Winter Solstice tonight!

On Saturday the 21st, at 04:21 EST, the Sun will arrive at Capricorn.

This event is the Winter Solstice, marks the beginning of the coldest season in the Northern Hemisphere, and is the celebration of Yule in the Wiccan calendar.

Yule is the Wiccan holiday that occurs on the Winter Solstice. In it, the Goddess gives birth to her son, the Sun. The fact that these two words are pronounced the same in English is not a coincidence.

Yule vs Christmas

The Yule holiday in Wicca occurs when the Winter Solstice arrives.

And the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere happens when the Sun reaches zero degrees of Capricorn.

Yule and the Winter Solstice fall around the 21st of December when the Sun enters Capricorn. Since days will be longer, the solar God is reborn. This date presages the return of fertile and sunny times.

Any similarity with the date Christmas is celebrated is definitely NOT a coincidence. Historians argue that the Catholic church assimilated the birth of the Sun for pagans with the birth of Jesus to add more people to the Catholic faith.

Key astrological changes of 2025 in order of relevance

In my opinion, these are the most noteworthy astrological movements of the year 2025:

Pluto in Aquarius

Neptune in Aries

Uranus in Gemini

Saturn in Aries

Mars retrograde

Lunar Nodes in Pisces and Virgo

Venus retrograde

Jupiter in Cancer

But why?

Because most of these changes don’t occur on a yearly frequency. Therefore, when they DO happen, and especially if they happen together, that’s a big year.

Neptune changes signs every 14 years.

Uranus changes signs every 7 years.

Saturn changes signs every 3 years.

Mars retrogrades every two years for 9 % of its cycle.

See now why I consider 2025 to be a big year? So many changes happening in the same span of time is nothing short of extraordinary.

In the Wiccan tradition, the Winter Solstice is known as Yule, a moment when the rebirth of the Sun is celebrated.

Saturn's influence on Capricorn and Aquarius ascendants

If your Ascendant (aka rising sign) is Capricorn or Aquarius, Saturn is the ruler of your birth chart.

This means that Saturn's transits will not be so much about improving yourself but about accepting yourself and what you truly want out of life.

Paradoxically, Saturn's transits could help you loosen up because you're already very serious and responsible.

Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus in 2025

When creating an astrological calendar for the transits of any given year, you can go as granular as you want.

You can mention transits that last for months, weeks, days, or even hours!

There’s so much information that it can be overwhelming.

Overwhelm is never good because it can be paralyzing and prevent you from acting because you don’t know what’s essential and what isn’t.

So, where do you draw the line? How can you choose what’s relevant and what’s secondary? How can you create a calendar that allows you to act in alignment instead of making you feel confused?

When starting out, I encourage you to look at the bigger picture. And what does this mean, astrologically speaking?

To create an astrological calendar, you must focus on those planets that move slowly first and foremost. These planets are Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus. Focus on them in that order.

You may wonder why you must focus on them in that order. The reason is that they move VERY slowly and are always kind of working in the background of other fast-moving planets.

These slow-moving planets play a significant role in generational shifts, setting the tone for societal evolution and collective consciousness.

The year when they arrive at new signs is a BIG YEAR because they don’t change signs often.

2025 is one of those years.
