Arcane AU: The Light

Part One: Let’s Go Back

Time slows and the scene is so clear. Jinx, sprawled on the ground in the dust, her long blue braids coming undone. Vi pulling against Cait to reach her sister. Vander, what was left of him, raged, a bright burning star of red, of pain. Soldiers rushing in, chaos.

And Isha.

Her small hands on the gun, one searching her pocket. Those little blue orbs she wanted to eat, shining against the leather. She looks up and sees Jinx, her only family, bleeding before her. She had to do something.

She runs, taking off, pushing her hat back onto her head, gun in hand. She leaps, a bird in flight. She is calm, confident. She knows just what to do. She slides in under Warwick, pushing the Hex crystals into the gun’s chamber.

One,

Two,

Three.

Jinx meets her eye and she is screaming - “Isha! Isha, no!” Vi fights to hold her back. Isha closes her eyes and pulls the trigger, expecting silence. All she can hear is the buzzing behind her eyes, her little heartbeat fast like a hummingbird.

Jinx scream and suddenly, she is light. She doesn’t care what happens to her, she must save Isha. If Isha were to die …

Jinx couldn’t even bring herself to think. The Shimmer in her blood bends and twists her bones and she flies through space, closing the distance between her and Isha in a heartbeat.

“Powder! Get back here!” Vi screams, but Cait is pulling her away, pulling her to safety. Jinx’s arms close around Isha’s body. In one heartbeat she tosses the gun under Warwick’s massive form. In the next she is running, almost warping them through space, back to where Vi waits for them.

Jinx sets Isha down gently before yelling, “What were you thinking kid? You could’ve gotten yourself killed.” She kneels down to her level and pulls her back in close. “Don’t ever scare me like that again, promise?”

Isha pulls back and wipes a tear off of Jinx’s stained cheek. They do their handshake and Jinx pushes Isha’s helmet down over her eyes. Vi pulls Jinx into a tight hug.

“I thought I was going to lose you again,” she says. “God, fuck,” they stand and watch Ambessa’s army close in on Warwick. He roars as they bring him down. Cait pulls on Vi’s hand.

“We need to leave. Now.”

One of the most dangerous things in the world is not being able to say no to people because you don't want to upset them or dissapoint them. This will completely ruin your life in every way possible, at work, in your private life, your sex life and your friendships. It's a way of removing your own consent in your own decisions and go against your wishes, it is always a crime against yourself. Let yourself have a say. Upsetting people is better than traumatizing yourself.

The worst part about having mental health issues is that you’re seemingly required to have a breakdown in order for people to understand how hard you were trying to hold yourself together.

"I live in a red state my vote doesn't ma-"

If your vote didn't matter they wouldn't try so hard to make it harder to vote in red states. Voting in red states can turn them into swing states like Georgia, Ohio, and Arizona. And voting in blue states can keep them from becoming swing states.

California used to be Red. Texas was Blue long ago. Florida was once a swing state. Obama took Indiana but it's gone redder since. Ten years ago Arizona and Georgia going blue was unthinkable.

Things change and we can make them change.

And that's before getting into more local elections. Turning cities blue, the state legislature.

Red states have flipped blue in recent years at those levels too.

Because people vote, and if we vote in high enough numbers we can turn a tight election into a walk in the park. If we vote in high enough numbers, we can turn a loss into a win. So many good things have happened in states where someone won by like 100 votes. (arizona is one)

Hi yall! I hate to do this but i have like three days to somehow get $500 for rent :/ I am currently unemployed due to disabilities and in the first round of the appeal process for disability income. I’ve tried doordash in my area but it’s constantly too busy to work, I’ve tried everything I can do but Im still short.
