I think it's absolutely hilarious how in CK as soon as Jesper throws the first punch all Kaz and Jesper's fighting skills go out the window and they start brawling and wrestling like children fighting over a piece of cake and Colm is the parent who divides the cake in two EQUAL halves.

the crows are so young. they're so young. they make fun of wylan for playing the flute and being a bad criminal. they love waffles. they mock kaz's bad haircut. matthias mentally addresses kaz only with insults for nearly the whole two books. they have all been jealous of each other showing other people attention at some point -- jesper is jealous of anyone kaz gives attention to. matthias is jealous of anyone nina gives attention to. kaz is jealous of how comfortable the others are with each other. wylan is jealous of kuwei flirting with jesper -- they're all insecure at some point. nina gets mad at them for eating her cookies. they're all horny and fantasize about their crushes while actively running for their lives. they all want to kill the woman they kidnapped because she's whiny. they tease inej for sounding philosophical. they have secret hand signals. jesper and nina make sex jokes all the time and love to make others blush. they spite each other. they threatened to tattletale on each other to each other. they compete over who has the biggest bounty on his head. inej uses "being a matthias" as an insult. kaz and jesper have a physical scrap and have to be pulled apart by an Adult. i adore them so much

still can't believe that Jesper, who frequently forgets things he did and said, was able to remember every freckle, every eyelash, every slight curve of Wylan's face, and the exact color of his eyes, so vividly enough that he could recount it to another person even though he had only known that face for a few days, and been apart from it for about two weeks. One of the most beautifully romantic things in the entire Grishaverse and to be frank we have yet to give it its flowers

sometimes i'll be ignoring the romance parts of six of crows but i just remembered the part in crooked kingdom where jesper recreated wylan's face from memory and perfectly described it to genya and OOOOHHHHHHH BOY

Which one of the Crows is a theatre kid and why is it all of them?

Kaz

That time he ran into Cornelis Smeet less than a minute after robbing him, and acted out being just a good-natured samaritan so well, that Smeet payed him five kruge and went about his day

His flair for dramatics

The fact that if the show was book-accurate, Kaz would have been the one laying it on thick pretending to be a married couple while Nina was annoyed at how well he fell into the role. He'd be calling her dearest or honeybunch while she forcibly had to stop herself from clenching her fist and stopping his heart right then and there.

The fact that he keeps stealing costumes from an acting troupe to complete his schemes.

If I remember correctly there was this one super dangerous trick she used to do that her dad would loudly announce had never been done before, but she'd shrug it off and complete it flawlessly anyway. Theatre kid energy written all over it.

Jack Wolfe is perfect casting for Orpheus because the tone of his voice is just inhuman enough that if someone told me he was the son of a muse irl and he then conjured up a flower and made walls move just by singing a few notes I’d only be mildly surprised

we as a society moved on too fast from the fact that jesper uses his fabrikator power to make his bullets never miss & can shoot without seeing a target. and still not miss. and bend shots etc. that's the coolest fucking thing ive ever heard. can anyone hear me

the chapter where

1) jesper explains that he thought kuwei was wylan

2) gives wylan the painting his mother made of him that he stole from the mental hospital

3) guides genya in remaking wylans face from memory. and stays there for hours while she works even though hes incredibly anxious & antsy ("I didn't know you were paying attention." "I was paying attention.")

4) wylan asks genya about training for fabrikators at the little palace for jesper & opens up about the thing HE is ashamed of, not being able to read, to show jesper its okay

5) jesper-typical flirting turns into jesper bringing up the previous point and wylan is straightforward and jesper gets defensive and wylan pushes and says things too raw that jesper doesnt like to think about.

6) wylan tells him he must be using his power to be such a good shot leading to "Why do you have to say things like that? Why can't you just let things be easy?" "Because they're not easy. You keep pretending everything is okay. You move on to the next fight or the next party. What are you afraid is going to happen if you stop?"

7) jesper freaks out, he feels scattered, thinks he needs to get out of the room, and wylan makes him take a deep breath and stay for the first time

8) he kisses jesper and suddenly jesper is focused and centered & his anxieties are gone. "It was a gunshot. It was prairie fire. It was the spin of Makker's Wheel. Jesper felt the pounding of his heart—or was it Wylan's?—like a stampede in his chest, and the only thought in his head was a happy, startled, Oh."

if you appreciate living in a state of sanity then do not think about how both jesper and wylan, two boys with gaping wounds of shame in them, fell in love with someone who saw them as unequivocally perfect. and who vowed to convince them of that.

jesper fahey who grew up hiding his powers, who could hardly even bear to voice out loud his grisha identity, who was taught that his shame was a shield.

wylan van eck who grew up teaching himself to mask and to deceive, to stall his father’s inevitable cruelty as much as he could. who was beaten and berated and mocked, who was taught that his shame was a rightful punishment.

and yet they love each other both in spite of it all and because of it all.

jesper thinks wylan is brilliant, wylan thinks jesper is brave. they think of eachother as everything and more.

jesper convinces wylan that his dyslexia isn’t a defect nor an error, that it doesn’t make him any less of a person, any less of the remarkably clever explosives expert that saved both his and everyone else’s asses time and time again.

wylan convinces jesper that his power is undeniably a part of him, and a beautiful one at that. that maybe it isn’t easy, but neither is anything worth having.

and together, they heal and they grow and they forgive. and they convince each other that they aren’t their shame, and maybe they never were.
