Today I was out in the wild, and by chance I decided to go for some bearrings for a bike to #pietdewit in #wormer. One of the guys was wheeling this thing out of the workshop. If I remember well I was told this is founder of #cervelo, #vroomen's study bike. Fill me in. I did not follow it... but its great to see this one in real life. I also had the pleasure of racing a cervelo #prodigy #steel bike this spring in #toronto. So. In the time you guys fill me in about this stuff i'll go read up on it... shame on me.

Some people think the #bombtrackbicycleco #hook #proto broke because of manufacturing problems. But that is not true. As you can see on the picture it was damaged by impact. The frame has been welded by a real craftsman and heattreated after welding. The #columbustubes did not break at the weld nor at the bend. And the frame also didn't collapse. The hook got bend because I actually used, foe some strange reason, the rearbrake in loose sand on a little sideways slope in the dunes. I jumped off #ninjastyle but didn't push the bike away enough to the other side of the tree we were about to hit on a pretty high pace... the bike survived a 600 kilometre transalp off road race. The steel frame and the carbon fork.... not even a creak out of the bearrings! So. Any bike can damage irreversably. In most cases its bad luck. In case of manufacturing mistakes in the frame or fork? You got your warranty... This would not be warranty but as a bombtrack bicycle co. Factory rider I'm a lucky chap...

1997. After 8 years of looking for money, our finally track got its roof. We thank the old gang for having so much energy and patience so we can still zip around the track every winter. In 1997 I was racing one of the first mass production fixed gear frames. The purple version of the year before was morbidly called 'widowmaker'. This bike caused the fight with the national teams mechanic that leaded to the end of my willingness to participate at the top levels of track racing. I will nuance that later.... #khs #aerotrack.

The one and only, epic and dirty #bikewars #demolition #derby. In #2000 we did this once a month in #amsterdam. A good mix of squatter punks, bike messengers and bikemechanics. All credits go to the squatters who still do this in copenhagen and holland at yearly squatfestivals. It was punk rock as hell. I mean we never had lack of press hanging around and we even did it once in the lunch area of a television studio on semi live #television.... #good times.

in my timezone its still #throwbackthursday! 1991 I suppose. Because that is my first bike. And my first blue #spandex no style cycling kit. The bike was a #batavus 'Buster' and yes it had a fake ghetto disc wheel that weight a ton, a #polderTT aerobar and bar ends. This bike musta weight 18 kilos. But. As a 12 year old you get pretty damn strong hauling that thing through inches thick #mud, #dunes and #beaches in rain, frost and other types of weather im pretty sure you wanna stay inside for. Oh. And don't forget your helmet...
