My name is Dana, and my little sister is Farah. I am 16 years old, and we live in Gaza. Before the war, our lives were simple, filled with dreams and hope for a better future. But everything has changed. I have endured five wars, but this one is unlike any other. This war has taken everything and reshaped our lives. Our home, which was once a safe haven for our family, is now nothing but rubble. In the blink of an eye, we lost everything—our memories, our dreams, and our sense of safety. We were forced to flee to the southern part of Gaza, but even here, there is no peace. My school is now a small tent shared with other children. There is no warmth, no protection from the cold, and no hope for a better tomorrow. My little sister, Farah, who should be laughing and playing like any other child, is living a nightmare. Since the war began, she has lost her home, her toys, and her innocence. She sleeps on the cold ground, waking up every day to the terrifying sounds of bombings, wondering if she will survive another day. Her eyes are filled with fear, and she often asks me, "Will we make it through the night?"Farah is always hungry. The little food we have barely fills our stomachs. Her frail body grows weaker from illness, but there are no medicines or enough doctors here to help. Her only dream is to feel safe again, to have enough food, and to live a childhood free of fear and pain.As for me, I do everything I can to stay strong for her and for our family. We lost our mother, who was once the heart of our home—she was injured in a bombing and is now unable to move. Our father, who used to work tirelessly to provide for us, can no longer work. We are left with no income, struggling to survive under the most impossible conditions.Every day in this tent is a battle.

URGENT: HELP SAVE THE LIFE OF MY CHILD
Dear humanity,
I'm Amal, a mother of three children, living under the weight of the genocide taking place in Gaza. 🍉
The Israeli occupation forces launched drone strikes on my husband, Fayez, and my son, Mohammad.
Although my husband's condition has stabilized, my son is still suffering immensely and urgently needs medical treatment outside Gaza.
I lost most of my family. I'm afraid to lose my son too 🥺 .
I need your help please donate and share, evry contribution, no matter how small, brings us hope in these dark times.
Mohammed deserves to live a happy and healthy life, just like every other child on this earth.
So I humbly ask you to donate even a little or at least reblog this appeal.

thanks @privatefire for the new meme format!
Thanks to Faith Erin Hicks and Peter Wartman for this amazing panel.
It reflects both on my current mood and my understanding on Mai and Zuko.

Who realized that Izumi had vision problems and needed glasses: Zuko or Mai? and at what age do you think it happened?
hello<3
I like to think it was mai, because Izumi often tagged along on her firelady duties due to mai and zuko insisting on raising her without Nannies. Izumi would climb into Mai’s lap and help her with such duties, (Izumi was very bright, more than her parents at that age)
I think she would be like 9-10, she was helping mai by dictating the word on the document when she struggled to read a word. Mai brushed it off as something of a struggle to read, but the stuttering and misreading got worse, so they got her checked out and boom glasses.
Thank you for the ask, sorry i couldn’t write more my phone is not letting me type properly:,)

like Mai was in love with Zuko since childhood, and then he was sent away for years during his banishment. There is no evidence that Mai ever blames Zuko for this, but overall it might still have left some lingering abandonment feelings. Especially when Zuko breaks up with her after coming back, without a real explanation to her face.
Then Mai betrays Azula for Zuko, and brings herself in danger for him... on top of her already showing him that she cares about him, which isn't easy for her.
That's what "don't ever break up with me again" meant. It's not some psycho stalker ex-girlfriend physical threat to Zuko. It means Mai is willing to forgive, on the condition that Zuko will not repeat those mistakes, because it hurt her before.
Which is completely normal expectations to have after your partner have caused you hurt or betrayed your trust in some important way. You will move on, but not forget. It's implicit Zuko needed to work on those things.
So when he didn't really improve his emotional availability and kept important information from her, due to his duties and own struggles, it's completely sensible for Mai to feel so hurt she needs distance from him. Because the condition for re-starting the relationship is that Zuko would not make such mistakes again, so Mai's patience with her own heart would naturally be lower than without a history of previous hurts.
Making it so Zuko would need to prove to Mai he actually wants her back and will work hard for it, that he misses her when she isn't around him, that he won't take her for granted again is great writing and only improves the relationship from the show.

Some people are confused as to why did Mai suddenly take a stance when she was always apathetic. I'm currently reading Smoke and Shadow, and it actually makes perfect sense to me. Mai's father was trying to kill Zuko/make him step down as Fire Lord. Mai saw this, and it strengthen her desire to be politically involved. So what do you guys think? Is this out of character for her? Is it not?

Whatever reactions or feelings various fans might have about it, my claim that both their The Promise break-up and Mai's "don't ever break up with me again" is about Mai not taking more of Zuko breaking her heart, is explicitly the canon interpretation, by the way.
