How women are better entrepreneurs than men?
Entrepreneurship is a sphere which has largely been dominated by the men fraternity since ages and even a recent survey by a US audit firm stamps the same fact whilst stating nearly 70% of businesses as male –owned. Although anyone can ascertain that men are more competent in operating and running a particular business after looking at these numbers, there’s much more to be looked at in the same context.
Tumblr media
1. Firms owned by females brings more revenue on board
It has been found in several surveys that businesses which have been owned and operated by women have generated more revenues that those owned by their male counterparts. Womenable, a social enterprise firm with women in sight has put forward their analysis based on the growth trends of firm owned by men and women between 1997-2014, and ascertain that businesses which are owned and operated by women overall these years have seen a tremendous growth of 72.3 % as compared to 45.1 % of their male counterparts in the same aspect.
2. Firms owned by female entrepreneurs created more jobs
Same survey has also revealed that the firms which are owned by operated by female has saw more number of jobs created over the years as compared to the firms owned by men. The growth rate witnessed during this period in terms of jobs created was around 18.39 in case of women, which was way higher than that of 0.37 % in case of their male counterparts.
3. Women have proved their precedence in senior leadership roles
Business firms which comprises of a more competent senior leadership are known to be performing better that the ones without it and women have proved their primacy in the same aspect as well. They have outperformed their male counterparts in almost every role and this can be witnessed by looking at the growing number of Female CEO’s recruited by Top firms across the globe.
In a nutshell
Although men have dominated the business world with their growing numbers, it’s their female counterparts which have proved to be a better leader and entrepreneur whilst generating more revenue and creating more jobs during the process. Gautam Sharma, renowned Entrepreneur and Chairman of Professional Boxing Organization of India, described the same fact in most beautiful manner possible. As per him,” I personally believe that your gender does not impact your management skills, but interestingly enough there are a few qualities about women that never cease to amaze and inspire me”.

Are Women Better Managers? - Gautam Sharma
Here’s a touchy topic, but I’ve been hugely inspired to write this by the women I have worked with and have known closely. And above all by the woman in my life who amazes me to no end – my mother. I personally believe that your gender does not impact your management skills, but interestingly enough there are a few qualities about women that never cease to amaze and inspire me:
Tumblr media
Intuition and reflection
It’s been proven by scientific research, women have a coherent understanding of issues which stems from the fact that they have an ability to listen, understand and also intuitively analyse situations at hand before reaching a conclusion. Women year on year have demonstrated a keen sixth sense and better reflection on issues and problems as compared to men. Also most women colleagues consider a job as a part of their overall life, in a more holistic manner; thus viewing their professions more self-reflectively.
Diplomacy
No don’t get me wrong here, I’m talking about the diplomacy that effective female managers exhibit that makes performance happen, that makes each team member to recognise their strengths and weaknesses and make the most of them. Criticism laced with positive constructive feedback is something that has always worked in an organisational set up. This also makes women better negotiators, where mostly both parties tend to leave the negotiation table happy and not with the feeling of have been beaten by another party.
Work–Life balance
The inherent ability of women to separate competition from collaboration, and choose the latter whenever needed is something organisations are recognising increasingly. This collaborative attitude is what makes women manage their work-life balance a bit more emphatically. Be it corporate problem solving, giving an ear to colleague's personal problems or managing their own family issues, they seem to balance it all with enviable ease.
Financial Management
And who could debate with the good old financial management that we have seen women in the family do while we were growing up and even later. Trust mothers and sisters at home to have saved for a rainy day. The same wisdom to a large extent translates into wise management of resources, and the foresight of calculated risk taking. Women mostly would take a risk only after covering all bases and getting a buy in from other stakeholders.
Crisis management
Women tend to be better at multi-tasking and working on simultaneous situations all with the same efficiency. Wearing multiple hats is a regular occurrence in women’s lives; they manage work, home, parents, siblings, friends and a lot more all with equal aplomb. Women thus naturally learn to manage crisis and focus intently on solutions as opposed to stay in the gloom of problems. Apart from these, there are many other qualities that I could keep talking about: emotional intelligence, empathy, pragmatism and resilience that drives women to reach the positions they do. It’s admirable how they defy the odds, come on top and make it all look effortless.

Never Miss These Points While Conducting a Negotiation by Gautam Sharma
Gautam Sharma - Sales professionals always find negotiations and bartering a thrilling experience. When you, as the sales professional, try selling airtime, it is all about abundant negotiations. Being an expert of mitigations is highly essential for everyone in daily activities of a business. After being in the market of making deals with clients for years, neither I nor you can help but become an expert of mitigation. I learned, and so will you, that everything is negotiable. There are some necessities for every negotiation.
1. Devising and investigation: Research and study are two clauses which you can’t substitute for anything else when delving into mitigation. Regardless of your considerations about yourself being a good or an average negotiator, you have to study your objectives, the best case scenarios and the worst ones too. You have to be ready to handle any and every outcome of the negotiation. Having information is the key which lets you know the other party’s objectives, urgencies, weaknesses, options and everything else. You have to use the opponent’s weaknesses as your strengths.
2. Relationship establishment: Before going further towards the negotiations, you have to try and establish a relationship with the other party. It is the skills of your people that make all the difference. You have to understand the individual on the opposite side while being receptive and understandable. The reception and responsiveness in your behavior are what lays the foundation for a profitable discussion. It is essential for the other party to think of you as a sincere person, who is forthright, approachable and behaves with integrity. After establishing that the negotiation becomes productive and moves to your favorable direction.
3. Receiving as per mitigations: A successful and tactful negotiator sets up the bar high enough to create a valued insight into the perception of the other party. To put things simply, you, as a seller, have to ask for more than you expect. Most buyers will want to pay as less as possible, and so, if you keep a high price, the negotiated deal will find a middle ground instead of a ditch. This final price will be good for both you and the buyer. However, the golden rule states that you should never bargain yourself down before sitting down at the table. You will never get what you ask for but only what you can negotiate.
4. Two winners: As the negotiator, it is understandable that you wish to win, but you also have to keep the interests of the other party in mind. If you limit your thinking to win and lose, you lose creativity. Ingenuity is crucial for a successful negotiation, and you have to understand what either party needs to reach an outcome that satisfies both the participants. You ensure your victory when you arrive at a win-win situation.
5. Don’t lose patience: Patience is one of the chief virtues for everything that you do in this world, and it is crucial for a negotiation. There isn’t much difference between mitigating and baking a cake. The cake will not bake faster if you turn up the heat. It will only burn off, so being calm and composes during a negotiation lets you asses the opportunities with objectivity. Begin with a few points of disagreement that you can address quickly without negotiating much. After that, you can shift toward more substantial issues. Try to hold on to a few things that you can give up after reaching an advantageous position. There is no room for emotion in a business deal, so you have to restrain yourself. Those who can pause for the most extended amount of time will win the negotiation.
Successful negotiation is the best way to achieve the goals of your business. You should never take anything personally during the negotiation and leave your personalities out of the discussion. If you can do that, you will notice opportunities with better impartiality.
