Excellence. What constitutes it? How do we achieve it? I wish I could say there was an easy 3 step plan. But in reality, there is no easy path. There are a lot of distractions along the way, and honestly, many who would say the laborious trade off isn’t worth. I’m an actor by inspiration. In my early years, I remember devoting extensive hours to auditions, not quite understanding what I was doing, and often feeling discouraged by rejections. There were several moments when nothing was more attractive than quitting. I remember talking to myself, relaying my youthful worries, and an inner voice told me “if you show up, something will happen.” It is an age-old advice to just keep at it and for me, it was a drummer I could march to. Now after 4 years of being an expression practitioner, I’m finally scratching the surface of my passion. I’d offer that we adopt the pace of nature when it comes to pursuing excellence in our craft.
