xFIRSTBORNx - The untold story
Pete Wentz has been a bit more open about his time in the Chicago hardcore scene as of late, giving a great interview in the Antimatter Zine with Texas is the Reason frontman Norman Brannon. However, he mostly speaks about his inspirations and general presence in the scene. What about the bands that came before Arma Angelus? These bands were very poorly documented, so FOBAT decided to begin researching them.
We hope you all enjoy the new format for posts. We’re trying out new things in hopes that it catches onto the algorithm a bit more. Tell us us what you like and don’t like. And yes, Joey speaking here- I know I need a microphone… I’ll get around to it!
For more information on xFirstbornx + Arma Angelus and the full interview with Tim Miller, please visit our website: www.fobarchive.com !

Soul Punk is an amazing album, and it's truly crazy to me how little love and attention it gets, so much so that in interviews, Patrick is always so shocked when people bring up the strong fanbase it has.
I can't remember exactly what interview it is, but when asked a question along the lines of "Will another solo album be coming in the future?" Patrick responds with a 'maybe but if so it won't be anything like Soul Punk, I don't think I could recreate that album if I tried' esc response and it makes me so happy to think about. Like of course, I'd kill for another album like Soul Punk, but that album was made during one of the worst times of his life. I'm glad he can't recreate that album, most of the songs are about depression and Run Dry (X Heart X Fingers) is literally about the never ending cycle of alcoholism, hell Bad Side of 25 is practically just a spiraling mid-life crisis.
Patrick playing songs from Soul Punk on tour with Fall Out Boy, and stating that he wouldn't be able to recreate Soul Punk is nothing but an amazing thing, and more and more evidence towards the fact that, yeah, it does get better with time, nothing is permanent.
Every day I love Soul Punk and the current person Patrick Stump is more and more, I couldn't be happier at how set in life his work feels.
