A visual I made of the differences and similarities between the True/Bad Ending to Limit Cut because I”m confused and need answers, but comparing the two endings makes me even more confused.
Why does Yozora look out different windows in the different endings? Does it matter if Yozora is woken up or wakes up himself? What’s the difference between his eyes and his mouth? Why does the speakers for the last line change depending on the ending? What’s with daytime Final World? Is this all Yozora’s dream?
What is even the purpose of the true/bad ending? Why make a Bad Ending if there is already a True Ending? Nomura, why did have to make things 10x more complicated?

Yozora | Somnus
In the secret ending when they show Yozora sitting on the building, the piano cue is from “Somnus”, the very first piece of music ever heard for FFXIII-Versus back in 2006.  It’s no secret that Yozora looks like Noctis, but the choice to use this piece of music might go deeper.
Tumblr media
First, remember that Yozora means “Night Sky” and a lot points to him being some kind of fusion of Sora and Riku.  Somnus is the Roman name for the Greek god of sleep, Hypnos.  Appropriate, considering the secret ending seems to be hinting has something like a DDD part 2.
As for the god Somnus, there’s some very interesting connections here: He is the son of Nyx (Night) and Erebus (Darkness), the brother of Thanatos (Death).  His own sons are the bringers of dreams. Nomura seems particularly interested in themes of sleep and dreams…
Tumblr media
“The edges of sleep and death touch, and one can’t help the occasional crossover.”
Somnus is also said to have lived in a cave where Day and Night meet, and the River Lethe begins; the River of Forgetfulness and Oblivion…
Tumblr media
“Oblivion” means forgotten.  Forgotten memories…a forgotten past.

SoKai Dates: or how they choose to spend their limited time together
(Hint: it’s very, very selflessly).
Watching fireworks with Chirithy:

Helping Chirithy return to Ven:
Tumblr media
Which, when you think about it, is one of the most selfless things they can do with their time. Sora is fading away and he at least knows they have limited time left together (and I would imagine Kairi suspects/knows as well), but the first thing they do is help Chirithy make happy memories with them, and then make sure Chirithy reunites with Ven. They’re good, selfless people, through and through, and it shows in everything they do.

⚔️ *:・゚✧┆HEADCANON : RE/MIND SECRET EPISODE
We FINALLY made it folks– RE/MIND is here and honestly I haven’t stopped screaming!! This is PART ONE of a THREE PART SERIES of HEADCANONS based around the secret episode and endings from RE/MIND. This part is the largest of the three and focuses on the CONTENT and LORE implied by the episode. The second part and third parts will be smaller, and will focus more on Yozora’s CHARACTERISATION and his FIGHTING STYLE respectively.
THIS will have a ( slight ) INFLUENCE on how I portray Yozora and his world moving FORWARD, but more notably, it links the new episode and endings to the LORE I’ve already developed. There are a few DISCREPANCIES between this and what I’ve established previously, which I will FLAG UP as and when they appear in the post.
It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you either play through or watch the SECRET EPISODE AND ENDINGS before reading this post– if you are struggling with the limit cut bosses like I am, you can WATCH the secret episode here, and the endings here and here.
( WARNING : MAJOR SPOILERS FOR RE:MIND BELOW THE CUT, INCLUDING SCREENSHOTS )

Sora: “Oh, hey. If I see him, I’ll tell him that you’re here. What’s his name?”
Nameless Star: “…”
Sora: “!”
Sora: “Huh?”
Nameless Star: “Our secret.”
§§§
Sora: “If you’re here, then this can’t be the real world, can it? But wait, that girl, she told me about you. Maybe you are real after all.”
§§§
Nameless Star: “He’s been changed beyond recognition–his heart replaced with another’s. But, were he to regain his old self again, he would be distressed by my absence.”
§§§
Yozora: “No, this isn’t the real world, and I am here. But this isn’t what I really look like. How’d you recognize me as Yozora?”

Note
do you think venum rex is gonna be more popular than ff15 ?
Being completely honest, I do not know.
As a fan of the franchise in general, I followed the work of Nomura with Final Fantasy Versus XIII very closely for just over 6 years. I absorbed like a sponge all the information I could (interviews, reviews in magazines and others).
I fell in love with each of the trailers of the game to the point that, if I see one to this day, I think: “where the hell was all this?!”.
In fact, with the commotion of the secret ending of KH3 and Verum Rex, you can notice without looking too much that the old trailers of Versus XIII are being filled with comments from fans and users about the fact. It `s hilarious.
Let’s just recap a little:
Since Nomura was removed from Versus XIII in 2012 (leaving Tabata as director and renaming the game as FFXV) he did not re-draw anything related to FFXV. That until November of 2017 when he drew Noctis for Dissidia NT. 5 years passed.
Redesigned Riku to look like Noctis.
He chose Ray Chase (the actor who gives his voice to Noctis) to be the Master of Masters.
He named an entire original world in KH3 “Scala ad Caelum”.
He gave Sora the movements planned for Noctis in Versus XIII.
He made public his disdain to the DLC and claimed that he made COMPLETE games.
He did not put any Final Fantasy character (sacrificing with this the appearance of characters dear to him, such as Cloud, Squall, Tifa, Lightning, etc.), but instead made a kind of tribute to Versus XIII through Verum Rex.
The Verum Rex girl is undeniably a tribute to Stella.
Verum Rex, by the way, means in Latin “True King” and the protagonist is called Yozora (Noctis Caelum in Latin, it’s hilarious the obviousness of this, my God).
Halfway through the secret ending of KH3 it is impossible to listen to the background melody and Yozora’s pensive attitude and not remember Insomnia, Somnus and Prince Noctis of Versus XIII.
Is this being mean? His Magnum Opus artistic and creative(Final Fantasy Versus XIII) was murdered by Square Enix executives mercilessly.
I watch the Verum Rex commercial and then the secret ending of KH3 and I can only think (as an artist) how frustrating it must be to not finish something you loved so much.
I know that Final Fantasy XV is not a bad game (do not blame Tabata either, he did what he could in a too short time range), but it’s definitely not what Nomura dreamed it would be.
I still want to know what Nomura wanted to convey with the lyrics of Somnus (and why the hell I never saw it in FFXV). I still want to see the Noctis he imagined for his game.
We could expect some of that in Verum Rex, maybe, but honestly, I do not know if it’s enough (both for him and the fans).
There is an undeniable conclusion to all this: Nomura REALLY wished to do Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
Verum Rex is a kind of tribute (and protest) to Versus XIII.
Nomura wants FF Versus XIII, fans want FF Versus XIII. Everyone knows it (Square Enix included) … that’s why there is so much consternation and excitement around the subject.
Tetsuya Nomura is like the diva drama queen of the Square Enix and honestly … I love him for that. C:

Rebloggin this again if I hear someone complain since KH3 re:mind came out
Wasn't it Nomura's fault Versus 13 never came out in the first place though?
Tumblr media
It’s almost 2019 and people still think that what happened to Versus is all Nomura’s fault? Even after all what happened last week in Square Enix? Listen, son. That is probably one of the funniest metropolitan legends going around on the internet. Let me try to be objective and explain you.
EVIDENCE UNDER THE CUT
