political spectrum. which results in movies without ideology, without purpose, without soul.

Ficlet: The Season of Giving

Prompt: Titans vs. Batfam

“What day are you available this year to celebrate Christmas?”

Dick blinked from the sudden question and glanced up from the microscope. “December 25th, I would assume?”

Dressed in his Batman uniform with his cowl off, Bruce appeared uncertain, even apprehensive. “The Titans are now in Bludhaven, so you must want to celebrate with them. I would also assume you and Barbara have plans.”

He could crack a joke. It would be too easy to say Bruce must have been the latest rich guy to be visited by three ghosts and finally cared about others, but if Dick was being truthful, Bruce had been making an effort for a while.

Of course, he missed one very important thing.

Dick rose from his chair and gripped Bruce’s shoulder. “Thank you. I appreciate you factoring my life until the family plans, but I also made sure to factor you in, too. The Titans are going to have a celebrate the weekend before. The Gordons generally do Christmas Eve dinner, but I’ll be home later that night. Barbara’s spending most of the holiday with her dad, but she’ll pop over for a bit during the day.” He smiled. “Does that work?”

Bruce nodded, though hesitated. “If something needs to change in the future – ”

“I’ll make sure to ask.”

“Good.” Bruce nodded again, this time, it appeared, to himself, but as he headed off, Dick called back, “Yamaha MT-10 with Midnight Cyan.”

Bruce glanced over his shoulder. “We’re capping presents at $250.”

“You’re a billionaire! You don’t need to do caps.”

“This was not my decision.”

“Was it Steph’s? Duke’s?” Dick’s eyes widened. “It was Jason’s, wasn’t it? He was a successful crime lord! Who is he to care about caps? I’m making a call.”

“You could just buy the motorcycle yourself.”

Dick gasped. “And just where is your holiday spirit, Scrooge? It’s the season of giving!”

A majority of people are stupid, and it sucks.

We celebrate it on the 25th, but my religion’s Christmas is actually in January.

I'm Norwegian and I celebrate on the 24th, but I know some parts of the world celebrate the 25th. Now I'm curios maybe the solstice has something to do with it. Or is Norway just weird or what

Chime, I will not use your app for the simple fact that it is super hard to scroll part your ads without hitting them, and then I’m taken your app download page eighty times.

As a marketer, I know that is screwing with your stats. You’ll say I’m your meetings, “We had eighty hits,” like that’s an achievement. But you’ll have no downloads and the hits were all me trying to get past your page.

Such a bad user experience, and I’m not even in the app! I can’t imagine being a customer!
