Step 1 is why the 9-5 is so crucial. It funds your investment. The bigger your earnings, the more you can put away to accumulating wealth. I would focus on setting aside a minimum 10% for investment and work up to as much as 50%. Big earners make the mistake of buying liabilities to fund a lifestyle. That’s is not a wealth mindset. Step 2 goes without saying. The difference in living well below your means can go to investments. Step 3. Buy low cost index ETFs especially if you don’t have time to develop an investing strategy. My hope is that millennials will do what is right and grow the middle class with common sense strategies. Great nations fall as the middle class shrinks and a chasm grows between the haves and have-nots. Nations rise when the middle class rises. I’m retired now. I wake up daily around 8AM —a far cry from 5-6AM starts. I check email or Instagram for about an hour and do daily dialysis M-F for 2.5 hours during which time I’ll usually watch sports if I don’t fall asleep. Today was post-holiday so I’ll line up the options contracts I’ll write but that takes an hour of my time, and I’ll have spent a couple hours on the weekend doing my research for that. I’ll spend much of my time reading or watching YouTube trying to get any idea for my IG posts. This idea came to me while mindlessly watching Love Actually for the 10th time. It’s 4PM and I’m fixing’ to take a quick nap. Life is good. My children are growing more mature and we’re learning to let go as they begin deal with life’s triumphs and disappointments. We’re planning to travel more and will soon plan a trip to the panhandle to visit our eldest. But we want to make more elaborate travel plans, God willing. I’ll often read late into the evening or early morning. I do my most productive writing in the wee hours of the morning and the day’s events often culminate in many ideas for the page. I’m often in bed by 2-4AM and sleep 4-6 hours before starting again. Managing the “empire” is pretty automatic and boring. It’s by design. Our stock portfolio manages itself because I’m in it for the long term. I may reallocate quarterly but that’s it. The real estate cash flows nicely and we’re not expecting any capital expenditures though we always plan it. I’m always hunting for deals but there are only good ones, not great ones. As for new things, I’m slowly increasing my position in cryptocurrency and companies related to it. I may be different than other pages because I loved my job. I didn’t want to stop working until I absolutely had to. My work was my ministry. There’s more to the value of work than the money it provides.
