Native Wisconsin
Native People of Wisconsin by Ojibwe scholar and journalist Patty Loew (b.1952), published in 2003 by the Wisconsin Historical Society Press in Madison, Wisconsin, is a book for young readers about the twelve Indian Nations that live in Wisconsin, including my tribe, the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans. The book also includes the history of the First People in Wisconsin and the impact of European arrivals on Native culture.
Patty Loew, a Wisconsinite and member of the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Ojibwe tribe, is a journalist, professor, author, community historian, broadcaster, documentary filmmaker, academic, and advocate. This children's book is a testament to her work, showcasing tribal narratives that encompass different methods through which Indigenous communities preserve their history. With a particular emphasis on oral tradition, this work is a valuable resource for educators and individuals interested in Native American history and will surely captivate young readers.

saw someone say months ago that the best cover story for jason coming back to life in the public eye is to say he was in witness protection. and i agree with that! but id like to add: jason would make a public statement saying that the reason he was in witness protection is “i saw joker kill robin”

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ image one: taken by astronaut Robert F. Overmyer while aboard the space shuttle Challenger on its seventh flight in 1985. Known as mission STS-51B, this expedition saw Overmyer commanding a crew that took off on April 29th and successfully returned to Earth on May 6th. This whole mission and more specifically its crew are pretty interesting and this is a recommendation on giving the Wikipedia or Spacefacts page about it a read. For example, under a year later would see the infamous tenth and final mission of the Challenger which resulted in the death of all seven crew members aboard. Overmyer himself was one of the lead investigators for the incident. Also among the crew was Taylor Gun-Jin Wang (王赣俊), the first person of Chinese origin to go into space, and Eugene Huu-Chau "Gene" Trinh (technically on the backup crew), the first Vietnamese American astronaut in space.
pictured below is Overmyer exercising while onboard STS-51B
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ image two: taken by the ISS Expedition 23 crew on May 29th, 2010. For three of the members-- Timothy Creamer (NASA), Aleksandr Skvortsov (RSA), and Mikhail Korniyenko (RSA)-- this was their first spaceflight. Assorted Interesting Facts: ① Timothy Creamer was the first astronaut to live tweet from space. ② After this mission Soichi Noguchi (JAXA) would go on to voice himself in the anime adaption of Space Brothers (宇宙兄弟), one of the best-selling manga series of all time (beat out both Death Note and Fruits Basket for frame of reference). ③ Among those onboard was Tracy Dyson, whose many exploits make me believe she must be living her best life. She's lead vocalist for the all-astronaut band Max Q, who you can hear performing at the Space Exploration Educators Conference (SEEC) of 2013, appeared as a guest judge for the space-themed episode of the Food Networks Cupcake Wars in 2011, and served as advisor and inspiration for Jessica Chastain's role in The Martian (2015). In addition to all that, Dyson returned to space this year as a member of the ongoing ISS Expedition 71.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ image three: taken by a crew member of STS-39, the twelfth mission of NASA's Space Shuttle Discovery. This expedition was going wrong left and right from the start: Before the astronauts even stepped foot on the shuttle cracks were found on four lug hinges which resulted in the launch being pushed from early March to late April. The new date of April 23rd was again pushed back to the 28th after a propellant pump for one of the main engines didn't perform as expected. After much delay and many replaced parts, the Discovery took off for a long eight days of experiments-- which was quickly wrought with challenges after two tape recorders stopped working only four hours after activation. It would take half that time just to get them operational again. In trying to return came another issue as the planned landing site of Edwards Air Force Base in California faced unexpected high winds and the shuttle had to reroute to land at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Interestingly enough, this space center would be the same one that crewmember Guion "Guy" Stewart Bluford Jr. made history at eight years earlier when he became the first African-American to leave orbit.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ image four: this was also taken by Robert F. Overmyer during STS-51B. To make up for the lack of story here's one last fun fact: despite the original post claiming to depict photos of the northern lights, these are all photos of the southern lights.
pictured below is one of the many photos taken of Earth during mission STS-51B that have been lost to time, one of my favorites
