I do have Things to Say about “BEN there, done that.” Most of them are things I’ve said before, but bear with me.
- Between “Ben there, done that” and the “it’s certainly a hot January” tweet, I’m positive that Bea and Ben’s First Time was in January 2015 before he left for university. It tracks too well with the plot and what we know about their relationship. This is my headcanon anyway.
- It is such significant character growth that Beatrice even made this joke. A few months ago, Beatrice would have threatened to fight you if you so much as implied she was into Ben. She insisted she hated him until she was blue in the face. But now, not only is she openly admitting she wants the Benedick, but that she’s already had it, and she’s proud of that. She can openly tell Ben she loves him in front of another person and the entire internet, and gleefully admit they’ve been together, in the same video. She can tell Meg “your teasing doesn’t work on me anymore, because I do want Ben and I’m no longer ashamed of that, and also I’m hilarious at puns, so take that!” She is so comfortable with her feelings for him now. NMTD-era Beatrice could never.
- It remains insane to me how well TCW used this fan-written line, because whether they intended it or not, this placement gives it a double meaning. For Beatrice, she’s saying she’s into Benedick and proud of it. But “been there done that” also has the connotation of “and now, onto the next thing.” So when Benedick himself watches this video, all he’ll be able to see is Beatrice making fun of him, laughing at him, saying no one important will ever care about his videos, and then saying “yeah I’ve been with him, no big deal, on to the next thing/next guy.” That could even be taken as implying that she thought he wasn’t good in bed. It is SO easy for Ben to take Bea’s actions and words here in the worst possible light, solely because of how insecure he is. He can’t see that Bea is actually just venting her anger at him about the rules when she says that stuff after the prank call and “Ben ruins everything”, and he can’t see at all how striking it is that even when angry at him, she can’t help also expressing her love for him and attraction to him. (We don’t know for sure that he does have this reaction to this video, but I think he does. He’s able to rationalize away most of these bad feelings and decide Bea didn’t really mean it that way, but he can’t fully purge the fear that she’s not that into him after all, and it feeds right into his certainty that she’ll break up with him once she’s on her travels.)
- The miscommunication between these two absolutely kills me. But it’s so well done! Aughhhh these idiots!!!! I love them so.
#lolilo#lolilodaily#prank calls#otp: team blessed#Beadick#it is so painful that Bea is finally in a place where she can be open about loving Ben… right when he decides to pull away from her#from her perspective it must be like when they were 14 all over again but worse

The prank call to Ben is absolutely Beatrice's revenge for the rules. And even though it's mean of her and I hate it? Totally deserved on Ben's part, he got off easy tbh.

I always remembered that when Bea says "buddy I love you, but that's never going to happen," that you could hear Ben say "I love you" back. But I can't hear him say it at all on this watchthrough! I am in genuine distress!
#it isnt in the captions either#</3#im still choosing to hear “i love you too but you're both horrible people” on that one line#fight me#lolilo#lolilodaily

God, I remember in 2015 I couldn't even watch Prank Calls because my phone anxiety and secondhand embarrassment was that bad. I couldn't watch real YouTubers do prank calls in videos either, still can't. I can barely make a real phone call, people who can do it for the bit are basically space aliens to me. Brutal.
#lolilo#lolilodaily#prank calls#completely selfish headcanon that ben cant do prank calls he psychs himself out immediately#and FREDDIE imagine if the flat had made freddie prank call someone for a punishment#she'd drop dead on the spot

I HATE MORAL OCD. well i shouldnt say hate thats a strong word. and i dont want to sound like i hate people WITH moral ocd because i dont of course. i just hate having it. but i shouldnt think that, i do like having morals, its just stressful to be thinking about them so constantly and scrutinizing every little thing i do or think. but really thats the least i could do so i should at least try, right? just because i suffer from— no, struggle with moral ocd doesn’t mean i should just stop thinking about things all together, thats not what im saying and i should make that clear, but i
