minami sota was born on 21 july, 1998 in morioka, japan to an older couple. he is the youngest of four children, making for a larger than average family. his siblings were born in 1982, 1986, and 1989 respectively and while it is not spoken about, it's well known his birth was extremely unplanned. this created a heavy strain between him and the rest of his family who silently viewed him as a financial burden more than anything else.

despite his curiosity for the idol life, he was unable to get proper training such as dance or vocal lessons due to his parents's unwillingness to provide him with anything more than basic necessities. in 2013 at the age of 15, he was able to find a job and saved up to pay for his own lessons.

he was scouted on the street by light up! entertainment in 2015, however because he was still 17, he was unable to relocate to south korea to continue training under them. the company was more than understanding and provided him with personal lessons in japan until his 18th birthday.

on 22 july, 2016, he packed up everything he had and moved to south korea to pursue the idol life without informing his family. unsurprisingly, he only got a few meager messages from his parents and siblings asking where he'd gone. deep down, he'd known that they weren't actually concerned and never bothered responding to any of the messages.

he continued to train under light up! entertainment as their only japanese idol until kohei joined the company in 2019. the two connected almost immediately and the company knew there was no choice but to debut the duo together.

sota is the only member with a listed position, however, he has been very open with the fact that he does not view himself as the leader of the group and does not wish to be refered to as such.

future boyz is a four member fictional j-pop boy group under light up! entertainment. the group debuted on 17 may, 2021. despite being a jpop group, they promote in south korea.

they have gained attention due to their unique and unsettling concept that has netizens calling it one of the best horror concepts from an idol group. the group has yet to win at any music show, however with the attention their concept brings in, they have amassed a generous following.

just after their one year anniversary, light up! entertainment signed zoneout, a six member fictional boy group. the transitional period was strange for both groups as they now had to adjust each other as well as being mindful of zoneout's past trauma.

future boyz has seemingly adjusted well according to netizens, despite now being juniors in their company. the two groups have been spotted more and more out together at different restaurants and fans of both groups have been more the welcoming to the change.
