Grief comes in its own time for everyone, in its own way. The really crappy thing, the very worst part of grief is that you can’t control it. The best we can do is try to let ourselves feel it when it comes, and let it go when we can. The very worst part is that the minute you think you’re past it, it starts all over again. And always, every time, it takes your breath away.

We’re supposed to feel. We’re supposed to love and hate and hurt and grieve and break and be destroyed and rebuild ourselves to be destroyed again. That is human. That is humanity. That’s being alive. That’s the point. That’s the entire point. Don’t avoid it. Don’t extinguish it.

I love Meredith and this woman has been through a lot. We should be talking about it. But why is no one talking about Amelia? 

Amelia who lost her dad when she was 5 and he was shot right in front of her. 

Amelia who was a drug addict and a troubled teen but still managed to go to med school and end up being a neurosurgeon

Amelia whose best friend committed suicide.

Amelia who relapsed in her drug addiction and lost the love of her life due to an overdose

Amelia who ended up pregnant with a literally brainless child, fathered by  her lost love, and had to give birth to it.

Amelia who decided to move to Seattle to be with her brother and his family so she could start over. 

Amelia who after all of this and all she has come back from, lost that brother. The brother who protected her when her father was shot. The brother who was a father figure to her. 

Amelia has been through so much and now she has to go through this. All the men she loves in her life have died. She has to deal with recovery from addiction on top of all this loss. Amelia is amazing. Amelia does not deserve this pain.
